- A brand new ride/experience has opened in Reykjavik, called FlyOver Iceland. It's an indoor interactive ride that takes you over some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the country and feels exactly like you're hovering over Iceland! I was lucky enough to attend the pre-launch event, and it was AMAZING! So today I'm talking about my experience and showing you why you should consider adding this to your Reykjavik itinerary.

I actually found this place by accident when I was having the rental car washed after 10 days of doing the Ring Road in April. Behind me, as it were, was this big building and the billboards advertising the show looked interesting, so I tried online booking and there was a place available for the show starting within 20 mins of the end of the car wash, so I went. And it was great!! The whole experience - from queuing on our yellow dots, to meeting our "host", to settling in our seats and then, the video images!! We were flying!! I grabbed the armrests multiple times as we swooped and swerved over the most astounding scenery!! I loved it!! Even having done it once, I certainly will return on my next visit.
That's an awesome story! I'm sure it was so cool to see all those beautiful sights (and more) from above after having seen them in person on the Ring Road. Thanks for sharing!
Just read this comment and has made me hopefull. Trying to book for April 2024 but only giving dates until December this year so wasn't sure if it was closed for some parts of the year and maybe its just too far in advance to book ? X
I have seen the FlyOver America, Hawaii and Canada versions and loved the stunningly beautiful photography. I can’t wait to see FlyOver Iceland on our trip next year.

Wow, that is a super cool thing to go do! I thought the Perlan Museum was super cool with the ice cave inside it and all the other neat things to see. Okay, let alone the west fjords...... yes must come back!

I was there two weeks ago. I made a video of the flight and upon exit they forced me to delete it due to copyright
It's the exact same ride technology as Soarin' from Disney's California Adventure Park, EPCOT, and Tokyo Disney Sea.
Jeannie, just a thought: you mentioned that you haven't had a chance yet to see 'all the places'. Why don't you incorporate some of your viewers' snippits of some of the places that you've yet to enjoy? I know that I have crawled over many of the 'off the beaten path' places during my trips to Iceland. Maybe we can add to your list of must sees! Xoxo from Canada
Is this open all year ? Been looking to book for our trip April 2024. But it only allows dates up until December 2023 and the rest is crossed out. Is this a seasonal thing or Is it just too far in advance to book and (hopefully) be able to book closer to the time ? I've messaged on there Facebook and Instagram page as I can't see an email address and so far had no reply. TIA x

Was just in Iceland at the end of July , so sorry this wasn’t open yet. Have you ever covered the Westman islands? We took the ferry over for a day and absolutely loved it but I never hear anyone talk about it. Love your channel as I was so well prepared for my trip. Thanks!

They haven't offered you any discount coupons? You'd think opening end of season they'd drop the price to get people through the door. @ ISK4000 each adult, it might be a bit much for us. We'll be in Iceland the next 2 weeks.

I went on my recent trip. I think you should warn people it's a virtual roller coaster type ride. You rush past the scenery so fast I couldn't take it in. The emphasis seemed to be on giving people a thrill and I personally don't like that. I was sad because I so wanted to see the footage they'd shot.

No it's not allowed. I think they give permission for advertising purposes to a few.

Do you have to book it in advance?
Hi Maria! Thanks for watching and great question! No, you do not have to book Flyover Iceland in advance. Shows run every 15 to 20 minutes but each ride/experience is for a small group so you may have to wait depending on how many people are there and who has advance tickets.

Too expensive for a non virtual reality experience imo. I would probably skip this one and just drive to those actual areas to really experience those amazing places.
