I found this while I was trying to find something online about why my Jazzy power chair makes a rough noise when running. It gets louder as I go faster.
I wish I could have gone to a Vo-Tech school when I was younger ,( I'm 78 now), to learn this kind of stuff because I love it. I didn't understand a lot of what you were talking about but it was fascinating. You did a great job!
Hope you get it sorted. These things can be expensive to repair. though if you take them to a dealer.
I was looking for a different problem ( my free wheel don’t work) but I really did enjoy watching this , hopefully I won’t have the problem you had but if I did I’d know what to do thanks for the upload and good instructions
great result Martin the owner will be happy.. cheers Steve
Yes He was Steve, saved a small fortune.
Well I never thought I'd be interested in mobility scooter videos (give it 40 years) but I was taken in by this. Great work and so well explained. Good skills to learn too, given that we will all be riding electric motorbikes in the future lol. Top stuff, Really enjoyed those 2 vids. Have a virtual pat on the back. Cheers, Mike
Haha, Nice one Mike.
Cheers
Martin
Well done Martin old school who doesn’t let anything beat you
Martin is there nothing you can not fix great video again love it David
Haha, Cheers Dave
Martins mobility repairs. New little business for you. Interesting stuff
Haha, Too much other stuff on Greg lol
Excellent diagnosis and repair, Martin. YOU are the MAN!
Haha, thanks George, You are too lol
Wonderful Martin, glad the chap now is able to be mobile once again. Honestly, this would be a great addition to the mower fixing for you. You can offer better deals than the official places and from what I have seen most with these things don’t have lots of money so it would be a big saving for them and a nice earner for you, win win!
I did think about it a few years ago Ian but didn't do anything with it.
I knew you could do it :-)
The owner will be very happy for sure.
Very well done, and the first step to e-mobility.
Cheers Bernd
He was very happy Bernd.
Cheers
Martin
Thanks for a most informative video. I am suffering the same problem but your video has given me the information I need . So thanks very much.
You've got a real gem there, Martin. A clean and wax will attract the right buyer. As fun as petrol-powered equipment is, it isn't street legal. But at least where I live, there's no restrictions on electric disability equipment. You could have quite a bit of fun souping up a mobility scooter.
Yes, its something I've thought of before but too much on.
Good job Martin, your a man of all trades.
Thanks Dave
Nice one Martin. So pleased it worked for you and the owner.
He's well happy Paul
Beautiful project this time Martin !!! I'm not bored with this video at all !!! Wonderful job ...... !!! :)
Thanks Henk, it was something different.
Hi, that was probably the best choice you made when upgrading to the mk 2 brake. Especially when used costs almost as much as new, and with unknown condition and mk 2 should be much better. That's why they made the change, I belive? Thank you for nice videos, we are very pleased with them. From Sweden.
Thanks bud, glad you enjoyed the vids.
Cheers
Martin
Excellent news as this is the problem I got with my shoprider coroda will hopefully fix it later today.. Cheers 🍻 get video 📹 too
Nice job, a high speed wheel balance and you’re done. Grandkids grow up way too soon, enjoy them.
Thanks Jim, I do bud every day.
Great video. I love how you can figure things out that you have never worked on before. Your Rottweiler is awesome too.
Great video on scooter dx and repair for us non techies!
Another ntce job sorted Mart, First Class Mate.
Baz.
That ride around the garden was like watching Formula 1 on board cameras in the early 90's!
Haha Formula garden lol
Nice finish!
Don't know why they don't sell the e break I need.. it comes in 1 unit good video
excellent job martin bet the guy was well chuffed .............all the best...........dougie
Cheers Doug
This was a great video, I have never touch one of these scooters but it looks like that part seems to go on all of them. Thanks for the information here.
Cheers bud
nice one martin great result. that honda engine was right next to it there though lol
Not long Martin and you`ll be using one. Ha Ha Only kidding mate. Great video, another feather in your cap.
Haha, I hope not lol
Thanks for these videos. Really helpful!!
As we say here in America “ This Guy's a Badass" !!!!!
Very informative! I have an electric commuter scooter & it doesnt have enough power to properly brake on hills & its really unsafe (I live in San Francisco, CA USA) If I have this right it seems I can probably upgrade the cylinder from the stock light use to a med/heavy use. (I have a Mercane Transboard 48v 500w foldable scooter) Thanks again!!!
Good understandable video Martin. IT would be great if you had a branch in New Zealand.
I've got a recent scooter and have small tick about 1 revolution of the front wheel.
thanks for the tech info. thank you Bruce Morgan
Cool, thanks
Well done Martin
Grand job Martin.
Thanks for showing us/me this video
Good job Martin. Could be a new line of work for you. Love the way you do your videos brilliant
Jack
Thanks Jack, too many projects on at the moment though
first class what you saved your friend decent fella martin , that company no far from me
They were very helpful Chris, Nice one.
Cheers
Martin
Nice one Martin well sorted👍🏻
A good result.Well done.
Great info, thanks Sir..!!
Very enjoyable video well explained 👍👍
Thanks, great video.
A Trotter one of those would be a good addition to the fleet plus you'd have one ready for old age ;)
I've a few years ahead of me yet Si lol
Thank you.
You're welcome!
another fine job Martin
Great vid Martin 👍good fix
Cheers Jamie
should of mounted a lawn mower engine on it haha
Evening Mart
Nice work my friend
Thanks Phil
Great ,just what I looking for . Now I driving with the magnet electric cable connected but apart from the motor.
The coil creates a magnetic field that opposes the ferromagnet inside, if the coil is still energizing then the ferro has demagnitized over time so there's less torque, same happens with electric motors that have aged or overheated weakening the magnet.
Another exelent video and I've happily subscribed
thanks bud.
great fix martin !
Cheers Shawn
Great 👍😊
Nice to see another tired old chariot getting a new lease of life. Reconditioned modules are pretty reliable (not had a bad one yet). Hefty price for the 'recommended' new brake module? Recycling keeps the real world spinning!
Good job Martin. Few more years you will be using one not fixing one 😂
Haha not for a while lol
Nice fix Madge! 😜
Haha Steve,
Hi good fix, you should get one it suits you lol. 🙂👍
No way lol
the brake is an electromagnet atracting a cast iron part with a brakeshoe in between
sumtimes the cast metal part gets too magnetic it can cause the part to brake constantly
one solution that sumtimes work is to take the thing a part and slam the cast metal part on a table a few times to demagnitize it , usually fixes it , not allways for a long time but you might get lucky
got to this vídeo because I had a problem with my dads scooter, the company who sold it, asked 200 pounds to replace 4 brushes, and if it doesnt work, if needs a repair its more 700 pounds.
What a mafia…
BTW the scooter was bought new 1 and half year ago.
@Taylors Dad found them in a uk online store. Took 1 month to come... Lol. But cost me 12.50£ a pair.
Thanks.
Nice job well done
Another great video 👏🏻
thants for the vido it was helpfull 👍👍
Cheers Michael
another great vid martin
Thanks Dan
Martin can you send a link to the company in Scotland please. Your channel is great btw.
I included their details in the video Tez
Am new sub enjoying the videos you do a lot that I enjoy doing my self
Nice one John, Thanks for the sub
96 quid and the price of a pint. Your friend must be delighted.
Yes he was Tez
It sounds like a weak coil, the coil will show good but it will be weak and want allow it to operate properly, that's why the tech told you it can't be fixed in any conventional way, only thing that you could do is rebuild the coil but it might be more of a headache than it would be worth.
Nice job
Bombing around the garden like Mustie1
Haha, didn't think of that but I see what you mean lol
well done,
Thanks Ray
Sounds like the brake winding (positive) was "poling" meaning shorting to earth providing the circuit is earthed at the negative (or vice versa), what else could it be? Look for wear (rubbing) marks around the coil outside and in particular inside, even test with a megger if you know someone who has one.
To those suggesting a petrol engine I don't think you're allowed in a supermarket or pub with one of those running.
left the indicator on....lol fixed now, not a cheap part was it.
Good job , expensive part thou init , wonder why it fails has it got a magnet inside ?
The could of wire creates an electro magnet when it energises Paul but it migh have just got tired.
£90?! Wow.. I did think about refurbishing these at one point.. didn't look too much into it mind you..
Keep it up 👍
Having the same problem on my grandfathers mobility scooter, did you do anything to reset the beeping noice, or did it just stop when you replaced the brake?.
Btw very helpfull videos
The bleeping turned out to be the indicator lol
Kwoor that was an expensive part, (most stuff for 'medical equipment ' is) almost spent less overvolting one of mine to 60v , not so practicle and runs a bit hot.
Yes it was dear, as you said, medical stuff normally is.
Do you think about rewinfing the coil by any chance mate?
No, too much of a faff
You have a nice big house. What have you done in life as a job to get a house that big ? my house is 2 bed back garden with front drive way for 96k 2018. God knows how much your house is worth but you must of had some great income to buy it 😃
Just made a few right choices throughout life bud.
Sometimes, when a thermal device trips multiple times it could become weak and not handle the current. Obviously, that device appears to be fine.
I don't like anything and almost never write a positive comment .but, son of a bitch,i enjoyed ur video and learned I have the same mechanical issue. well done and thank you from CALIFORNIA
You should get yourself a mobility scooter then fabricate a mower to go on back of it
It's a possibility Aaron. I have many spare motors.
Hybrid Ride on mower prehaps , that can charge itself.
AWESOME
Cheers Robin
My Golden Tech scooter has a beeping guide underneath the mat.
How about fitting one of those Honda Engines you've got, To a mobility scooter?
I did think about it.
Cracking
keep your eyes open for broken ones since your now qualified to repair them, lol
Haha I wouldn't say that Rog
More money in these than lawnmowers!
modify that shoprider to go faster that would get shopping trips done in an instant
Haha its not mine though
Oh no why u go and cut down your tree it was so beautiful :(
.
.
expensive them parts dam it
Yes, I agree, too much for what it is.
anything for disabled is way over priced...
Mankind is not very ..kind
😃
Just had a thought who won how many mowers in the green house
I pinned the winner to the top comment of that video Phil, 22 mowers
I’m first 😊
Yes you are lol
You need to buy one and paint it yellow. Trotter Scooters. I smell money.
I'll have a fleet of Trotter vehicles soon Bri lol
Absolutely brilliant! Thanks for the video mate
