I had shivers listening to this! Everything was just perfectly in place - the impassioned vocals; the insane drumming; all of it! And oh, when those keyboards kick in! This is one of the best covers I have ever heard, any song, any band.
wow that drummer has it, driving the whole song forwards, paying homage to the orignal and adding his own flair. and smashing the shit out of those drums like Steve Morris did in the early days
great version. good that they still resonate. well done. seen that we"re in the midst of festive folly, substitute John lennons (happy xmas war is over, so this is christmas ) for twenty four hour first lyrical verse "So this is permanence"
I was having a conversation with some friends a while back. We talked about which songs we considered, if any, to be un-coverable. This is the first and only song I thought of.... Then I came across this version. Wow. Absolutely stunning.
There are many who try to cover Joy Division, and most don't execute it well. This is perhaps one of the more difficult songs to cover, and it happens to be my favorite JD song. All I can say is.....WOW! That drumming would make Stephen Morris proud!
Absolutely incredible guys! Damn that drumming was insane! Loved the added touch with the organ aswel! 24 hours would have to be probably my favorite Joy Division song!
Love this Song . Love this Session Recording. In the end only Noise, everything on peak. Very emotional, as this Song really is. And I like the female vocals :)
Wow! This JD cover sent shivers down my spine. An amazingly tight performance that deserves a lot more than just 1550 views. Goed gedaan. Netjes drumwerk.
Joy Division's pieces are precision, sharp works and each instrument must be well in place in an overall organization. Which gives this impression of a cold wave, from beyond the grave, but viceral by the singer. Here, this rigor of interpretation is respected, nevertheless with just the right amount of passion so as not to fall into chaotic nonsense. Despite its rigid construction, the piece manages here to reach an unusual emotional touch, because of the interpretation of the song by a feminine timbre which keeps the spirit of the broken voice of Ian Curtis by drawing on a inner heartbreak. Almost like a grunge archetype made up of moments of calm and moments of rage.
Gorgeous cover, love every bit of it, Drums are amazing, might need to go down half a notch, (but Martin Hannet knew what to do on the record) the keybords sounds a bit like the Doors, it is a great cover! Thankyou! dx
Lifelong JD fan - hey, this is REALLY good. Very respectful of the original. All competent parts played with special kudos to the singer & drummer (is he on Duracell Extra?) Not many bands can translate JD , so fair play! 💣
After second listen - the song itself is obviously a call for help and I like the way the singer changes the ending to a scream for help - it actually gave me chills. Top notch 🎤🍻
A magnificent version of one of the finest songs in the JD canon. Most covers of JD songs turn out to be nothing more than lame imitations. Over the past 4 decades, this excellent cover is the only exception I've heard.
How did they make such a great cover of this song. thos was the one song i thought couldnt be performed by anyone other than JD not even New order and they did it. How?
Come on guys, this is the second FANTASTIC cover of this beautiful song I heard today... Neither had played the guitar part right! Why??? It's such a great guitar part, one of the best Sumner ever recorded! Do yourselves a favour and learn it right, worths the effort!
It’s pretty simple. It’s two chords and then some muted notes. And then there’s a little arpeggio at the end. It’s great but I wouldn’t call it sumners best. What part did this guy get wrong btw? I think he did a pretty good job.
Watched it a few times now. I'd say it's very close to being as good as the original! It's got its own character and delivers something well beyond the usual cover version. No idea who this band are, but I hope they get together again and do more JD, they have a feel for it.
Having heard other interpretations with female singers, I’d say girlie voices don’t work. Her (alto?) voice is fine me except for the loud shouting part. Some of the songs are sadly past a point where you’ve still have enough energy for shouting.
I had shivers listening to this! Everything was just perfectly in place - the impassioned vocals; the insane drumming; all of it! And oh, when those keyboards kick in!
This is one of the best covers I have ever heard, any song, any band.
it’s all about the passion and the energy. superb and the singer is the key. works for me.
wow that drummer has it, driving the whole song forwards, paying homage to the orignal and adding his own flair. and smashing the shit out of those drums like Steve Morris did in the early days
This is one of the best joy division covers I've heard
man thats some insane drumming right there
i keep coming back to this. so good at many levels.
Excelente cover....
This really captures the spirit of Ian....haunting...love it
Wow !
The best cover I've heard of this tremendous song!! You guys are fabulous!! Greetings from Argentina.
I keep coming back to this. I can't get over how good it is. 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Sick!
The drummer is doing Stephen Morris proud there. Great version.
Hard song to cover. These guys paid homage and nailed it. Can’t stop watching. Organ adds something extra. Well done
So energetic drums!
great version. good that they still resonate. well done. seen that we"re in the midst of festive folly, substitute John lennons (happy xmas war is over, so this is christmas ) for twenty four hour first lyrical verse "So this is permanence"
Awesome cover and amazing energy 👍 Cheers, Dave.
Utterly transcendental
Best cover of this song I've heard, no question...
I was having a conversation with some friends a while back. We talked about which songs we considered, if any, to be un-coverable. This is the first and only song I thought of.... Then I came across this version. Wow. Absolutely stunning.
From someone who saw them in 1980, this is superb
You’re beyond lucky to have seen them!
ditto . bowden

They feel it.

So this is ... the best Version asaid of joy division in the world ... Permanent

If the original is a 10 then this has got to be a 9.999999
Superb Cover!!!! Brilliant voice and the drummer just makes it so right..
Essential cover, my deepest thanks.l
Brilliant guys...... Being an original fan of Joy Division, Ian would be really pleased with that cover
Fucking hell! From a 58 year old Manc.
What a superb cover..honours the original and is different enough to be interesting....female vocalist, fast moving, very passionate singing
there needs to be a love button

I doff my hat to Houses.

Fire cover. Nice job

😮
Different and... GOOD.
Great cover!
Tare it up... Kick it out... Show how it's done... Awesome!... Scary good... Thanks...

Niiiiiiiicccccceeeeee from Canada
How did they make such a great cover of this song. thos was the one song i thought couldnt be performed by anyone other than JD not even New order and they did it. How?
Love the Hammond in there
Fucking amazing
I seem to recognize some of these guys as the ones who covered Freur's Doot Doot. In any case, congratulations.
JUST LOVE! I am gonna play this every hour until it gets millions of views!☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺
Some say this was Ian’s suicide note
This cover fucking slaps!!!
That's how you play it!
Astonishingly near the real Closer quality !
Nailed it
holy shit :o
Ooft❤

Nikolaos Basileiou that sounded good too yeah. I would’ve thought the second chord was a C chord but you might be right about it.
Yes. Good sounds - Kids...!
ik mis jullie!!!
i agree with Velouris79 best cover ever of this song
Wow.

bom pra kct!
Athlete - 24 hours 👍🏽
Drums is very ok
Hay que darle mas *enfasis* al bajo
Subanle el volumen al bajo
Ya que el Bajista de Joy Division lo hacía espectacular
Saludos
They ought to redo this minus the organ.
casimiro moendo na batera
Vocals are awful, but holy fuck, they went right after the energy.
The band sound so aggressive!
Yikes. Not bad...
Having heard other interpretations with female singers, I’d say girlie voices don’t work.
Her (alto?) voice is fine me except for the loud shouting part.

The drum rolls on this song aren't this random. 6/10
But it's their cover
They can change it how they like
At least 8/10
9/10
Chauncey Gardener you must know nothing about drumming then his cover his fills. he's on time which is all that matters
Nope he gets a 10.
Well, that's why we call this a cover. It retained the strong feeling of the original, and the drummer's on time.
abbattetela :)
...direi una groupie
Great except vocal
No
Sorry, like playing but singing is not even close to Ian's desperate voice. Too slick singing.
Drummer owned that shit +++. Kudos from Manchester UK
