Josef Chen’s style is beautiful and inspiring. That said, the decision is probably right because of the 1.5 successful takedowns by Tye. The rest of the match was probably a draw. Chen had incredible guard retention and beautiful entries, and inverted very well out of the estima lock. Ruotolo had incredible pressure and balance and managed to spin out and almost invert Chen’s attempts to enter the legs. Both men attacked and defended beautifully from their respective positions. A great technical bjj match won ironically by a blast double takedown.

Yeah. I can play bottom position all day with brown and purple belts, but doesn't mean I'm as good as them. The fact is, I'm on bottom because I am preserving energy. That's not in my favor.
This is where I see the limit in pure grappling. With striking, the position that Tye was in, he be at huge advantage to hit and open up the game. But not in pure grappling.
