It is quite beautiful. Did they live there once as their primary residence? The art is stunning.

Yeah. King William III, Queen Wilhelmina and Queen Juliana lived in it.

from the building period until the second world war, it was used as Summer Palace.
So every year in spring until the hunting season the court travelled to here. In Winters, everyone and everything traveled back to the Hague, for the warmth of the city.
Joost: Juliana lived here only in her youth.

@@RoyalTVnl I think I have some memory of a photo of Prince Philip and Prince Bernhardt at this palace back in their salad days. I recall they both worked on environmental issues even oh so long ago. Thanks.

@@RoyalTVnl But Dutch Monarchy as One of the three in Importance together with the Britts and the Spaniards have in my Opinion VAST legacy and paints , tapestries, Documents , and furniture, not just in Rich NETHERLANDS but from the palaces in Belgium after the separation from that part from the Dutch Kingdom and the injustice of the separation of the Grand duchy of Luxembourg after Queen Wilhemina coudnt be Heir of that Dutch land because it can only be rule by a Male ruler , all this estate , From the Berg Palace or from the Royal palace of Brussels was moved to Netherlands .im so Impress but also Delighted that the Wonderful , Smart and Storm Personality Statuete majestic Queen MAXIMA IS REIGNING THERE A CONSORT , YES BUT A queen is a queen and if is MAXIMA you are talking about the Most Popular , Charismatic , Elegant and Sweet Monarch.

It was not destroyed because it wasn't a military target. A lot was looted and damaged however.
