  • These are moves that are completely valid on the virtual puzzle, but are not canon for physical 2x2x2x2 solves. I think they should be canon.

dang, everyone's getting the puzzle from the 4th dimension now, I'm glad to learn it isn't a niche as tiny as i thought it was and that there's actually a whole lot of people getting the thing. mine's coming in really soon!

I wanted to see like what each piece in the virtual cube would correspond to what piece in the physical one, like where is the internal cell in the melinda 2x2x2x2?

I completely agree with the Iy2/IU2 and Iz2/IF2 twists but not with the others

I think a few of us would love to know where you got this puzzle from!

not only have i just discovered 4D physical cubing but now i know there's a thing as conotical moves.
but yeah seems a bit strange for specific methods to be baked into the rules, i'd have thought canon moves would be guides as to how to twist in each dimension/3D direction, if people find faster methods that doesn't create illegal positions, don't see the problem especially when we're talking speed cubing, essentially just a new algorythm.

The problem is that performing a stacking moves with the 2 halves of the puzzle along the short axis is a tremendous shortcut. And it doesn’t actually represent a cube rotation in the 4d puzzle.
Using only canonical moves with the physical puzzle, you could apply those same moves to the virtual tesseract and end up in the same spot.

@@SnackMuay and this is why I find it so interesting, I wouldn't have thought there'd be shortcuts in lower dimensions.
So I guess noncanon moves would be like wormholing the pieces through other ones to get to the location or even the equivalent of peeling stickers/replacing pieces.

@@sonicmeerkat yeah. There are some moves on the 3D puzzle that would be like turning only half of one of the faces, which is hard to even conceptualize.

@@SnackMuay hence the misconception leading to this video i spose, honestly very interesting

where did you get the 2x2x2x2? or did you make it?
