- Take a listen while I talk about the brilliance of the Clareen oyster tenor banjo. I also play a jig and a real so you can hear a sound sample.
If you have the time and are interested: a short review, and couple of tunes on my brand new @clareenbanjos Oyster! An incredible instrument made by amazing craftsman in Galway, Ireland! Very pleased! Exceedingly my expectations greatly! - #clareenbanjos #clareenoyster #clareen #irishtenorbanjo #unboxing #irishbanjo #banjo #irishtraditionalmusic #irishtrad #traditionalirishmusic #instrumentsofinstagram #musiciansofinstagram #banjo #exeedingexpectations #incrediblecraftmanship #craftsmanship

Thanks for the wonderful instrument!
It sounds richer than some tenors. Also, the inlay looks cool.

Hi Tim!
You're playing is very good, so there's no need to apologise 😆. The Clareen Oyster is a good banjo. I have one myself. I prefer the nickel strings. My advice would be to try the Puretone banjo strings in a slightly thicker gauge. I find it unfortunate that Clareen have increased their prices on banjos so much. I guess when Dave Boyle (RIP) was still making banjos it kept prices more competitive. I also find Tom is a gentleman who is interested in the customer, their banjo and their needs while Fintan, nice guy and all but is more interested in the business side of things.
I have one of the original Oysters. Wish I could do it justice.
You got this!
