*Bowfinger* is the 1999 comedy that hilariously exposes just how desperate-and delusional-people can get to make it in Hollywood. Steve Martin stars as Bobby Bowfinger, a down-on-his-luck filmmaker with a shoestring budget and a dream of directing a blockbuster. His genius plan? Shoot the entire movie around Hollywood’s biggest star, Kit Ramsey (played by Eddie Murphy), without him knowing he’s in it. What follows is a chaotic, laugh-out-loud journey as Bowfinger’s ragtag crew of wannabes and clueless actors try to pull off the ultimate guerrilla filmmaking stunt. Murphy pulls double duty, also playing Kit’s nerdy, lookalike brother Jiff, adding to the film’s absurdity with pitch-perfect comedic timing. *Bowfinger* is a sharp satire of the film industry, mocking the lengths people will go to chase fame while highlighting the ridiculousness of Hollywood’s ego-driven world. With Martin’s deadpan charm and Murphy’s over-the-top performance, the movie brilliantly walks the line between clever comedy and utter absurdity, making it a cult favorite for anyone who’s ever dreamed of making it big-even if their plan is as wild as Bowfinger’s.

I moved to america from Australia in the late 90’s. I still remember the first time I saw a girl wearing “fashionable” clothes, carrying a purse, stupid probably fashionable big sunglasses, hair and makeup, cleavage, at an upscale pop restaurant or shopping area, in a pair of common AF, every day, typical Australian house slippers. I’ve yelled, “those are not for outdoors” to dozens of confused and offended trend chasers. Beverly hills bogans.

The Parking Garage scene(s) are hilarious. That's stately Wayne Manor from the 1960s tv show. KUDOS for doing this - nobody else has! Using Average White Band's PICK UP THE PIECES as the Premiere soundtrack was great. I have this one in my collection, and I'll also recommend DEAD MEN DON'T WEAR PLAID (1982) with Steve Martin and Rachel Ward; MY BLUE HEAVEN (1990); DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS (1988); and PARENTHOOD (1989) - imho Steve Martin's best films.

They’re getting old these days and l have to take care of them and my mum who’s been bed stricken since 2020. Dusty has dementia and Molly is blind and almost deaf. They sleep on the bed with me. 90% of the time they’re sleeping.

A local pet supply store (not a big chain) had some pups that were an “oops” litter out front one day and my daughter saw him and said we didn’t stand a chance with saying no to his sweet face. He was very sickly when we first brought him home and I nursed him back to health and we were inseparable.

Ever since then, Tom and scientology is Mind F*ck. I think you called it Mind Freak. But, make no mistake, Steve says Mind Fu.....almost hitting the hard ck at the end, just catching himself. You gotta give it up for Steve Martin having the gonads to go all roast master general on Scientology with that whole General Zod sub-plot of the movie. But, Martin accidentally almost calling Scientology Mind F*ck: favorite joke of the entire movie.
