God Bless You Father Casey 🙏🙏🙏 I could feel the roasting from that talk over here in Ireland 😗 , I'm GUILTY of all of it 😗, I was once told in AA I needed to drop my EGO because I was Edging God Out, You have no idea Fr Casey how much I Needed to hear that talk 😊 all I can say is THANK You 😊 and May God Bless You 🙏 😊🇮🇪☘
Pride has a very broad definition. I appreciated Fr. Casey's mention of Saints Mother Teresa and Thomas Aquinas. Two of my favorite saints. Wonderful presentation. I also appreciate Fr. Casey's many referrals to bible history in his homily.
Pride can take different forms, and there's even a "good" type of pride, such as the pride one takes in a job well done or in one's children. However, the sinful type of pride, the origin of all sin and the focus of Fr. Casey's talk, can be formally defined as: "An inordinate esteem of oneself. It is inordinate because it is contrary to the truth. It is essentially an act or disposition of the will desiring to be considered better than a person really is. Pride may be expressed in different ways: by taking personal credit for gifts or possessions, as if they had not been received from God; by glorying in achievements, as if they were not primarily the result of divine goodness and grace; by minimizing one's defects or claiming qualities that are not actually possessed; by holding oneself superior to others or disdaining them because they lack what the proud person has; by magnifying the defects of others or dwelling on them. When pride is carried to the extent that a person is unwilling to acknowledge dependence on God and refuses to submit his or her will to God or lawful authority, it is a grave sin. The gravity arises from the fact that a person shows contempt for God or of those who take his place. Otherwise, pride is said to be imperfect and venially wrong. "While not all sins are pride, it can lead to all sorts of sins, notably presumption, ambition, vainglory, boasting, hypocrisy, strife, and disobedience. Pride strives for perverse excellence. It despises others and, depending on its perversity, even looks down upon God. The remedies for pride are a sincere knowledge of oneself, the acceptance of daily humiliations, avoidance of even the least self-complacency, humble acknowledgment of one's faults, and prayerful communion with God." Your great father, wish we could have you here in England,it's desperate at the moment spirituality , iwould pay your expenses , desperate is not impossible with our lord .??? Little bispham Blackpool. ❤❤❤
Father there is a slip in this talk between the part about Mother Teresa and a couple who married and the husband who abused his wife. A whole part left out. The rest is wonderful.
Yes, sorry about that. As mentioned in the video's description, my then brand new camera was overheating that evening (possibly from Fr. Casey's message? LOL). Fortunately, the camera worked well for all the other sessions. I hope you enjoy them too.
Yes, humility is essential to gain heaven. That much is clear. We all have to be on guard against "false humility," however, because that's really just another form of pride.
Father Bill, now before I criticize, let me state first, I am a devoted Eucharist loving, and real presence believing Catholic. So let’s go, you spoke sooo much about pride and hubris in this talk. Good stuff. But I would ask you, because you seem to be a “patriot”, how is it, as a priest, not an american, you don’t see the pride and hubris of our nation.
So I ask, was the invasion of Iraq just? Has our colonialism, um, the modern colonialism of threats and dollars been just? Is our predatory capitalism just? Yeah I know I sound like a liberal. I’m not, I just don’t owe allegiance to either side. Manifest Destiny, was the first lie we bought. The second is, we are more loved by God. The third, we are any better or less of sinners than anyone else. No, and I fear, that when a chastisement comes, and yeah one is coming, I will turn out to be more difficult for the US than for others.
Being humble is not thinking less OF yourself, but thinking less ABOUT yourself. How well put.
And I would add: thinking MORE about God.
Fr Bill is a great preacher. I wish we had more like him.
I love ❤️ Fr! ✝️🇺🇸
I have always struggled with trying to understand the definition of the virtue of humility until after listening to this.Thank you, Father Casey!
Excellent sermon Father thank you.
I'm glad you liked it. I hope you will be edified by all eight of Fr. Bill Casey's sermons on this channel.

Imho, humility is obeying Gods Commandments and the Magisterium of the Church.

And yet we're celebrating "Pride Month."
I'm not. Pride is the queen of the deadly sins. June is the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus!
