    Great video, Sir! I painted the Valve covers, fuel and water rail, intake manifold, and exhaust heat shield with Rustoleum Bar-B-Que paint. Still looks great after 18 years. That new Jaguar sticker looked great when I first put it on, but darkened from engine heat within a month.

    I’ve found in the comments the fact that you didn’t use high temperature paint. It’s now been sometime on and I would appreciate knowing if the ‘normal’ paint has endured? Any problems with heat affectation? I’m about to undertake the same exercise and this would be comforting to know.

    Great vid! Did you replace the cam cover gaskets and/or did you use any sealant before bolting it back on? Also, did you use a specific torque setting when putting them back on?

    Well done again. Did you use high température paint ?

    • @LivingWithAClassic
      @LivingWithAClassic  4 года назад +5

      I did not. It doesn't really get that hot and normal paint works. Issue with a lot of high temp paint is that it doesn't cure until it gets hot. It becomes difficult to sand the ribs then. Thank you for watching!

    What should I do with my 96 XJS. (6 cyl)?
    The covers are different

    • @LivingWithAClassic
      @LivingWithAClassic  4 года назад

      They can be painted in the same way and you can choose to polish the ribs or not. I've seen someone paint that one in a dark grey which looked cool

      @@LivingWithAClassic Be careful with a 96 XJS with the AJ16 engine. The Cam cover is made of Magnesium and needs more careful treatment because of the nature of magnesium.

    Waste of time video, you should have used paint stripper, then sanded everything, then polished the ribbing, then masked it and painted, then clear coated.
