STORY
Madhosh is a 1951 Indian Bollywood social, family drama film released on Jan 01, 1951. The film is directed by J. B. H. Wadia, produced by J. B. H. Wadia under banner named Wadia Films.
Soni(Meena Kumari) and Raya(Manhar) belong to families who are enemies. Soni and Raya both have the attitude But gradually they fall in love. At the same time Raina(Usha Kiran) also loves Raya but Raya has no feelings for Raina. One day in an accident Raya wounded a police man. Afraid, Raya leaves his village and goes to Bombay with Soni and Raina. Raya and Soni get married. But since Raya lived a luxurius life earlier he feels that it would be difficult for Soni to manage it. Raya start tourtouring Soni and one day finally Soni leaves Raya and comes back to the village with Anand(Rayan). But now Raya realises the love for Soni and goes to the village to meet her but police try to capture him. Police start firing in which Raya and Soni both die.
Storyline..
For one thing, it is a beautiful word used very often in poetry and literature. It ccan well be translated in English as meaning "ENRAPTURED" or "INTOXICATED". But, MADHOSH has more than one connotation. For example, one who is drunk deep in the necctar of love is said to be MADHOSH. One who is intoxicated with power can also be called MADHOSH. One who is immersed in saintly thoughts like, say, a Sufi, is also referred to as MADHOSH. . Our lyrical film, then, is a story of certain human beings who are Madhosh in one or the other sense of that delightfully thrilling word. . Sardar Rambhaji is a virtual tyrant, intoxicated with power. He has brought up his son Raya in his own image, with the result that Raya has been leading a reckless life, irresponsive to all finer sentiments and human values. But the hand of fate brings him in contact with Soni and when he is drunk deep in the nectar of true love, his better self prevails and he atones for his misdeeds by doing the most splendid act of his mis-spent life in his last moments. . Raina, the fire-flame of the jungle and daughter of the Bhil Chieftain Shakriya, is also lost in her sublime love for Raya. But her love leads her to put away her own selfishness, and in the best tradition of noble womanhood she decides to be on the side of Soni, who is her rival in love for Raya. . Bhujba Maharaj, the Saint of Sajalpur and father of Soni, has a heart as big as the sky and as deep as the ocean. He does all that is humanly possible to end the feud of a century between his family and that of Sardar Rambhaji. . Well, then, in our most unusual film MADHOSH (which has been daringly adapted from the masterpiece and prizewinning novel called PANKALA by R.V.Dighe, B.A.LL.B.) is a story of conflicts, a saga of human souls who have been "MADHOSH" in one sense or the other To reavel its episodes is to deprive you of all its glorious thrills. . Suffice it to say here that MADHOSH is a film, which moves on from incident to incident like a mighty avalanche, the rumblings of will linger in your memory muhc after you have witnessed its surging climax and reconcilled yourself to its logical denouement. This is one of those songs of Talat Ji which haunts the listener for years to come (another one is Jaye to Jaye Kahan from Taxi Driver.) I have cherished it from my childhood when I didn't know what those words meant. Talat Ji had come to the USA in the late eighties/early nineties. He was not in the best of health because of a paralytic stroke but he was still "Talat Mehmood." He had sung this song on my farmaish and I consider that as a gift from Talat Ji.

Raja Mehdi worked with both established and new music composers. Madhosh (1950) was music composer, Madan Mohan's debut film with Raja Mehdi. He had been associated with music composers like Iqbal Qureshi, Babul, S. Mohinder, Chic Chocolate and Rono Mukerjhi to name some. He has written some wonderful songs with C. Ramchandra (Mere piya gaye Rangoon) and O. P. Nayyar (Main Pyar Ka Rahi Hoon). However, he formed an immortal team with Madan Mohan.
