I've been a silent viewer since you all started, I found you after your second ever video, and I must break that silence to say that I absolutely love your channel. I always go to any of your videos when I need a break from being overwhelmed in my own life. I know that you go through plenty of struggles (who wouldn't in buy an abandoned house and starting from scratch), but I have to at least say: Thank you for giving me a bit of hope when all seems grim. Cheers!
You're lucky to have such a brave & fearsome guard dog like Pancake. I'm sure the monkeys were secretly terrified of his mighty barking. What a good boy.
Every time I watch one of your videos, I am reminded why I miss Japan so much. I love my country, but there is something about Japan that will always be there. Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us.
Watching this video brought back all my precious childhood memories living in a remote village in India. I feel extremely lucky to be able to experience a rural life in the beginning of my life. Though I was just a kid back then, my memories of helping the adults working in the farm, planting rice plants, watching them turn golden from green and hervesting them are still as fresh as yesterday.!!! Someday I wish to relive my past once again in a peaceful countryside!!
I have been appreciative of your video presentation style and appreciate the personality of your narrative; and I LOVED this video. To feel rice farming personalized, laugh at Pancake's window warnings and well.. get Really HUNGRY for some Ginger snacks. (They looked PERFECT 👌🏼 my mother would approve). FANTASTIC & THANKS
I love exploring Japan & Japanese culture thru ur lenses, but seeing you cook/prepare a new dish in your house or do any other house activities is one of my favorite things to watch from your channel ^-^
Pancake is the only reason I watch your channel. Seriously though. I can relate to your lifestyle now that we moved from the US to Portugal. My husband and I did not moved to a rural area but we have a huge backyard that we could almost turn into a farmland. Your channel is very inspiring we both are learning from scratch especially building up a garden of our own. But seriously though, I only watch your channel because of Pancake. More video pleaaaase?!!!!!
I have been enjoying your videos very much, they are so calming and interesting. And those ginger cookies look delicious! Would you mind sharing the recipe?
I enjoy your videos so much! The gentle cadence, the local color, and the glimpse into the processes - from cooking to growing - are so well-presented. You’re entertaining and informative. If it weren’t for the final outtakes, viewers would think it was effortless 😊 many, many thanks for your channel, please give Pancake a big head scritch from me ❤
I have watched your videos since very early on. I really love the way you put them together. I also just saw you featured in The Japan Times! Thank you for the past year of lunch time viewing content.
love the video, the sketchy mountain roads are the best, you find some great little places if you just wander through them. Although they can be pretty dangerous, I almost had an intimate moment with the front of a dump truck that had no business being on that small of a road. Keep up the great videos
These videos as always are amazing! I wish you all the best of luck with finding a home and cannot lie, I look forward to the wonderful journeys in the future!
I LOVE!!! your voice as well as your utterly delightful narration; the vast majority of us will never visit Japan, more's the pity, so this is an exceptionally lovely treat. BTW I live in the Okanagan BC, today is June 2nd and there's snow on the Coquihalla,, the most unusual Spring ever
Good luck finding your home in the beautiful place of Japan you guys are so lucky to be there iam jealous it’s so beautiful there. Take care I love your videos 😊
Love these videos. So glad I found you. I went to Japan for the first time last year and can't wait to come back. Are you planning on fixing up Akiya's and eventually renting them out to travelers?
Lovely akiya house hunting!! We know the excitement because we do the same thing in Kagawa! hahaha It's been 5 years since we've moved in here, and we do say, "Oh, that house looks so great! With that was akiya house!"
I'm not sure if you even see this but if you do I want you to know that you guys give me so much inspiration and hope. I want to start a life with my wife soon and you guys give me a lot of direction on how it should be. Even though I just found your guys's videos I would like to say that I'm watching everyone from the beginning and I respect everything you guys were doing
Hey Mika & Jesse. Love the house hunting. For my 2 cents worth house 3 or 4. I think there would be an interesting story about the barn fire. What ever happened they occupants did well in not loosing the entire structure. I love bamboo shoots done yakitori. Thank you for a really nice video. Cheers. d
i absolutely love this content .. fabulous presentation from beautifuL village .. 🍀 .. wishing you a great and bLessed day .. and greetings from 🇮🇩 Indonesia .. 👏🏻
In my opinion, 02.48 - 02.56 it will better if you turn the backsound music off and let any nature sound emerge with your video. Thanks for sharing your videos, have a blessed day 😊
I was kind of wondering where you hang your laundry, and/or your futon. Thanks for including this bit. My wife's family in Tokyo never made the transition to an electric dryer, just the clothes washing machine.
A traditional Japanese farmer sits in his garden gazing blankly at the scenery, thinking that a certain wild plant is about ready to be eaten. Yes, he knows everything that is happening in the landscape as far as the eye can see.
I think she mentions that the owners of the house want to keep it in the family so it’s not for sale. I think Mika and Jesse want a bigger place to live, anyway :)
I also see a lot in your videos that you ask for people in the comments to give you ideas for new videos and I really would like to know how you and your partner Jesse relationship has grown or strengthened over time after you guys moved in in Japan. From watching your videos it seems like you guys have both made compromises to be happier with each other and I'm looking forward to living the rest of my life with my best friend and partner aka wife
You stated you work for an inbound media company. How is the internet connection in the Japanese countryside? In Mongolia, its near impossible to work remotely outside capital city (even in the city we have frequent power outages). Would you mind me asking which company you work for (creative media companies for foreigners are so hard to find).
I suggest cooking bamboo shoots sauteed with sardines and a bit of tomato sauce. You can add a chili for enhanced flavor. It's a common recipe here in the countryside of the Philippines. You can check these videos : ruclips.net/user/results?search_query=bamboo+shoots+with+sardines Happy eating!
I'm so torn that the family wants to keep the house and not sell it. I understand their feelings, but I can't help feeling bothered that they're profiting from your hard work. Do they truly want to keep it in their family and cherish memories, or do they simply want to keep profiting off others need for shelter?
Since you make sure to say you both Canadians in the intro of every video I assume you get this question a lot and it probably bothers you very much. But if that's not the case, can ask if you have some native Canadian heritage? Accept my apology and feel free to ignore this comment if that's a sensitive topic or just bothersome.

Pancake has grown up to be so handsome! Hope you find the perfect home to buy this year.
I really love those views when you are looking for akiya houses. Truly like something outta Ghibli movie ❤
Every time I watch one of your videos, I am reminded why I miss Japan so much. I love my country, but there is something about Japan that will always be there.

Loved the suspenseful pink panther style music in the monkey scene! And from then on it was a sweet escape to somewhere far away. Thanks!
Bamboo tastes good in miso soup.

Spring is one of the nicest time of the year ❤
I made Christmas Gingerbread cookies in Japan - Molasses was hard to find, but they were very well recieved!
Thank you very much for sharing rice cultivation. Once I requested it. I would like to know methods and technology that use in Japanese countryside.
I have watched your videos since very early on. I really love the way you put them together. I also just saw you featured in The Japan Times! Thank you for the past year of lunch time viewing content.
I love the charming island you live on. Looking forward to seeing what you find as your forever home.

We use bamboo shoots and other vegetables to make spring rolls. Or as a garnish for sweet and sour sauce poured over fried fish.
Lovely video as always (I especially like the little animation); thanks for sharing!
Love these videos. So glad I found you. I went to Japan for the first time last year and can't wait to come back. Are you planning on fixing up Akiya's and eventually renting them out to travelers?

Weird thing to comment on, but where do you get your jumpsuits? I always notice them and think they're so work functional and cool!
So beautiful!

Hi, just wondering, what do you for income here in country side ?
How do you manage healthcare?
I'm so torn that the family wants to keep the house and not sell it. I understand their feelings, but I can't help feeling bothered that they're profiting from your hard work. 4:22 Didn’t know they could be that red

Pick-pocket Pancake! 😄He's so fricken cute! Especially when he's sleepy. 🥰
Thank you for answering the question: "why are you looking for another akiya?"
i have to agree with jesse, akiya number 4 looks absolutely fantastic
I always get so excited when I see you have posted another video. I can't wait to watch this one!
I really enjoy your editing style. It gives me so much peace 🌻
Hi Mika I’m Connie from Joshua Tree California, love your program so beautiful love the weather. Blessings 🙏❤️
First time ever. Mastiff Skye started barking when Pancake barked at the monkey.
You guys are so clever with the music editing! You def don’t need narration to convey what’s going on❤
Ah, shinachiku. I feel like Jesse is 10 minutes away from creating a vegan ramen recipe with this bamboo. Maybe like a Sano ramen in a vegetable shio broth.
BABE, Antoher video released! Come see! and greetings from Finland, love your hard work.
Wish I get to taste countryside farming life experience for a week or two
Jesse is a Molly Dooker? 7:51. Brotherhood confirmed.
