In a recent interview, Ms McGraw said she first realized they were making something special when they filmed the hospital scenes, she looked over, and half the crew were crying.
I was engaged to the most beautiful girl in the world. She died shortly after of cancer, aged 18. That was 42 years ago. I still miss her, I still cry sometimes when I think of her, like now, I still go to her grave most weeks even though I'm an atheist and I know she isn't there. I've married twice over the years, but she was the only woman I have ever been in love with. This amazing film was so well done I would recommend it to anyone, just bring the tissues.

I’m surprised that Hollywood, with its penchant for remakes and reboots never attempted to try with this one. I guess they knew well enough to leave alone.
I evision a reboot with an all black cast. Michael B. Jordan as Oliver Nautri Naugthon as Jenny. With Harry Belfonte or Morgan Freeman as Oliver's father and music done by John Legend
I remember my big sister and her friend were suppose to take me to the driving in a kids movie. And I got stuck with this. The music is forever engrained in my memory
My dad had a gentle hand and put our kid sisters and mom on a pedestal. Me the oldest son got his fist and beatings on almost a daily basis and hated him. I loved my mom with all my heart and never blamed her from what he did to me. I lost my mom to a rare autoimmune disease that took her from a healthy 68 year old woman to her death bed in 9 months. This exact scene was my dad crying in my moms arms begging please don’t leave him behind after 52 years of marriage. I realized then he had a heart to though didn’t know how to use toward me.
I’m sorry Logan. How he treat u makes my heart break. I really hate powerless children being victimized, especially by their parents. I am sorry for ur painful memories but hope that time has healed in some way. ❤
That movie critic Roger Ebert said that this movie is much better than the book. Since I have never seen either I'll take his word for it. She looks a lot younger there than the young lady on that old record cover.
The ethos of the time, year 1970, made this movie a great box-office success. During the 1960s there was this idea that once in 1970 the wonders of modernity will take over the world. However, the 70s would carry quite a load of problems and lashes of hard reality. But in 1970, 100 million teenage girls and boys around the world were very moved by the somewhat look-like-real-people romanticism. The first time when language profanity, nudity, and sex scenes were presented by young actors to youngster audience; it scandalized the parents, but that only pushed the movie popularity up.
Funny how when I see people around me making mistakes I often overlook those mistakes but when I make mistakes the people around me not only spot them but call me out on them and then I feel bad!
What makes me sad is that after half a century this desease kills yet. No progress was made, never. I would expect that in future the science would be able to find a way to cure it, but it never happened and I maybe never will.

I lived these moments, just imagine meeting the love of your life, everything is beautiful and you plan on growing old together, then all of a sudden your world is upside down unexpected, you are told she has 6 months left to live, you have hopes on miracles, then after a month and a half, you watch her heartbeat go down slowly, that makes you feel like a walking corpse.
@@christelleflorine818 I too live through the story. It’s been eight years now, they say it’s easier, but it doesn’t . Only one in my life show me what was I never knew before, but he showed me and then one night in the middle of the night. He left our world .My world left me never be the same again you think the grief last forever the grief last just for a while, and then the grief disappears, and then something else happens a complete emptiness inside and there’s nothing left inside of you anymore and you have no idea how to go on with your life because the one you ready to spend your life with is no longer there with you begin to survive in an empty world and where do you begin?

It is so bad. I thought Jenny died of acute myologenous leukemia. I knew Jenny had some type of cancer that turned out to get much worse and eventually terminal and caused Jenny to succumb.
Very few have the guts to say what a lousy movie this was. The acting was terrible. The story was worse. Love does sometimes mean saying you're sorry. The terrible profanity, the disrespect for parents, the fake "love" all added up to a very empty story.
it's me Joolz Yowza! It's just their opinion. They even knew they would get some push back for the comment, but I have to agree. Some movies age very well as time goes by...some don't. In this scene..the acting isn't the...best. Her delivery isn't the worst, but it isn't the best either.
I completely agree that it's completely unrealistic. If she were really dying she would be emaciated, pale and weak. She would also be in palliative care at the end of her life. Illnesses generally tend to take a lot out of a human body this is not well done or believable.
It's a classic and that is a fact. It is not something to be liked, but something to be appreciated. For today's terms some of the old acting would be incredibly bad, for the old terms some of today's acting is even worse. Despite the quality it's a classic and one of the greatest movies. You may not like it but you can't expect for people to not watch and appreciate it and agree with you on top of that.
Amazing chemistry between them, and a tearful, adorable performance.
As whole, a great romantic classic.
