    I've been using the Amazon controls for about 6 months. They are not amazing but will certainly allow you to drive if you need a rental or to borrow a vehicle.
    Just make sure that the grips will notncomeboff the pedals.

    I thought everything was temporary? 🤣 Great vid dude. I’ve been using the temporary hand controls for 2 years so I have nothing to compare them to, but they allow me to drive sensibly to the shops. Haven’t hooned in the desert tho 😉

    I have permanent controls in my main truck, and they are solid. In my 4x4, I have these Amazon controls, and they work well.
    I have used them for 100s of miles with no problem. Just check them now and then that everything is tight.

    I use that 200 for years not Amazon brand but it looks like that. I'm a big car guy so I have multiple cars and I switch my cars pretty frequently. I don't like fixed items meaning I can switch hands. I even race with mines, I like how I can brake boost launches easier and I can have different height positions like hold wheel and grip the throttle same time or not and have it near my lap, I can sit further or closer and better reach with it and my old one Initially injured had it sat behind the wheel it did not feel good for me. Plus when I get it service or wife's drives it's completely gone for them

      Same here. Mine are a little different than those temporary controls, but I can use mine on the left or right side of the steering wheel, and can hold onto the wheel and the controls at the same time. I’ve been using them for about 4 years.

    I’m heading to the USA for the first time in a few weeks and have hired a car to drive from Disney to Busch gardens - good to see before I go the type of hand controls I’ll probably be using. Great vid! Any time I seem to need some wheelchair user info, you have done a vid that helps! Thanks bud!

    I changed to Veigel hand controls about 10 years ago and would not use anything else. I use the Classic version which mounts on the right side & to the seat bolts. They’re out of the way when getting in and out of my car and I can tilt the steering wheel down as far as it can go without hitting the hand controls. Cool video and thanks for sharing.

    I've recently discovered your videos nad have enjoyed them. Thanks for your efforts! One question I do have is, can you drive with your feet? You seem to have quite a bit of lower-body control. I ask because I drive with my left foot due to a SCI in 1995. I've never used hand controls and was curious about your decision to use them.

    Yes those permanent hand controls you have are great. They are much safer than the "Portable" or "removable" controls. I use both for two different vehicles. The permanent hand controls you have are actually manufactured 20 mins from where I live. Great owner great company.

    • @chrissawyer49
      @chrissawyer49 2 года назад +1

      You can google hand controls in your area to find sellers/installers. Most states require you to get a prescription from a special type of occupational therapist that certifies that you can use hand controls. That cost’s around $450. Then you can go to the installer to get them installed in your vehicle. Mobilityworks is a big nationwide installer. None of the installers will just sell you hand controls. It’s a very lucrative weird business/industry.

    I don't know if I'll ever be able to drive a car, cuz I have a light sensitivity and my glasses only go so far. I can drive a motorcycle, or a moped, since my helmet has additional shading, but you need a car license to get a motorcycle license in my state so I'm stuck with my moped for now 🤣

      Do you live in a building? That caused irreversible damage to the habitat. Do you drive outside on roads? You contribute to irreversible damage to a habitat. Moving some dirt around on a desert track is not ruining the habitat. A storm with wind and rain alters that habitat more than he did. The saying there’s always that one person, and you are that one person that has to come in with a dumb troll comment.

      @@chrissawyer49 Do you know people are murdered every day? So according to your logic, since they are it's perfectly fine to commit murder. According to experts it IS damaging the habitat.
