Excellent concept for a show! My partner, who is currently going blind, just discovered it and has found it immensely helpful. Thanks for everything you’re doing!

    Hey, Derek in April.
I have found most of my answers about being blind through RUclips. I listen to serval RUclipsrs, including:
    Life after sight loss
    The blind life
    Kayla with a C
    Carry on accessibility.
You all give me inspiration to keep going every single day. You guys give me ideas and support and so much more. And I love you all very very much for the impact that you guys have, and the valuable tools that you give us and suggest to us.!
I can’t help to say thank you Derek and April For all that you guys do. And you guys are always in my thoughts and prayers every day. I have even found myself thinking about how you and Apple and your kids are doing when you are gone for so long and not making Contant. That is how much Impact you and other RUclipsrs have been to me.

Not sure it really counts as my search as I started finding answers because just over 6 years ago a friend who volunteered with a UK sight loss charity sent me a link to the charity’s kitchen hacks video here on RUclips when I said how difficult I was finding food prep and cooking, then over time 😅the algorithm led me to many other blind RUclips channels including yours Derek. Since my cane training didn’t include safely using escalators I learned that via searching here on RUclips.
The biggest thing I learned from you and other blind RUclipsrs was independence didn’t end with sight loss which was my biggest fear having grown up with all the charity adverts here in the UK that suggested blind people sat in darkened rooms waiting to be rescued as they couldn’t do anything alone.
At 55 I was fearing losing my independence, now at 61 I’m yomping through the countryside around my hometown confusing sighted people because they can’t find my minder 😂

Good morning Derek in April. It’s funny that you should bring up near Raiders, because one of the reasons I first was drawn to your podcast is your voice. Do you have a very calming tone in your voice. And April you’re just as cute as a bug see her! Thanks for what you guys are doing. Everyone needs encouragement! God bless.

Amazing timing. I had just signed up for free audio books from my state library. I was watching this video when they called me! Since you said you liked BARD better than the player, when she said I had a choice, I chose the BARD. Can’t wait to start listening to books. Thank you!

Love you videos and podcasts, they give me a sense of calm and that I can do this and have a good life after vision loss. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Kitchen hack. I use scissors for everything. I used a knife occasionally cut things down, but then I use the scissors to do the rest. It’s much safer.

I appreciate your videos, I have learned a lot. I would like future instructional videos specifically on the iPad and iPhone. I have great difficulty following and learning because I can’t see what’s going on and I think people gloss over some steps. I need really simple step-by-step, instructional videos. Anything you can do to help much appreciate it❤ 17:46
