Man this was most EPIC series that I ever viewed . Imagine the visuals and effects of this Cartoon at that time , in that period .... It paved the way for modern age cartoons . AWESOME.Bring ghostbusters back MAN...
This was the version I watched as a kid XD EVERY SINGLE TIME I'd watch the intro, that monster at 0:29 would SCARE ME so bad... And it still does! Actually... the whole show scared me as a kid... But that's why I loved it!
I was born in 87 grew up on the original and I loved this cartoon, it had its moments of meh but it was a strong series and at least a direct continuation
when the original cast of the real ghostbusters appeared on extreme, i freakin watched it. I did love the new version of the song. But i grew up with the movies and the original cartoon series, and that is still in my heart. which is why i bought the first dvd set at wal-mart xD!!
I remember to watch these ghostbusters when I was a kid and it was really creepy for me to watch them,I never saw those original ghostbusters (Just in RUclips) so extreme ghostbuster looks great to me,brings back good memories.
I love this show. It wasn't patronising like a lot of other kids shows, it had serious stories and some seriously dark stories too. The fact that one of the heroes is in a wheelchair [and still a kick-ass adrenaline junkie] is rare and bold for a show like this.
It would be absolutely great having another movie with this premise, and another videogame with this plot, designed to work like borderlands: Four characters with their own abilities, working together in a huge map they can freely roam, while making both plot and secondary missions.
@Lukyo1984 Extreme is set about 5-10 years after Real Ghostbusters; the team's disbanded and Egon's the only one left, living in the old firehouse to maintain the containment doohikie. When a bunch new ghosts get released, a bunch of his college students become the next team of Busters. The original three actually show up in the last episode, "Back in the Saddle"
This was the Ghostbusters I grew up with. I remember when I first heard the original theme song: I was like WTF is this happy crap?! I liked the grungy, darker vibe of this cartoon.
Not a lot of people liked this series but I grew up watchign his series, and it was my favorite when I was growing up. Not a lot of people would agree, but the ghosts on this show were god damn TERRIFYING for me and a few other people I know. The gross out factor was good.
Battlestar Galactica (1978) was another franchise that didn't really have a lot going for it for many years (despite its brief popularity). Galactica 1980 was definitely NOT the ticket. There was a revival effort, and then Ronald D. Moore reimagined the show into something that lasted four seasons, and it was quite popular. Much darker than the original. I'm glad to see Ghostbusters is getting the rejuvenation treatment again, even if in a video game. :)
@bjay1502 I agree with you because the Extreme Ghostbusters was made to a updated version for the kids of our time. I watched this show as a kid also. Now i am 24 year's and still say that version is better. And they even made the intro a rap song as well.
I was always a fan of Real Ghostbusters, and never even heard of this until a few weeks ago. I guess I prefer RGB to this, but this seems like RGB's Batman Beyond, which means it progressed the storyline while keeping the main guy (Egon and Bruce Wayne). That's actually a good thing, and I watched a few episodes of this. It's not bad by any means, but I'll always be an RGB fan first. Go Peter!
I remember watching this show first and then watching the original Ghostbusters movies and thinking they created the movies after the this television show. Obviously I was wrong. =P
It was perfect. They were the best ones to succeed the 80's ghostbusters! A goth chick was the leader! A Goth Chick!!! And Thomas Perkins' designs were great. They shown better how ghosts are an scientifically explainable inter-dimensional phenomenon, not just spooky apparitions. So, technically speaking, some ghosts were actually aliens, just from another dimension, like Gozer, instead from another planet.
I remembered seeing one episode of Extreme Ghostbusters, and yeah, it's definitely a lot darker than the other GB cartoons or even the movies. I think it dealt with demonic possession, and what little I saw was pretty graphic for Saturday morning fare.
there was an episode where the old ones joined the newbies,...the oldies where kinda overwhelmed by the noobs: Noobs: "ok, fire on three" Classics: "...one..." Noobs: "THREE!" *Whooosh*
Hey, there was a show i used to watch all the time that was on as well as this. It was like alien something squad . I just remember some crazy rain that dehydrated people because there were tiny microbes from some alien in it. But on another note, from Ghost busters, the ghost that stole peoples eyes scared the fuck out of me as a kid.
I didn't have any real strong feelings about this show either way when it was on, but looking back on it now, especially with the new game out, just demonstrates to me the survivability of the Ghostbusters franchise. Show me one other IP whose content has been so little, in absolute terms, let alone stretched over the - ye gods - 25 years since its initial debut, and still, people recognize the no-ghost logo, or if they're asked "Who ya gonna call," would know to respond with "Ghostbusters!"
I loooooved this series. In my eyes, it does live up to the old one. It's scarier, funnier and cooler. I mean Slimer is still the same, only a bit cuter. I hope they use the new characters for the 3rd movie in 2012. I can't bare seeing the old squad going through all that ghost trouble alone in their current state. Atleast let them be mentors to the extreme team
@Sangrenegra9 Janine is a SECRETARY. Only in Extreme Ghostbusters did she actually put on a proton pack and start kicking ass. Therefore they've technically added not one but TWO action girls.
I liked the show, they tried to update the gear and look more modern instead of the 80s style. And I always enjoy spin off shows because cartoons based on movies either distant themselves from the movie story line or just becomes non canon one the movie sequel is made.
The reason it did not last as long as the Real ghostbusters was probably because Ghostbusters was not as popular anymore as it was when the Real Ghostbusters came out. The movies where really popular when the old show came out so more people got interested in watching a ghostbusters show. From what i have seen most people seems to think this was a awesome and well made show and a great squel to RG. And the only one of the old characters i really liked and cared about in RG was Egon.
They actually brought the rest of the originals back for the series finale. And I kind of liked this show. It wasn't the original, of course, but it was still good regardless.
I really don't know why people hate the "Extreme" version... I really don't. I was born in 1990 and this is the one of the most memorable cartoon I have since I was born. Now that I grown up, I watch back the "Real Ghostbuster" compare to the "Extreme" one... No doubt the Extreme is way much better than the Real. I mean based on the plot, the ghost in the new one, this add a damn lot of horror into cartoon. BTW, Kylie, the goth chick, is hot...
@darkxaur The characters make sense, what kind of kids would take a class about ghost busting, a thrill seeker, an occultist, a slacker(easy pass class), and someone interested in technology. Honestly the characters might seem PC and it probably was a concious effort at diversity but when I was younger I didn't even notice because it reflected what I saw at my school and in general. Plus the show was good anyway.
I liked both of the cartoons, but to me the original one had more of a comedic tone to it, while this one I remember there being episodes that were really creepy!!!
Extreme Ghostbusters was actually pretty decent. One would only really hate it if they are a diehard fan of the original, seeing as how there are few appearances by the original cast.
I live in the South East Asia and back in the 1997 , I was 7, before I have internet, I have cartoon net work... Back then, I have no concept of these "minority groups" so I based my opinions on the story line and character development and I gave it a 10/10 ratings... I despise the haters who hate this show because of the "politically correct" deal. Its like they are being racist to the characters and ignored the cool stories and new concepts..
@remieres Egon stayed to supervise the containment unit throughout the decade. He was the one that recruited the XGB during the new outbreak. Frankly the story was the perfect evolution from the original premise. The new gear were necessary upgrades as the new ghosts were immune to the old proton packs. I could of lived without the "extreeeeeme" but they were sadly catering to kids programming. Also, Egon and the original team helps out the overwhelmed XGB in the finale.
Man i miss watchin' this. I liked both the original and this one, but I liked extreme a little more. Too bad it came out ahead of its time. Guess some people didn't like it cause it was a little darker than the original and that is what I liked about it, but I digress.
I think this show is much better than the Real Ghostbusters show. Mostly because i think the new ghostbusters are much more lovable characters and got much better personalities. The only one of the old ghostbusters i really liked was Egon. I also think the episodes of this show often feels much more exciting and got better storys.
Have you seen the show? In my opinion this show is much better than the old Ghostbusters show and the characters are much better and got much better personalitys. The episodes are also much more exciting and got better storys than the old show. If you have not seen the show try it its a great show. You can see lots of episodes here on youtube.
@VagrantNoName It was played on the same block one after the other because I remember and it was back when Toon Disney was good playing the old shows, that's why you thought of that one. :D
Man this was most EPIC series that I ever viewed . Imagine the visuals and effects of this Cartoon at that time , in that period .... It paved the way for modern age cartoons . AWESOME.Bring ghostbusters back MAN...
I remember watching this everyday when i was a kid...How nostalgic!
I think every 90's kid should remember this
This was the version I watched as a kid XD
EVERY SINGLE TIME I'd watch the intro, that monster at 0:29 would SCARE ME so bad... And it still does!
Actually... the whole show scared me as a kid... But that's why I loved it!
i enjoyed this one, just as much as the original one. It had a darker tone to it. It was still awesome
Finally! THIS was the Ghostbusters I loved so much as a kid! Every time I looked I kept finding the other one!
I was born in 87 grew up on the original and I loved this cartoon, it had its moments of meh but it was a strong series and at least a direct continuation
I loved watching this when i was younger.

I loved this show. It was a good spinoff of the original animated series.

The fact that one of the heroes is in a wheelchair [and still a kick-ass adrenaline junkie] is rare and bold for a show like this.
I think a full version of this song would be great for rockband.
4puercosteam, I love The Real Ghostbusters and the Extreme Ghostbusters. Thanks for posting the video!!!
It would be absolutely great having another movie with this premise, and another videogame with this plot, designed to work like borderlands:
Four characters with their own abilities, working together in a huge map they can freely roam, while making both plot and secondary missions.
"You know bustin' makes me feel good!"
The things that went over our heads in the 90s! HAHAHAA!

Not a lot of people would agree, but the ghosts on this show were god damn TERRIFYING for me and a few other people I know. The gross out factor was good.
I loved the episode where the original ghostbusters came back for a 2 part-er. They were all old and out of shape but could still kick ars.
this was a good continuation of the ghostbusters storyline from the original cartoon.
Ah, this brings back memories.
I agree this was one of the things i watched when i was young bc i loved Gb and every thing else i hope they put it on dvd
"Please Comment"
I absolutely loved this. I prefer this one than Real GB, cuz this was way darker and creepier. Especially the ending. Sent chills as a kid.
@bjay1502

lmao i totally remember this show. This intro in particular used to scare the shit out of me
I remember watching this show first and then watching the original Ghostbusters movies and thinking they created the movies after the this television show. Obviously I was wrong. =P
Man, this makes me miss my Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
THis intro is soo cool!
this scared me as a kid.. especially the ending with different monsters...
i think this is better than the oldies
I remember watching this as I got ready for school at around 6 am and it still being dark out it was so fuking cool
this is the one i used to watch, cause when i was a kid the original one got cut off.

I love how they have some of the villains from real ghostbusters in the intro but theyre not in the cartoon series
Woah really brings back memories.
Hope they would just finish up this series,
i think that it was just cut-off halfway
I remembered seeing one episode of Extreme Ghostbusters, and yeah, it's definitely a lot darker than the other GB cartoons or even the movies. I think it dealt with demonic possession, and what little I saw was pretty graphic for Saturday morning fare.
This show was awesome.
XD
YOU KNOW BUSTIN MAKES ME FEEL GOOD
waaah sa mfesait trop peur ken j'etait petite sa !!! xD j'adore
I remember having the toy of the guy with a goatee from this cartoon
Yea your right it had good animation and I kinda like the story too. It was more darker than the original I like that.
there was an episode where the old ones joined the newbies,...the oldies where kinda overwhelmed by the noobs:
Noobs: "ok, fire on three"
Classics: "...one..."
Noobs: "THREE!" *Whooosh*

The ghosts kinda remember me to the aliens in the animated version of Men in Black.
I always thought having a crippo in an "extreme" version of anything was a bit of an oxymoron
I thought that this was genuinely terrifying, as a kid.
90's generation made everything badass
I didn't have any real strong feelings about this show either way when it was on, but looking back on it now, especially with the new game out, just demonstrates to me the survivability of the Ghostbusters franchise. I liked this version of the Ghostbusters cartoon, I still think they should have kept the original theme music for the intro
It was very good
I grew up with Real, but this was ok. Especially for its time, it kinda added a scary-feel to it, which was welcomed.
Best episode ever.
That's the one where they had to build a gigantic cannon to nail a giant ghost right?
2nd BEST Cartoon ever! 1st BEST, Beast Wars!!! : )
the style of this cartoon reminded me alot of the men in black cartoon... either that or the other way around...
The music rocks!
from 0:45 to the end has a truly bad-ass beat.
Ghostbusters with an edgy 90s attitude and wheelchair accessible victorian-era attics
what I like about the show is that Carlton is the voice of Roland
ive jus bought ghostbusters volume 1 on dvd i hope they release this too
Love this show
I remember watching this on TV..............
OMG, I remember this a looong time ago..and I had a little crush on Eduardo... :D
Hey show some respect. He kicked butt. Gave me a new respect for the disabled
@Sangrenegra9

i miss this
In finland they call this on tv: Really cool ghost busters :/
"the real ghostbusters" is the original cartoon version of ghostbusters, mate.
@daiklaive Plus, in the Sandman episode, she (in dream form) donned a ghostbuster uniform to help Winston beat the sandman.
The reason it did not last as long as the Real ghostbusters was probably because Ghostbusters was not as popular anymore as it was when the Real Ghostbusters came out.
The movies where really popular when the old show came out so more people got interested in watching a ghostbusters show.

thank you princessrocks....u rock!
Extreme Ghostbusters was actually pretty decent. One would only really hate it if they are a diehard fan of the original, seeing as how there are few appearances by the original cast.
agreed. at least somebody's got sense.
Did this show ever get shown on Saturdays, I remember Sunday morning when it was on. I always watched it before I went to church.
good old times.when i was 6 years old i loved this series.but here in greece they canceled it.i don't know why
The Episodes 'Deadliners and Killjoy' were kinda scary
The way it's drawn looks like men and black animated series
@remieres Egon stayed to supervise the containment unit throughout the decade. He was the one that recruited the XGB during the new outbreak. this version of Ghostbusters was pretty scary... at least to an eleven year old me.
IF YOUR SEEING THINGS, RUNNING THOUGH YOUR HEAD WHO YOU GONNA CALL?
...I should re-watch the movies. It's been so long...
Fuck... clowns... goddamit, I started checking my room for clowns before going to be after watching that episode.
I suddenly realized...
What if it's a more advanced trap? That's SAFE to look at?
Have you seen the show?
In my opinion this show is much better than the old Ghostbusters show and the characters are much better and got much better personalitys.
The episodes are also much more exciting and got better storys than the old show.
If you have not seen the show try it its a great show.
You can see lots of episodes here on youtube.
Extremely disturbing Ghostbusters.
hell yeah! thanks dude
