Awesome! That works really well! The xylene transfer I mentioned earlier worked well transferring an image onto canvas. This is less dangerous - just make sure the power cord doesn't pull the round iron off the table while you're sitting there. Thanks!
Great technique Cy! I don't have an inkjet printer anymore (ink kept drying out), just a laser. Thank you. I was never able to successfully transfer printed stuff to wood. I'll try this for sure.
I've got the same woodburner and agree about the dial, terrible location! I've seen some people cut it out and move it further down and then solder it back in place. I'm planning to try and move mine eventually so hopefully that will make it more user friendly :)
houtjeboom I tried the iron once after I broke my first wood burner and I couldn't get it to work very well. But I think I could make it work now that I can do it better. Thanks for watching!
Saw Dust Maker Cool :) A lot of folks have given me tips through the comments, you may want to check them out, the main one being that in word and in paint you can flip horizontallly! Good luck to you ;)
Yay! I am glad you found the video!!! And Yes! I made the map for a 2x4 challenge in 2015. It is called Sticker Map Summers Woodworking 2x4 Challenge. :)
Doug Broadhurst Thank you, I did know about this technique with empty label paper, which would be similar to wax paper, but I have not tried it yet. Would be good for something colorful!
@@CysCorner I use the label method with my laser printer. But my laser is limited in size. But I have been looking for a good way to transfer bigger prints with my canon pro1000 but it's pigment based and I'd have to probably use your way til I get brave enough to try a big piece with larger size label backings.
I heard you can transfer regular ink from an inkjet if you use gloss paper like picture paper or a sheet of labels ( you just have to take all the labels off and it should have a glossy side to it), but I have not tried it yet!!
Tommy G Workshop Yes I have seen a video on that. It looks like you are taking the wet ink and moving it from the printer to your project via the backing paper. I have never tried it, but it sounds slippery. :)
Tommy G Workshop I have watched Steve Ramsey's video before! I hadn't seen the other though. And yes, image transfer since there is no heat. Good to know there are different techniques so if one doesn't go so well you can try more! Thanks for the links ;)
Very informative video. I had been wondering how you did the logo on your projects. Now I know that it's not me, it the ink printer. Guess I need to find a toner type printer.
Ricky Walden Yes Ricky! I had to check it out myself! Lots of folks have left comments about using acetone to transfer laser prints or using wax type paper for transferring colored ink jet prints. :)
Ricky Walden Hey Ricky! Here is a link to a video using acetone that someone left me, maybe try this before you buy a new printer! ruclips.net/video/XivB9ATg_Nw/видео.html
Hi cy! Maybe try more heat wth the bigger circular bit??maybe it wasnt hot enough to transfer ..? never tried that b4 i always engrave my name wth dremel. Good stuff cy have a good one!
Joe Walters The bigger circle seems to have a sort of donut shape. The center doesn't come in contact and I have found the rubbing to be a key in a successful transfer. If it was shaped more like a contact lens, ya know, convex, then it would be great! Someone suggested grinding it to she shape I want and I think I will do that! Oh and too much heat burns the wood. I do that a lot, it is nice I can sand it out! Thanks for watching Joe!
Thanks fo the tips. I love your energy. You could use Inkscape, a free program, to create your text, flip it, and print it all in one place. You can save it if you want but there is no need in this example. It’s also a good program for designing Intarsia patterns (or any art work) with lots of RUclips video tips and tricks.
Thank you, I've used inkscape some, it has a very large learning curve. Ugh!!! I have started using other programs that allow me to flip and create in one place! Thanks!
you can use a regular clothes iron on high also. it has to be toner as toner is plastic and you are melting it onto the wood. you can only do ink with modge podge.
Michael Flynn Your welcome. If you are going to try this you may want to check out some of the comments, people are giving me tips on how to do some of the stuff easier!
Hi Cy, Vicky here, I can help you with your problem. Just cut the cord about an inch on each end of the switch and cut the cord about two inches from the wall plug and then attach the switch to that end and solder the wires back together again. And wrap it with electrical tape easy peasy Japan easy. Call me if you want or need more instructions. I know your hubby can help you with this. Talk to you soon. bye.
Francisco Cordeiro Thanks for the link! I tried this on my computer and it wont flip horizontally. The tab and drop down buttons are there but when I click it is doesnt flip. It will flip vertically, I am thinking that is why I go through paint. I will keep checking it to see if it will work in word. Sure would be nice if it would! Thank you :-)
Steve Ramsey Showed a method to do transfers using a ink jet printer here's the link ruclips.net/video/Zq2O66QGCwg/видео.html looks so much easier and faster. No heat needed.

+Steve Garrison I have burned my table before, haven't burned any digits yet!!!
Thank you for sharing your finds. It is very well appreciated
You're welcome and thanks for the comment!

AdventuresInDIY Cool. It can be frustrating at first, but you can always sand it off and try again! Good luck!
Great Info Cy, Thanks for sharing
***** Thanks for watching Sterling!
Thanks for the info! I really appreciate your RUclips shows!
Thank you @Colorado 1000m!!!
I've got the same woodburner and agree about the dial, terrible location! I've seen some people cut it out and move it further down and then solder it back in place. I'm planning to try and move mine eventually so hopefully that will make it more user friendly :)
Someone suggested that and I want to move it, just haven't yet!!! Maybe we oughtta let the company know!
Nice job! Good method of teaching.
Thank you!
Great video, Cy. Wonderful information, thanks for sharing.
Slowvannah Farms Thanks Sarah, wasn't too boring eh?
Oh no, give yourself more credit. Your funny personality still showed through :-)
Great video Cy I had the same problem with the round bit.. And now I use the iron. Ever tried that? That works great too
Thanks for charing

Thanks for sharing. I will be looking into this process for myself.

Very detailed info Cy! Thanks for the sharing!
GP Woodworks You're welcome :)
Cy! I found the video! Great info...by the way, do you have a video for the world map back there? From here it looks awesome!
Yay! I am glad you found the video!!! And Yes! I made the map for a 2x4 challenge in 2015. It is called Sticker Map Summers Woodworking 2x4 Challenge. :)
Very good looks like you have it dialed in!
Summers Woodworking Dialed and held by duct tape!!!
lol
Boa noite amiga Cy's Corner gostei muito do seu trabalho Super like e um forte abraço.
Muito obrigado. Voce teve um bom fim de semana!!!!
Cy, I found if you print from an ink type printer onto a wax type paper, you can transfer the image as long as the ink is still wet.
Doug Broadhurst Thank you, I did know about this technique with empty label paper, which would be similar to wax paper, but I have not tried it yet. Would be good for something colorful!
I'll try your tip. I have the exact one. Tried the coin shaped and it work ok but I've done better with liquitex and shipping lables.
It takes practice that is for sure but once you get it down it works well. :)

hello, I wonder what kind of paper you use for printing and transfer heat to wood ??

I can't believe it's that easy! I've NEVER done this before. What trickery is this???
Heavyboxes Hee heeeeee!
very interesting, you use paint to flip the text as well, do the whole thing in one program (click on rotate, flip options there)
Liquid Len *can use paint
Liquid Len I looked on paint and sure enough!!! I can flip it there! Thank you for pointing that out to me!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!
am from Brazil and I do not know how to speak English using the translator is common paper that you use for transferring heat to wood ??
It is plain white copy paper. Hope that translates for you.
Thank you and for answering I will try to do, your art is very beautiful
Thank you, if you have any more questions you can email me. undeniablycy@gmail.com :)
Thank you, thank you!
It takes some practice but you'll get it!
thank you very much, I needed to put some letters in a wooden bowl and did not know how.
I will use your technique. thanks again.
Fernando Santos López Awesome!

Excellent!
thanks
Also just a suggestion. You may try actual heat transfer paper over regular paper. :-)
Elizabeth A Mizdail I didn't know there was heat transfer paper too. Man, I have no idea what is out there!!!!!! Thanks again!
Very helpful THANKS

OK USING LASER OR INK CARTRIDGE
+Edvaldo Jose Toner cartridge only. It doesn't work with ink. Glad you found the video.

It is a pattern by Judy Gale Roberts that I purchased, here is the link :)intarsia.com/shop/patterns/zebra/
ok amiga muito obrigado
Informitive. the only bad part is I hsve no laser printer, lol
As long as it has a toner cartridge it should work, but bummer. :-)
Thanks

Vicky Porter Vicky!!!! What a great idea! Thank you so much!!!!!!
Any time, you have helped me more that you know. Thanks.
Vicky Wood an horses would be quicker and easier to cut plug off and burner off and just swop them around...job done
Use this example video to reverse the letters more easily: ruclips.net/video/eGhSiREPy8w/видео.html

Should've typed Coolaa
A heat press would do a quicker job.
Elizabeth A Mizdail Heat press? Not sure what that is :)
