    I waited 18 years to meet Ali. I met him exactly two years before this show in 1989 at a sports show in San Jose Calif. I ran into him on the street. all these people and reporters were around him, and I said " everyone-get out of the way", " I want a picture with the Champ. Ali's bodyguard took a picture of Ali and I alone shaking hands, and he gave me the camera after. Ali was a shell of himself even then, but he listened. I put my hand on his shoulder, and said" It's good to see you Champ", " I love You". he didn't say one word, but smiled. he knew he was loved. Muhammad Ali--you truly will be missed Champ!

    Thomas Hearns first person ever to win titles in 5 different weight classes ended up in 6 different weight classes as a title holder. Very under rated as a all time great as far as I am concerned. He was a warrior & you got your moneys worth when you watched a Hearns fight. Ali of course is the greatest boxer ever.

    • @JAWrightonline
      @JAWrightonline 3 года назад

      @Victor Buford Oh, you stupid idiot. You were watching fights towards the end of his career. Love your short-sighted, Cliff Notes style of
      "studying" of one of sports all-time greats. If Ali was "not impressive at all" then you must be the the furthest below pathetic. Or as Ali would say, "If I had a lower IQ, I could enjoy your conversation."
      Through Ali's first 32 fights, he scored 27 knockouts with several knockdowns. He knocked down and knocked out George Foreman to reclaim the Heavyweight Crown, dumbass! Ali is "very overrated." The words of an absolute boxing idiot.
      Back to where you belong, junior.

    • @JAWrightonline
      @JAWrightonline 3 года назад

      @Victor Buford You probably also watched Joe Montana's 49-3 disaster at the hands of the New York Giants in the '86 playoffs and said Joe Montana "wasn't impressive." What a jackass you are. Watch the worst possible footage of a legend to criticize him. Plain stupid.
      Let's get to the harsh reality of one of Rocky Marciano's deepest, darkest secrets to his success. Marciano fought during a drought of great heavyweight boxers. Jack Johnson, Joe Louis were gone (and when Louis came back to fight Marciano, he was WAY past his prime). Sonny Liston, Ali, George Foreman, and Joe Frazier were a decade or so away. ALL those guys would have kicked Marciano's ass. ROYALLY. Don't come back with, "We don't know that." Yeah, right. And the 1920 Canton Bulldogs would beat the 1985 Chicago Bears.
      Marciano took advantage of a weak era. That's the only way a guy like him could go 49-0. To expect him to compete successfully against even the likes of Oscar Bonavena Bonavena, Earnie Shavers, Ken Norton, or Ron Lyle is ridiculous. No 5-10 190-pound man is going to scare any one of the men I just mentioned, much less beat them. In fact, their handlers would likely desperately hide Marciano's measurements for fear that their fighters would seriously injure themselves--from falling down laughing. 😆 🤣 😂

Hearns fought from 1977 to 2006, 29 years is a long time in the fight world. He never spoke super clearly anyways but it's def a little worse now. Ali still fought even after signs of his Parkinson's was obvious.

    it was a foggy, cold day, in the late afternoon, in San Francisco back in 1964. I was in the school yard, and taking a sip of water out of the fountain, and a kid yelled, " Cassius Clay is fighting Sonny Liston tonight". never heard of Cassius Clay or Liston, but as a kid I knew this must be something Big. I was hearing about a Heavyweight with Lightning speed, and remember his signature white Ever-Last Trunks and white boxing shoes. In 1965 my dad and I listened to the Clay ( Muhammad Ali vs Floyd Patterson fight on our Zenith Console. I remember my dad saying he liked Patterson, and said he was a Gentleman. My interest in boxing took off, and I was hooked and probably watched every fight on T.V. and wide world of sports. I met Ali Three Times, and other fighters. Ali was the man, plain and simple. I lived it and saw the Liston fight, and The " Rumble in the Jungle" in 1974. Ali backed what he said. he Truly " Shook up the World". A inspiration to millions. he will be missed.

    My uncle met him in Pakistan when he was touring muslim countries . Ali signed a portrait painting of himself which my uncle has to this day ! (Priceless but kept in the family ), then my father met him in London in the late 70s . He described Ali as the most “beautiful man “ he had ever seen ! An aura like no one else , then I had the honour of meeting him when he came to my home city of Manchester to inaugurate Ricky Hatton’s gym . When I heard he was coming I had to meet him . I managed to pretend I was press to get close to him . I was interviewed by BBC radio afterwards where I described the impact he had on 3 generations of my family ! I will tell my grandchildren about this . I am blessed to have met this great man! Alhamdulillah!

    Arsenio Hall was a great host. Must have been incredibly hard to deal with Ali like this, nobody else could have done it.

  • @MarkHayes-ue7hs
    @MarkHayes-ue7hs 5 лет назад +1

    There will never ever be another Ali or an Arsenio show.
    Arsenio made other talk show hosts retire at least three others including a legend.
    Ali though as great as he was he said he looked up to Sugar Ray Robinson.
    Classic.

    Dude, the poor guys brain must have been fried by the end. He had such a quick mind, but after time of the body not responding, it must have slowed down. I love Ali, with all my heart and it's sad to loose him.

    I was lucky enough to meet the greatest and the Hitman. I met Ali in Frankfort, Kentucky, in 2000 when the Kentucky General Assembly recognized Ali at a special ceremony. True to form, Ali and his wife, Lonnie, pulled me, a young intern, out from the crowd to meet him and take a picture. I met the Hitman years later in Bowling Green, Kentucky, purely by happenstance. I got a picture with him too. He told me how much he liked Martin Lawrence. Random. Great memories!

    It is a crying shame that this man, this great honorable, magnanimous, charitable, intelligent man had to experience this dreadful disease. Awful!!!! I wish he we were 30 years of age today, bright, vociferous and sharp to address the issues of today, especially with all that Muslim bashing.
