Decided to really go for a fast tempo on this piece, although it's still barely at the written tempo of 132 bpm. Making all these block chords sound light and dance-like requires some speed, although it comes at the cost of a few notes. I think it's worth it and hope you enjoy watching me burn my chops out!
this piece is decievely easy its easy to learn but is one of the difficult thing that a mallet percussionist can attempt. you play well this is so amazing to watch
Me and Leigh Stevens played this etude together just for fun during the summer marimba seminar in ‘94 (actually we did it as a round) It was my final piece too btw but it was fun to jam this w/ him. He’s the master😉💪
Damn bro im drowning in those waves your hair is on fleek gang on some real fire technique on foenem peace braaaaaah gordon stout and Clair Musser would say youre fire do you mess with Xenakis? thanks gang🔥💣💥💯🐈
@@williamstenberg1220 Nothing fancy, just a lot of the method of movement book. I spend a lot of time on technique before I work on notes and different pieces.
Great playing. Your marimba playing is stellar. This performance is on par with the Vida Chenoweth recording; frankly, this is a world class performance. The level of technical prowess is impressive. Thanks for sharing this musical masterpiece of early marimba repertoire. Often these pieces are overlooked and they present technical and physical problems for the marimbist that are fundamental to becoming a better player. Once again, tremendous playing.

Thank you for such a tremendously kind review! I’m happy you also enjoy these Musser etudes, I’m working on the Whole Tone one right now actually!
I hope I play as well as you did for this piece! I’m doing this piece for Solo and Ensemble!
Thank you and good luck!
What four-Mallet technique do you use?
Musser grip-Stevens' technique!
Sheesh 😂😂
Thanks for checking it out haha
Hot cross buns when?
Too hard
