Cool idea. The only issue will be if you have two kayaks wider than 30", but you can overcome that with a longer pipe. I would also add a pool noodles at the point where the kayak makes contact with the pipe.

Great point. I actually faced that very problem near the end of summer when I bought a Jackson with a wider beam. So it was back to the home improvement store to get a longer section of pipe.
      Take care!

I’m a single mom who just bought two kayaks for us and had no idea where to begin putting them onto my SUV other than I needed a rack. I don’t like asking for help so being able to find this video really helps me stay independent…. Thank you!!

We went yesterday! My son helped me throw them up there and off we went! I didn’t need any help and I was able to get ratchet straps for $22 at the auto store just 3 blocks from me. Kids played on the kayaks for almost 4 hours. Much better than just swimming and playing on the beach. Thank you a million times..

Great video. Can you share what the spacing from front to back is on your crossbars, and also if you used any tie down on the ends of the kayaks?

Good questions... I'm not sure what the spacing is between the crossbars, front to back, I'll have to measure it. But I do know I moved them out about as far as they would go.
I do use bow and stern tie downs occasionally, especially if I'm going to travel for longer distances and if I'm going to be on high speed highways.
