I do really love having both of them. I use the M18 a lot but should start using the M12 more
      Thanks Jeff

I had a 1/2” M12 that completely lost its torque. Tried multiple batteries it just doesn’t have any chooch anymore. Only a year old and used a few times. I’m switching to the M18 3/8” because I have an earthquake XT from harbor freight that is a beast and still going strong after 7 years.

I think sometimes the hammer or anvil breaks inside and instead of hard hits you get a bit of a rattle. I wish you luck on your next one. It does suck when they decide they don't want to chooch anymore.

I've used both! The M12 has its place that's for sure! Has plenty of power to get the basic home owner through. The 18 will do a professional deck.

Yep, they are both pretty good. I try to mix it up when I use them.

I going to switch to Milwaukee because the newer Craftsman 20 volt stuff I got isn't any good. Both my little batteries have the cases split open from a 3 foot drop and my drill the motor chuck is wobblily like the whole motor is loose on the inside. I can't believe the torque those 1/2 bolts took.

I have been very happy with Milwaukee so far. I have only had one issue and it was corrected pretty fast. Those bolts were grade 8 fasteners from Nuts and Bolts .com.
It is a pretty good kit.

There's a lot of times I'd like to have a cordless ratchet or impact gun, but I only do occasional jobs and can't see investing in cordless tools at the moment. I still use my air tools.

I understand, it can be a big investment especially if it doesn’t get used much

I agree with you Jethro, it depends on what you're doing and for how long you're going to be doing it for. I love the M12. It ends up being lighter and more comfortable to deal with all day. I have both in a number of tools. I have done a lot of different hands-on jobs in my life. Auto mech, Aviation mech, House builder and Maintenance tech. I continue to do a little of all these things...minus aviation, although my main tools are my loudmouth and a computer. it's good to be the Boss. I like having a wide variety of tools to choose from. I once used the 12 Volt Dewalt line and was always a Dewalt kind of guy when it came to battery operated tools. But the Dewalt 12v stuff didn't hold up back then. This was back a few years...maybe a decade, but I switched to the M12 and have been a Milwaukee guy ever since. I have some M18 stuff and find them to be great tools. I have a 1/2-inch stubby impact, an impact driver, 7 1/2-inch circular saw, track saw and some others, but I'd rather use the M12 if it will get the work done and I have a shit ton of M12. I even have a couple of Hercules I use as back up or at the summer house. The big boy impact of the Hercules line is good for me, I'm not using it daily. I like the thing. I'm reminded of my first battery operated drill, the 9v Makita. Not much torque but it was way faster than using my Yankee screwdriver. That was in the early to mid 1980's.

Yep, I went from Dewalt and C3 line of Craftsman. The M12 and M18 have done a great job for me.

Nice tools, but for the limited need, pneumatic is the way to go for me. With battery units, I'm most likely to have a dead battery when I need it. And thanks for the tool from w recent giveaway, fits good in with everything else.

That used to be the case with old Nicad stuff but with the Lithium I have had batteries sit for months and were still fully charged.

These batteries could be charged twice a year and still be fine. That being said if your use is limited I think it’s best to disconnect them from the tool.
