100%. Especially since they chose 2 bikes that you could not compare to the alloy version. The Stumpjumper has different suspension types between the alloy and carbon version and the Trance X had an electronic shock that became the entire review. This is what I have been waiting for.
Agree. Also couldn't agree more with the comment in the video about less travel more squats. I'd rather but the effort in on the bike and in the gym that spend the extra thousand or so on carbon
I like the looks of black (and as a whole) linkage in this Ripley. It's interesting, nice shape, it pops. But man, it's a mud gatherer this one, and all the gaps are in the line of mud fire! A 35cm (larger size) mini front fender, just the simple plastic sheet one is going to be a must imo

I almost bought the ripmo AF last year, Ibis please talk to your Australian distributors, even with the exchange rate factored in, they are taking the piss with pricing.
take a look at radons lineup for example the skeen trail 120/130 bike with modern geo and real value 😋 also great, the cragger , the slide trail , and swoop , all together still cheaper than the specialized enduro top spec one 🤯at 3k each with the cragger at 1.2 k
The lower spec fox forks are great forks for the money though. Maybe not as much of a screaming deal as the dvo (and 4 piston brakes) on the ripmo, but I think for the person this bike is targeted at, the spec is ideal.
@@Slinkylinky179 i don't quite think so , rs offers a bit better deal for you money, but the thing is you can get carbon frames with better specs for this kind of money, so not as a big deal as they say , but fox 34s are great
@@Basement_CNC that's true, but the value of a frame with the geometry you're looking for and a good pedaling suspension system is where this becomes a good deal. Ibis is a little more of a "premium brand". A bike at this spec from other brands that get that moniker (santa cruz, pivot, yeti, whatever) would likely be pricier. But I feel you, brands like yt can definitely get you on a carbon bike with gx eagle at this price. I just think it is still accurate to call this a good value. 3k for a bike the average rider would have zero reason to upgrade anything on with a proven suspension platform and great geo is a good value. I'd also take deore and fox over rs and sram, but I've owned both and like both. Just a slight personal preference

Weighs a ton for that travel, lowest budget Shimano groupset (6100) and entry level (although good enough) Fox suspension. Wouldn't see the frame bringing it over a grand extra value compared to similar other bikes.
I love the travel on my new bike. I'm not young any more and it allows me to do cool stuff without killing my joints and back. I am alloy though and don't regret it.

We need more affordable light and capable bikes. Been looking really hard recently at what's available ~3000€ for downcountry bikes - well, not much there to be honest. The cheapest one is maybe epic evo at an eye watering 4000 euros with a reba..... Jeez.. Either the bikes are overbuilt to be near enduro and total overkill, or xc with 1990s geo. Or super expensive. Hope we can get more brands adopt 120~mm travel bikes for all price ranges. To be honest 3k for allu with low end components is not good value imho.
I think calling these “low end components” apart from maybe the wheels, is a bit harsh. The drivetrain works great, it has a dropper, and the suspension is pretty middle of the road with the next upgrade being a grip2 which costs between 1.5 and 2x as much. The damper can also be upgraded down the line if one chooses. Youre also paying for the linkage design/development with ibis. Even comparing it to a DTC bike like the meta TR ride at 2900, this has a nicer drivetrain and a nicer fork. That bike is definitely not downcountry but I think it’s still a fair comparison to make as they’re both ~$3000 aluminum “trail” bikes.
@@futsalkeegan if you look at radon. For 3k you get carbon frame, 36 fox grip2, dpx2, etc. And let's be honest here - yes the suspension may be good, but dwlink is quite basic. This is not some exotic stuff. If it was high pivot - sure, I'd give it more of a pass.
@@GFClocked I’ll have to give radon a look. There’s no such thing as a free lunch but those specs sound like a good option if you’re in the UK. Not sure how a high pivot is more complex... it’s essentially the same as a linkage driven single pivot (control anti-squat, anti-rise, and progression curve, and you choose pivot/axle path). The DW-link has more parameters and thus must be more fine tuned to achieve the desired ride characteristics that give it the ability to do something a single pivot can’t (supposedly, I cannot say I’ve ridden one).
