Falcons are not at SB caliber yet but they are good enough to make some noises in playoffs. Possibly to make NFC final this year but fall short in battling against Lions. 😊😊
Making the playoffs is a HUGE improvement and we’ve did everything so far but lock a playoff spot. We’re one of the best improved teams in the league this season.
@@IgaveyoumyfakenameI’m sorry what? The falcons have had 3 substantial leads all season, it’s not like they go up big every game and then it gets close. the panthers (they won by 18), at the Bucs(after Atlanta got that lead, the lowest their chance of winning was 80%), and today, where after they went up 21-10 the cowboys never had greater than a 16% chance of winning on the flip side, the falcons have: out scored vs the Bucs 16-3 in the 4th+overtime to comeback and win, and scored in the final 90 seconds to beat the eagles. The falcons have 2 come-from-behind victories in the 4th quarter while have not lost a single game where they led at any point in the 4th quarter
Sacks are a HGHLY OVERRATED stat. What good are sacks on first and second down, when you can't stop anyone on 3rd down and let teams repeatedly convert 3rd and forever? The truth is, a sack is only valuable when it stops a drive. And that ONLY happens on 3rd or 4th down. I'd rather we lead the league in STOPS on 3rd down than lead the league in sacks. Because a ton of sacks does NOT necessarily mean you are stopping drives.
Yeah and I think pressure will be more important that's the biggest stat for me pressure creates opportunities for our high level secondary to force them into making dangerous throws and mistakes if we get that and generate even more turnovers this team will be golden sacks are just a plus of pressure
Reminds me of the SB team under MR2, great offense but porous defense. I would say that the offense on the MR2 SB team was even better than this year's. They lost that SB because the defense couldn't stop Brady in the last 18 minutes and the Falcons coaches didn't take the air out of the ball. The Falcons as a franchise have ALWAYS focused too much on offense and in particular skill positions. Their defense has always been awful.
I've been a Falcons fan since moving to Atlanta for college in 1979. historically, they have been awful. Back in the day if you subscribed to Sports Illustrated they would send you a VHS of your favorite NFL team highlights. A VHS tape can hold up to 3 hours of highlights. When I got the Falcons highlights it was 11 minutes. ELEVEN minutes! That's how awful they were. Even when Atlanta went to the Super Bowl against the Patriots, when leading at the half by over 15 points, I never felt they would win. Guess what? They didn't. AAAGGGGHHHHHHH. Here is hoping the Falcons can continue to improve especially on the defensive pash rush aspects. Thanks for posting. Take care
@@JDubKillinKicksyou misunderstood his point: the VHS is for each team: some teams may have over 2 hours’ highlights but Falcons only had 11 mins. That’s the difference 😂
Falcons are improving but they still have a long way to go. The defense especially run and pass rush needs significant improvement to be considered as nfc contenders. Half way through the season so we’ll see what happens
Somebody has to teach Pitts how to block because I alsmost through the TV out of the window when I saw Pitts's poor blocks. The guy just doesn't play hard when it comes blocking the opponent, he plays soft.
Even minus the pass rush issues, we've got some big problems that will cap our ceiling. The defense as a whole is inconsistent and can turn to swiss cheese right before your eyes. Our O line has taken a step back in terms of pass blocking. And while Kirk has looked better and better, he's still mostly tethered to the pocket and every ball he throws gives me a heart attack because of how close to coverage they end up. If we get right at the right time we could make some magic happen but the Lions, Vikings, and Packers are in another stratosphere right now.
Quick take, the talent is there for a Super Bowl contender. Raheem is the key here. Raheem has to learn a couple more lessons before we make it deep into the playoffs. He needs to learn to never let off the gas, stay focused until 5 minutes after the game is over. Start sending your corners after their QB, especially AJ, they will not expect our top CB to dial up the pressure (until the 3rd time he does it but now they have to account for it). Our safeties can handle the extra load. That is the only two things missing right now. The defense is good, unfortunately they are already at 10 and there is no 11. If they can find a way to get to 11 and Raheem gives the finger to the scoreboard and let them run that score up. We could win the whole thing.
This should have been a dominant for the team. We still missing some on the offensive. And the defense definitely needs to step it up because there’s no reason the backup should have scored late
Offensively, definitely proved we can shootout with anyone and we’ve won all of them. The only problem is this shaky pass rush. That gets shored up and we are on Detroit’s level in the NFC.
If thee got " thee" edge, it becomes a domino effect on defense and they'd have a shot agsinst anyone . If Atlanta caught last week's cowboy team ( no starting running back) , this would've been a pull away blow out. I'm not making Rico Dowdle to be some top running back but he's good enough to do what he did yesterday agsinst a defense that continues to struggle agsinst run. Kirk's under pressure advanced stats were great and another step to looking like qb that looked like qb right before 3rd degree rupture last season. He also has a longer runway than people realize. He keeps himself in paramount shape in off-season. So getting " thee edge" and keeping him becomes attractive on both sides. Tampa loses tonight and falcons basically have a 3 game lead in football math so again - let's set sights as in " all the way "
Im a falcons fan until death but the lions are the class of the nfc. We have the potential to win 10 to 11 games and win the South easily. But our lack of pass rush is a major concern and we have some tough games against the vikes and Washington. 10-7 11-6 is the cap
Even if we don’t make it all the way, we still have to beef up the front 7. There’s plenty of talent that’ll be available this upcoming draft. Offense looks great, just need more help on the line.
I’m from Georgia so Im not a fan but like I want them to win and I saw the sb against Tom Brady I realized they choke to much to the point where u can’t trust them to keep a lead it’s bad
I don't think the Falcons can even be in the Super Bowl conversation without a much better pass rush. True, the offense is looking better. Super Bowl is a bit of a stretch though.
Im a falcs fan. Robinson is a carrier YAC, tyler is the scrimmage runner. ATL is limited on depth when it comes to WR or TE. Defense is sub par. Coming that close in a game against the cowpokes in no way represents a playoff team. Should have blown them out.
That's why they drafted Ebikete, Harrison, and Trice. Now it's about coaching and player production. The moves have already been made. Can't mortgage your future on aging Vets. Stay the course.
As a falcons fan, we’re gonna have to work on our defense before we think of rings. But hey, things are looking up, and I’m sure with our current offense, it’ll stay that way. The only team I would truly doubt ourselves against in the NFC are the Lions. Optimistically, I think the NFC championship is a possibility for sure. JUST NOT ANOTHER 7-10 SEASON PLEASE GET A WINNING RECORD
if they get an edge and the secondary can just get better than yeah they could contend but i don’t agree that there’s no clear cut best nfc team. it’s the lions cut and dry. they are easily the best team in the nfc and they look like the best in the nfl but ofc the chiefs are the chiefs
