  • As a key architect of the CIA’s enhanced interrogation program, James Mitchell spent thousands of hours questioning terrorists, including 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM). He came to understand the terrorist mind better than anyone in America.
    Now, for the first time, Dr. Mitchell will share what KSM told him - including his opinions of US counterterrorism policy, the Bush administration’s response to 9/11, his plans for future attacks, and why he is certain they will ultimately prevail in their war against America.
    Join Dr. Mitchell and AEI’s Marc Thiessen for a discussion of Dr. Mitchell’s new book, “Enhanced Interrogation: Inside the Minds of the Islamic Terrorists Trying to Destroy America” (Crown Forum, 2016), as he offers a first-person account of the enhanced interrogation program and his personal interactions with the men behind the deadliest terrorist attack in history.

    Sam Harris was right all along, and the only way guys like Greenwald will reply to this is with character attacks on Mitchell.

      This man has no idea what he's talking about. He had zero knowledge on the middle east, Al Qaeda, jihadism,, etc... Even on the subject of interrogations he was a complete novice.

    If you read any book on Kashmir insurgency (Like the one by Adrian Levy called "The Meadow," based on Al Faran kidnapping, in which Jim Mitchell's friend was beheaded), the Indian army employs far more brutal techniques...KSM & his lot were lucky..infact any other military will be worse than Americans.Jim Mitchell's book says how Gul Rahman died in the hands of the local non American guards in a rendition site

    Most plots of KSM and indeed many brutal torture techniques are regularly screened on Bollywood (Indian movies). Like all Pakistanis, KSM must watched thousands of them.

    It's just such a slippery slope to allow practices like EITs have a legal foothold. Governments will inevitably want to take actions that sacrifice certain legalities or moral barriers in order to further their agenda. They are often then forced to hide these from the public, but if we give them a manner in which they can have their cake and eat it too, it becomes extremely worrying. Mitchell mentions that you never want to have people who enjoy torturing perform it, but it's inevitable that they will. They are the people who will reach for and maintain those positions. You just have to draw a line somewhere.

    I for one, wouldnt want the mastermind of 9/11 to feel any level of discomfort beyond a massage at the 4 seasons even if it guaranteed our safety...

  • @TentaclePentacle
    @TentaclePentacle 7 лет назад +3

    Stop calling it EIT, the only reason why you need to use a euphemism is because you know its wrong.
    Call it torture, don't hide behind euphemisms. There could be a case to be made that torture is acceptable under certain circumstances, but call it torture. To use euphemisms is to normalize it.

      If islam only killed using beheadings then yes.
      I would say the truck of peace is an euphemism for islamic peace.

      Enhanced Interrogation Techniques literally involve torture. There is no way to spin waterboarding that isn't the textbook definition of torture.
