I do think sex scenes can work if everyone agrees to it in session 0, but even then, just have the decency to not describe every move or sound you make. If you ask me, just mention the spicy setup, make some funny lines, then make a fancy fade to black and skip to where you're cuddling. If I want to roleplay a sexual scene I know far better places to play that out.
@@Frost3yte I never said it was. Also, not just this group. Imo, D&D is not the ideal outlet for sexuality, so shame on anybody who incorporates NSFW roleplay, unless it's that kind of roleplay space
The minute Iris asked if the doll was made anatomically correct so the dad could do stuff, I would've left then and there. That is already a red flag for me. The fact they continue to push oofual stuff into the campaign would've had ne call it quits after the first session, especially the implied graping sections. This DM cearly has issues, and quite possibly sociopathy if the behavioural descriptions are anything to go by - possibly narcissim to boot. On top of that, autism is NOT an excuse for the type of toxic behaviour Iris was showcasing, and they knew exactly what they were doing when they used it. Basically, they need therapy. Or Jesus (and I say that as an athiest). Whichever comes first.
"... So he could use her in other ways too..." I know that people come from different places, and have gotten used to different things and aren't shocked enough to break ties with someone over one or two red flags, but that should end friendships.
I played D&D 3 times. I had fun the first 2 times and the third was so unorganized, I'm pretty sure my turn was skipped twice. I thought about joining roll20 years ago but decided against it when my schedule started filling up and a failure to interest a friend who had her own campaign running with her friends. Considering where tabletop is these days and this entire group, early on, sounded mentally ill, I think I saved myself a great headache.
What a disastrous DM. I thought the "that guy" DM was bad, but Iris takes the cake as the worst DM documented yet. Some may be more extreme in aspects, but given Iris has so many awful bases covered, it's enough to make you shiver!
"DM was regularly taking long walks without muting himself" Cmon thats some fanfic, no way anybody tolerates that for more than 3 minutes You start gossiping with strangers on any busy group call you get kicked instantly.
wow. just... I'm lost for words. I listen to these dnd-horror-stories about what *not* to do, because I'm a fairly new DM and I want to avoid mistakes. But this... not my game, not my rolls. (luckily)
Yeah, I'm glad to know that no matter how bad that I've messed up as a starting DM. It was always just like lack of preparation instead of whatever this story is... I'm always horrified with how these DMs conduct themselves.
I'll take a noob DM over the monster called Iris any day. I'd be new myself lol, so we would be learning and growing together. I have wanted to get into DND, but there's an overabundance of weirdos in the hobby
I'm only 13 mins in & there have already been multiple hard points where I would have just walked away from that DM..and there is 2 hours of these stories? I don't understand why they tolerated it for so long.
I think a lot of the time it’s like the fear of the next situation being worse. In stories where people are close friends and family that simply can’t play well together at the table, I feel bad because you don’t want to make the rest of your interactions awkward, but for cases where it’s all online… I’m surprised too people don’t opt for the block button.
I'm only 30 minutes in and it sounds like Iris isn't ace but was a victim of childhood SA IRL and instead of going to therapy she's inflicting her trauma on the party.
Iris shows every sing there is of being a predatory sociopath who will lie about themselves and the game and the story and the stats and anything, in order to make the party's players suffer as much as possible. It's not about the game at all, it's not about having any fun, it's about inflicting as much mental agony as possible and reveling in how all these people that Iris don't view as Human (in the world of a sociopath they are the only person that exists) are suffering, and therefore this is no different from repeatedly kicking a chained-up dog or frying ants with a magnifying glass, cackling with glee all the way. Iris is unfit to be alive (no sociopath is) but the party should have revolted a long time ago, called Iris out on their BS a long time ago, and not only rejected them but warned anyone and everyone they could about this wretched creature.
Yikes. I may not have a lot of experience with D&D, none of my experiences with it ever lasted more than a session, but I recognize all the red flags. All of them.
How about don't play with them instead I get it can be hard to speak up but he'll you guys just let them keep going and going to a point you are at fault as well don't go to the game just dont play with that freak
Yeah, one of the best pieces of advice is no D&D is better than bad D&D. If you want to play, you can always restart the group with only those who didn't help make this situation happen!
In my experience, it seems like a huge percentage of the D&D community. Almost every group that I've been in has 2 or 3 LGBTQ folks. A lot of people use D&D to escape reality or to act out fantasies that they can't in the real world. They can be whoever they want in D&D and they can act ways that wouldn't be acceptable in the real world. They also don't tend to stick around in my group because we generally play low fantasy, culturally accurate, settings. Meaning, accurate to historical medieval culture. They also have a problem (at least the people at my table) with leaving politics away from the table. The other types that I see a lot are the "I'm gonna SA every attractive NPC I see" and "I'm gonna murder my way to success"... I think the nature of role-playing whoever you want to be draws a ton of mentally unhealthy people...

With being so bad at distance numbers, I don't buy for a second Iris has the 'tism. She's very likely a sociopath, though, without a doubt, and quite predatory. Tell me she isn't a sociopath: "What are the signs of sociopathy? There’s no standard list of sociopath signs, but the signs and symptoms of ASPD include a persistent pattern of disregard for others. I honestly do not believe this story. The players being described are impossibly weak-willed doormats, and "Iris" is essentially a distillatiin of every bad DM into one person.
You really haven't met many people have you? This is far from impossibly weak-willed, it's almost standard school outcast/corporate office standard by this point. "Don't rock the boat unless you want to sink with the ship" Is an honest to God cursed mentality.
I do suspect the OP is a little unreliable as a narrator. But not in that they were impossibly non-confrontational, just in how impossibly good natured the players were, there's a good chance they're glossing over a lot of reciprocal red flags from the players. There's a few hints like how every PC had some angsty trauma background, and all the player panic attacks. It seemed like everyone in the situation was damaged to some degree and clumsily trauma dumping on each other through a game. Iris was probably just the biggest offender rather than the sole offender.
I don't get why groups put up with people like this for so long. Or even invited back several times. After like 2 sessions of this kind of BS that person would be permabanned.
1:06:33 - ... Wow. I have never went from having sympathy for someone to wanting them to never touch tabletop roleplaying games again faster than I have just now. Way to go.
So glad this had a happy ending for the players. Also absolutely love that you guys turned Iris into a meme final boss. The best way to deal with trauma is laughter.
why do players put up with this? If something has happened outside of your agreed upon rules or character's actions just stand up declare "that didn't happen and my character has no part in any of this" and leave the campaign. ffs stop allowing yourselves or your characters to be victimised.
That was a doozy, Iris had more red flags than a communist parade, it's terrible how bad people can manipulate novices in such a way. I sincerely hope nobody allows Iris to DM again, she or he will just end putting other people through this.
As a representative of Canadians, I am humbly requesting the transfer of “Iris” to the Americans due to their actions not lining up with the traditional Canadian goals of being “Too Nice to Everyone” and for not “Repeatedly apologizing for their actions, even if they aren’t at fault”
As a representative of the americans, we would like to humbly decline your offer due to her being too much of a narcissist. I'm gonna have to pass this onto the indians.
Ok, I finally regained enough of my composure to type a reaction, because after the harrowing tales described in the majority of the saga, the "there are no black people in Australia" bit was so baffling and unexpected that I burst out laughing! That was a perfect way to end it!
Just like in a story, the Heroes (OP and friends) were brought together by a Villain (Iris) and after overcoming the villain went on to remain best friends. Y'all literally played out a fantasy story while role-playing a fantasy RPG.
This "iris" person has to have some sort of bipolar multiple personality manic disorder along with some debilitating form of autism combined with past abuse, that first story about the Sexual assault stuff that constantly kept coming up is so obviously them projecting their trauma on others. This person needs a mental evaluation by a professional and to never ever run a DND game for anyone ever again. Its also on all the OP's for playing with this person for so long and I understand as someone who's typically non-confrontational myself but there's a line you don't cross. This person is obsessive, narcissistic and dangerous. Hurt people, hurt people as they say.
I don't think Iris was a bad DM. I think Iris was instead just not all that great of a person, yet I can't help but think she was doing SOMETHING right. I've been with 'bad' DM's and usually the party drops them pretty quick (exceptions... Do happen.). I can't help but feel that Iris while she didn't do great work as a DM with any of the technical DM stuff or treat her players right, I still think she must have been able to make some pretty fantastic scenarios for her players to keep coming back to play despite all this nonesense. Whether her stories were interesting, her characters or her personality really chimed with her players and they refuse to acknowledge it. I don't think anyone is stupid enough to spend 4-6 hours a week with something they hate for that long. I'm not saying that all she did was fine, but that she must have done Something right... Granted it could also just be that they were friends. Friends will suffer for each other.
I love these stories in particular, but it sounds like even without "Iris" these guys were involved in some oddly adult oriented D&D. Not judging, but that crowd tends to attract extreme personalities(I know from unfortunately very intimate personal experience). I would like to elaborate that most of the people I have met that lean into the dirty potential of D&D are sometimes a little weird, but generally decent people you just get the occasional extreme case. I suspect "Iris" had a great deal of personal trauma before being involved with these people and is in some ways the product of that trauma, I hope they got help.
Blue always calls Iris “they” Rogue also does this but the Barbarian says “him” so now the puzzle pieces click together. A predator masquerading as a non binary autistic asexual that’s always making relationships sexual, that specifically curates his server with people that won’t confront him. I’m sure Iris preyed on people after this party left and deleted their warning message for newer players.
Ok im not suggesting Doxing anyone but someone needs to put this GM's online credentials out there so that other new players don't end up inadvertently finding them selves in this sadistic Jigsaw of a GM's perverted playground. This person is sick in the head and needs serious mental help and is a genuine danger to unassuming people on the internet. And the whole thing with the minors is just a whole different kind of RED FLAG and borderline signs of a predator in the making.
Even the stuff with Rouge when they were 19 screams grooming and someone starting out just above the line they aren't supposed to cross. Also the line about "I just get along with younger people, it's cus I'm Autistic" is supper sus after someone doesn't comprehend the issue with them 1 on 1 RP'ing with a minor when they are an adult.
I feel like iris has some kind of vendetta against all type of sexual encounters, and uses dming as a way to express it... Even tho they are ace, from what i hear in the story, they sound like they want to make sex in general a negative thing 🤔
I thought "SA" was already a shorthand to dodge any algorithm blocking the real phrase. I think some people make these up because they think it's funny, not because it's actually necessary or even useful
@@DaRealKovi you completely missed my point. SA sounds like "essay" when pronounced. It's confusing and cringe. If you want to evade the algorithms, you say "sexual assault".
Oh man. An hour in and the person has lost me. People complaining about "wokeness" in games doesn't mean you can't have all those characters. It's such a stupid straw man. I hate when people do that. Wokeness is a problem in games when the game is so focused on things like DEI that they forget to make any of the characters interesting or write a good story. Proof? See BG3. 🙄 Massively popular and successful game that just happens to have those characters in it. Very few people are complaining about its wokeness. Anyway, rant over. I hate that argument; too many game companies use it as an excuse for their games failing and it's not even a real one.
BG3 did romance terribly (for all options). Specifically, it's impossible to talk/learn about any companion without falling into the romance options. They should have at least made it somewhat difficult to trigger. So the player has to deliberately pursue it rather than "uhhh sorry I was just trying to learn more about you sorry bye 👋 ".
@@RanMouri82 well that's an over exaggeration if I ever saw one. You can dislike the game, but don't lie like that 🤣 For the longest time I didn't want to play it because it was too popular. I didn't like that there was a genital slider because it meant there would be sex scenes where you'd see genitals, but then I saw you had to turn explicit content on or the slider wouldn't even show up. I saw the character of Astarion, who was an elven vampire rogue, and got mad because it's exactly the kind of character I would've liked to play in a single player game where my character's awful personality only affects NPCs. When I realized I /could/ play as him, I decided to give the game a shot and had a blast.

For someone who claimed to be asexual she added ALOT of sex
@deviousj5868 it wasn't just the DM, at least from what ive been hearing.
@@Frost3yte I never said it was. Also, not just this group. Imo, D&D is not the ideal outlet for sexuality, so shame on anybody who incorporates NSFW roleplay, unless it's that kind of roleplay space
I don't get why people don't immediately leave the game and block the DM.
I'm only 6:45 in the story and I would definitively have left.
I'd honestly have to say everyone here is at fault, terrible DM/person and (albeit unwillingly) enabling players. Jesus this saga hurt.
I have a very accurate image of what “Iris” looks like in real life and it is not appealing.
iris is most certainly a woman
Yeah, the multiple grammatical slips make me believe "Iris" has a five-o'clock shadow and XY chromosomes.
*image of Isabella Janke from the CWCiki goes here*
This her?😬
22:00 Alright... I'm getting off here, cant stand to listen anymore. By this point, If you're still talking to this person I cant feel sorry for you
What a disastrous DM. I thought the "that guy" DM was bad, but Iris takes the cake as the worst DM documented yet. Some may be more extreme in aspects, but given Iris has so many awful bases covered, it's enough to make you shiver!
"DM was regularly taking long walks without muting himself"
Cmon thats some fanfic, no way anybody tolerates that for more than 3 minutes
You start gossiping with strangers on any busy group call you get kicked instantly.
wow.
I liked Op/Blue's character ideas of the porcelain doll cleric and reverse red riding hood.
Thank you!
The porcelain doll character sounded so cool. Too bad the DM was an a$$hole
I would not be surprised at all.
Or she is just a sick individual.
Gay Bars? What? Are half the p&p players gay or trans??
@aaronaxel4760 Im no experienced GM myself, just did some rounds for close friends and joined others as a Player, when i knew the GM before in RL. I can See where you're coming from, i still find it highly disturbing. It's just a wild guess, i'd say its due to Pen&Paper going mainstream. I prefered it when it Was still for freakin' needs.
Thanks for your reply, by the way. Have some marvelous rounds, i also prefer low-fantasy/realism approaches. To Bad most ppl i know prefer high-Fantasy "every1's a freaking hero-maincharacter" shit. To Each their own, i guess.
seems like this is mostly the player's fault for not ditching that DM, nobody forced anyone to keep playing with a bad DM 🤷
With being so bad at distance numbers, I don't buy for a second Iris has the 'tism.
She's very likely a sociopath, though, without a doubt, and quite predatory.
Tell me she isn't a sociopath:
"What are the signs of sociopathy?
There’s no standard list of sociopath signs, but the signs and symptoms of ASPD include a persistent pattern of disregard for others. For example:
ignoring social norms and laws, breaking rules at school or work, overstepping social boundaries, stealing, stalking and harassing others, or destroying property
dishonesty and deceit, including using false identities and manipulating others for personal gain
difficulty controlling impulses and planning for the future, or acting without considering the consequences
aggressive or aggravated behavior, including frequent fights or physical conflict with others
disregard for personal safety, or the safety of others
difficulty managing responsibilities, including showing up at work, handling tasks, or paying rent and bills
little to no guilt or remorse, or a tendency to justify actions that negatively affect others
People with ASPD generally show little emotion or interest in the lives of others. They might:
come across as arrogant or superior, with firmly fixed opinions
use humor, intelligence, and charisma to manipulate
seem charming at first until their self-interest becomes clear
People with ASPD generally find it challenging to maintain friendships, relationships, and other mutually fulfilling connections. This difficulty may stem from traits, like:
low empathy and emotional intelligence
difficulty learning from mistakes
lack of concern for the safety of others
a tendency to intimidate and threaten in order to maintain control"

Just why would you stay at this dms table....
someone "not being able to handle the stress of not being in total control of the world they're playing in" is like.. the reddest red flag to me. Yeeowch. Like, no shade on someone for not being built for every kind of roleplaying, but they were juuuuust shy of having enough self-awareness about being a control freak. Everything Iris says or does flags them as having intense control issues to me.
Im 8 min in and confused at what im listening to. None of this canonically would make sense in the middle ages even if mosters and magic existed
Holly shit this is like every abusive relationship ever rolled into one DM, and I still have over an hour to go.
I...yeah this game has changed a little too much . Every time i think about coming back and playing stories like these change my mind and stories like these are becoming much more common.
Sadly, when it got more mainstream, a lot of people like that picked it up. Not to say they didnt exist before, but the amount nowadays...
But as with everything else, you just have to find the right people.
Crazy DM aside, why is it that all of these stories involve groups of people who want to role play like it’s a teen fantasy / romance novel? That sounds just awful to play.
@@jackson68x to everyone their own

Hey thanks for the stories. Iv only been in like 2 dnd games but it's fun to hear these wild experiences.
So many of these horror stories could be handled more efficiently by a single hefty "shut the f*** up or you can leave".

22 mins in. Iris seems like a scumbag, but the other players seem like spineless types.
Also ofcourse something with assumedly early 20 Y/Os based on the bachelor's comment acting like spineless people & deviants would happenon discord. Lmao.
Average discord users.
Freak ass DM turns out to be a freak lmao big shock tbhwy
I don't get why groups put up with people like this for so long. Or even invited back several times. After like 2 sessions of this kind of BS that person would be permabanned.
1:06:33 - ... Wow. I have never went from having sympathy for someone to wanting them to never touch tabletop roleplaying games again faster than I have just now. Way to go.
Dunno why, that's hilarious.
What do you mean?
Same. Mocking those who are sick of wokeness is like calling normal people the "unwashed masses".
@RanMouri82 shut up. Literally no one is forcing this on you.
Right off the bat, barely like 5 mins in, it seems like Iris has some f-ed up sexual trauma that they are offloading on their party.
This story is too insane to be true. I’m just halfway done with the video and it’s too nuts.
I’ve had some bad sessions but nothing like this.
Just because someone self-identifies as asexual doesn't mean the person is sexually healthy. Clearly, that DM had issues.
Something dark must've happened to her.
@deviousj5868 Or exposure to creepy pr0n.
I think that Iris may have been trying to use the nsfw campaign to tell players their biased opinion of sex.
That was a doozy, Iris had more red flags than a communist parade, it's terrible how bad people can manipulate novices in such a way. I sincerely hope nobody allows Iris to DM again, she or he will just end putting other people through this.
When in doubt, use „they/them“. =)
Nah you keep your perverts up there we have more than enough people and problems
Bury her at sea. That way, only the fish must suffer.
As another representative of Americans I propose we send Iris to the French people instead
We, the people of the U.S. are disinclined to acquiesce to your request.
"I looked up to Iris as a DM."
This person is the slowest on the uptake I've ever seen.
That one campaign uses the word "simulacrum" so much Im not entirely sure what they are anymore
Hey, loot! Haven't heard from you in a while!
Yeah, I'm getting back into the swing of things!

@@barfrodgers1202 same
Why not lol

Ooohhhh OP is a freak too. Figures
35:49 is the best moment
I'm only about nine minutes in and I have too call it quits, why would anyone stay with this DM?
The final post by Blue, everything being described is textbook grooming applied to a DnD group. Down to selecting victims with very specific criteria.
enchanting is in the game in 5e and this is how it works i think ti was in tashas?
She was obviously molested and is trying to work through it in an inappropriate manner. She needs help.
I feel like iris has some kind of vendetta against all type of sexual encounters, and uses dming as a way to express it... Even tho they are ace, from what i hear in the story, they sound like they want to make sex in general a negative thing 🤔
"Mentions of essay".

@RanMouri82 the fact that you see my message, proves that it would not.
I mean this does seem a little excessive though, literally every fucking character is gay lmao but I guess one audience likes that
BG3 did romance terribly (for all options). Specifically, it's impossible to talk/learn about any companion without falling into the romance options.
They should have at least made it somewhat difficult to trigger. So the player has to deliberately pursue it rather than "uhhh sorry I was just trying to learn more about you sorry bye 👋 ".

For the longest time I didn't want to play it because it was too popular. I can't help but notice that you keep misreading parts of what's written. Maybe you should take some more time to internalise these stories as if you were rehearsing for a play. It is pretty distracting.
Yooo you shouldn’t start the episode saying people who come from a place of pain inflict pain upon others. It is true but not for everyone, i dont even think thats the majority. Could be very toxic if people start thinking like that
Right? As if abuse is an excuse for abusing others.
