Hi Mark. I get a lot of my blades from La Barbiera UK. They have quite a good choice and it's always worth looking at their clearance items on the website. You're right about a poor choice on eBay nowadays. One of my favourites, made by Rise, is very hard to find now. I use the old dice trick to count how many times I've used a blade. I count head shaves as two uses of a blade. I rarely reach number 6 on the dice as, by then, the blade is starting to feel past its best. Good shave video, Mark. Have a great weekend.
Thanks David, I shall have a look. Blades seem to be very expensive since Brexit and Covid. I can buy 500 Willys from Pearl in India for £12.72 - I don't know how much the postage will be but I suspect UK retailers are making a lot from from blades than they used to.
Nice shave Mark! I enjoy using my Slim, great shaver! It's a shame you UK guys can't use ebay for blades anymore. It's usually where I get my bulk blades from. Have a good one! Steve
Hi Steve. It is a shame but some of the guys here have pointed me to three terrific places to buy blades in the UK. All of them sell single packets or packets in bulk, if that's what you want, at a really good price. I'm ever so grateful.
Hi Mark- Great shave; thank you! The Rabid Banana is definitely very nice, with a fantastic lather. I was hesitant because of the banana, but I’m glad I finally picked this up! I hope the contractor gets you sorted out quickly, too. Have a wonderful weekend and sending best regards, as always, my friend!
Thank you, Mike. I too was a bit hesitant about bananas, until I tried Don Jose. I think Pitralon after shave might have a banana scent. Take care, my friend and enjoy your weekend👍
I can't buy blades from eBay anymore, Lee. The government stopped sales due to abuse by inner city teens pretending they are the Peaky Blinders, or some such bollocks. Even if I find a seller in India, via eBay they are not allowed to post to the UK; it used to be where I got all my blades!
One of the 1st de razor's I purchased when I started wet shaving 8+yrs ago, 1963 model, all with thanks to Mark and the Friendship Shaving YT channel way back then, never looked back 😊
Hi Mark, What a beautiful razor. As we’ve talked of before… the Gillette Fat Boy, Slim and Executive adjustable razors are my very favorite razors, and in my opinion, the very best razors ever made. I don’t have a Birth Date Slim, but do have a 1960 Fat Boy my wife purchased for me on my birthday back in 2019, and it was in mint condition. I purchased a Slim at a flea market two years ago, for $15.00 (US), and it’s in good shape, but I’m thinking on sending it to the guy you got this razor from, to have it restored. He does magnificent work. As always, it was such a pleasure viewing your video. Blessings, and all my best wishes to you, my friend.
A Fatboy, purchased by your good wife, for your birthday is probably better than a birthdate version. Bought and given with love. You lucky fella. If lived in the US I would be scouring flea markets for great finds. How amazing to get a Slim for $15. You really are a lucky fella! 😁 Take care, my friend.
A fantastic shave all round, Mark. Finished off with Skinbracer is the icing on the cake. Please give my regards to your mum, and you both have a great weekend.
Shaving time and Connaught in the uk are pretty good for buying bulk Mark. Maggards also are good and postage is similar to uk prices bizarrely. I have enough for the rest of my life 😬🤣
Thanks Nick. I had just re-discovered Connaught. Do you know. it's ridiculous not being able to buy the razor blades you like! The world's gone mad 😁 I shall check out STime and Maggards. Thank you, mate👍
Beautiful Razor I have a Gillette Slim beautiful razor. I used a lovely blade today in mine called a Laser super platinum. Really suited me the best blade I have tried so far. If you can find any they are lovely smooth very mild I found. Great video thank you as always.
@@FriendshipShaving Hi Mark, Yes I was very surprised I just stumbled upon the pack of razors in a shop in Sheffield. I purchased a pack and thought nothing of them once I did. I tried one in my Slim. I could not believe how nice a shave I received. I went back to get another pack and managed to get the last one. I asked if they could get me a full box of 100. I have found a site in Sweden called RBC - Razor Blades Club. They have a very large selection of blades and great prices. I am going to do a test order from them for the Laser Super Platinum. They look a good company. All the best. Massimiliano
They were still producing the black handled Super Speed and the Super Adjustable (Black Beauty) - I believe it may have been the Super 109, not the 84, and it came with a plastic bottom to the head. Still a very nice razor. It would have been the letter Y.
They are from Bangladesh, Jim. It ended up being thrown after an awful third shave. Other blades from the same company include Sharp, Champion, Clifton and A Best.
From what I understand the blades (and in some cases safety razors too) need to be signed for by someone over 18. This means that the cost of delivery increased greatly. The conversations I've had with retailers is they're pulling back from selling blades and razors as their logistics model is based upon Royal Mail 48 hour delivery and don't want to absorb the cost of paying for signed on delivery.
Also there was a change in the selling conditions on eBay, so that razor blades became a banned item, but not cartridge razors. Amazon seems to have a lot less choice than they used to, as well. I was looking at 500 blades from Pearl in India, which cost £12.50 but the postage is £30. I think this is quite a common issue, worldwide. Postage rates seem to have gone up across the board.
Great prices and free delivery from La Barbiera and great selection from Razor Blades Club
Razor blade club! Flipping brilliant, Jonathan. Thank you very much indeed. I had forgotten about them! Connaught Shaving is good, too. Cheers
Hey there Mark! Amazing shave. Nice looking brush indeed!
Hello, my friend.👍 It has a lot of backbone, so we will see how it breaks in.

I just saw that adjustable razor you got on Aliexpress for the same price you got it for and couldn't resist.
Why not! How can they do it for that price!😃
Ebay used to be fantastically good for blades of lesser known brands, or variants otherwise unavailable, from India, Pakistan, and other places.

Ive got a couple of those razors. 1962 birthday year. Both in the same quarter I was born.

Very nice Richard. I think it is brilliant that the razor is as old as me and, unlike me, isn't worn out 😂
Thanks Fuzz 👍 My goodness, have I been doing this for that long? I still enjoy it😃
Try Razor Emporium for blades. In Arizona.
The blade makes the difference.
Thanks mate. The postage will likely be expensive to the UK, but I will have a look.

Great looking shave Mark💖💖 Have you tried Connaught Shaving for razor blades?👌🤠👌
I have just re-discovered them and found a few blades that I like at good prices. Thanks Lawrie.

Your balde sounds very nice. I'm sure I have tried one sometime. It sounds good: laser sharp with a nice coating for some comfort. Take care👍

The idea of the banana had me turning my nose up, until you mentioned peanut butter. Now I love the idea of it🤣🤣🤣
It is really nice, Lee. I promise!

Talking of birth date razors, Mark. Were Gillette still producing them in 1978?
They were still producing the black handled Super Speed and the Super Adjustable (Black Beauty) - I believe it may have been the Super 109, not the 84, and it came with a plastic bottom to the head. Still a very nice razor. It would have been the letter Y.

They are from Bangladesh, Jim. It ended up being thrown after an awful third shave. Other blades from the same company include Sharp, Champion, Clifton and A Best.
What's the change in the law here in the UK that has made it that you can't get blades as easily now?
From what I understand the blades (and in some cases safety razors too) need to be signed for by someone over 18. This means that the cost of delivery increased greatly. @@MMGP_ASGAARD thanks for the explanation.
