Today on CCF Facebook Hunting we look at the Toyota Cressida, a six cylinder Toyota semi-luxury sedan beloved by both grandmas and the drift community for some reason. Of all the things a 1JZ fits in, you chose a Toyota Cressida? Okay.
#GRANDPAS #FAVORITE #SEDAN
Dude I’d honestly buy that first one just to clean it up and drive it like a normal car, I love older boxy Japanese luxury cars like these just for what they are.
Word, I would daily a Nissan President!
thats what im saying, thats a pretty good price and these things are my dream car.
All these video proves is that if it's your turn to use the brain cell this week, you buy a 350z.
Or a 240sx
to be fair you can still get em off old folks got mine 153k miles blown headgasket for $500 and had $1000 invested (with labor) and its been a great car for me (was my first)
its a nice cruiser for cheap if you know were to look
Nasty as fuck
but a 350z isnt a cressida...
@@Daniel-pc2ov if you have 15k and find a good one
Nothin straight in this car except the engine 🤙🏻😎🤙🏻😎🤙🏻😎
BASED
So true, I'd know....I have one
Love a cressida and I love what people do to them. They're sooooo dope looking.
Fuck, this video triggers my "save her' instinct. Must Resist.
Please don't do this to yourself
@@CollectorCarFeed why am I attracted to the broken ones bro!?
Dirty cars for life
A guy in my area had one of these on FB Marketplace with a 1UZ-FE and manual swap, was asking 15K and sold it for 15K. It was the cleanest Cressida I'd ever seen, it wasnt even built for drift or for stance, just for the idea of a 1UZ Cressida.
1UZs sound sick, would totally do that swap over a 2J considering it puts out more than enough power for fun shenanigans.
I just bought a 1UZ swapped cressida and am looking at doing a manual swap. Can confirm they are a lot of fun and makes all the right noises. I paid 10K AUD for it, which is cheaper than anything else that could be considered fun in my area.
Coming from the 2jz community and SCs/Supras years ago before all these drop in kits a 1j/2j was a very easy swap for a drop in 500+hp. Today is a different story and more would probably want to keep them stock and refresh
i understand that this is comedy and that the posts are some shitboxes, but i think cressidas can be pretty cool. Got one a month or so ago and am restoring it to mostly stock plus some bits and bobs here and there. Fun and easy car to work on and okay power potential. I'd say that the main drawback as far as performance goes is the lack of tuning capability in its stock config. overall I think it's pretty underrated, especially the mx73 generation. As long as it's tasteful modification I really see no problems. (p.s. no i don't advocate for the slammed stance boys who beat the cars to death.)
Finnaly some1 talks abut the CRESSIDA. this car is really popular her in Saudi arabia ppl love it so much, that they impoert from america for the (7ME) engine that came in the supra mk3, cuz the saudi spec came in the (5ME) wich is I6 2.8L, a lot of them been tune up to 500+hp
Speaking as an owner of an 88' NA Supra, these Cressidas must be a ton of fun (if they are cared for and the 7M-GE headgasket issue is corrected). Say what you want about it, but I can't imagine having that engine in a sedan car. These things have to be a complete blast to drive.
cope car
I would consider swapping out for a 4AGE once it blows
@16:00 If Mishimoto controlled the media convincing the younger generation they are a legit brand, ISR must be straight up doing some USSR level Pravda propaganda shlit.
ISR chatbots are destroying online discussion
My dad had an 85 Cressida that was super nice - still love that car. He later sold it to pay my college tuition.
I love my MX83 such an underrated car for the cost.
I feel like these cressidas are really misunderstood, and everyone seeing just a cheap driftcar in them. I personally really like these cars, especially the x30 and the x7 generation. Also a perfect kaido racer base
ive had 2 x80s with 7ms got em both for less than $1000 i 100% agree
Yup cressidas are dope. These and 240sxs are my favorite chassis
I see em as that; but damn they just look good as a daily.
agreed.. just need to spend months finding an acceptable one
I owned 3 of these back before Covid. I got them for 330, 400, and 500 bucks. All of them grandma spec with blown head gaskets. Yes it’s easy to swap in a JZ engine. They were cool because they were sleepers and almost free to get. Spend the rest of your money on a JDM turbo JZ and r154 for about 5k if you’re cheap and 8-10k total for a real nice swap and tune. Of course all before COVID and drift tax.
I loved my old mx73
"hate to sell, but lost to funds for project."
Translation: "Please buy this from me now, this made me broke."
i love how this show completly ruins my targeted ads lolol all of a sudden yt thinks im looking for a fullsized pickup in spanish
got a 91 crusty for $4k with 93K miles at an auction, all original too
i love my maxima because it gets no attention and i get to enjoy s13 suspension and 2j noises.
found out after driving rx7s and s13s, i actually dislike most people. :D
1st gen????
@@pllmop ye
@@feelgoodhorizon4084 fuck yeah man, I had one a year ago, best car I’ve ever had. They sound amazing running that L24E
@@pllmop yup l series engines sound great, at the time gte was cheaper than building the l. still have the le24e on a stand and keep it oiled. the voice box is cool, power everything and everything still works.
I bought my cressida in like 2016 for 1600 running and driving, just getting around to 2j swapping it now cause had a few more kids and bought my first house in that time. Luckily i got in before the drifttax got to a premium and i even got my non vvti 2j and r154 right before covid happened so both of those prices have at least doubled since then
For the swap with stock suspension still I'm gonna be in 12k including the price of the car
The title is true, I 1jz swapped my Cressida before it was cool to have a jzx and it cost me everything. Mind you this was when you could get turbo jz's for $1800 all day and it still cost me my life savings to tune and buy new sensors. This doesn't take into account tires, suspension and chassis mods
Hey I've got an mx73 it was so cheap for a nice rwd daily, pre covid they were 1-3k
86 with 72k on it for 2.5k, honestly an amazing daily driver kept stock
I got my 86 for 1k post covid, 225,000 miles but still
Still about 3k over here in Australia
The Cressida at 9:07, I just bought over here in Washington, I’m trying to track down who actually built the car!
Absolutely love my mx83. 5 speed really wakes em up.
My friend has a 76 Cressida. It's cool because it's not a generic 80s econoshitbox
Listening to y'all rip on drift stance Stans, makes me wake up just a little less nihilistic each day. Thanks for all the cynical laughs Bois. Pretty good car advice too if ya ain't too sensitive, little fellas. Yeehaw
Fun fact the uranium for the Manhattan project was made in Detroit. Unfortunate fact some of the left over Nuclear waste fell into the Detroit River in 2019
Dude you really can't even fit an "insert any ls here" adam lz friend did a ls swap in one and it barely fits
As a Cressida owner, I agree 😢 what people do to these things hurts my heart. Like damn... You see them with ugly stance/ ugly chamber/ bozo zoku/ panel gaps + the poorly fitted bumpers and skirts/ excessive rear spoiler
I wish more were built with conservative-track oriented/drift purpose or tasteful daily driver styles 😪 these things are rare man
first car was a 1987 cressida i wish i never sold it, and for car you can still get for like 3k i say its pretty fun not fast by any means but fun. a good car i would buy another
I traded a 1986 v6 camaro straight across for a 88 cressida wagon
And it blew up less than a month in to owning it.
bought of these planning on engine swapping. headgasket blew a month later. 4 months later its LS swapped with a 6 speed. Great car, shyt motor.
I just bought a cressida for 4k it runs good not perfect no dents no rust Interior is perfect just a cracked dash ofc lol just needs paint and has 200k miles
I bought it just cause it feels like something my grandma would drive and still have fun in
you got ripped off 💀
2k car all day
@@CoffeeEnjoyer69 mf where?!?!? I was watching them for a while and this is the cheapest one I found. I'm from california gotta pay all the tax lol
@@XsForEyes i'm in SoCal too
just don't jump on the first one you see. i recently got a mk3 Supra turbo for $500 💀
@@CoffeeEnjoyer69 wtffff what??? No way running and everything???
@@XsForEyes just put a new fuel pump and it was good to go
Fuckin a, it's funny i got a scam ad before this video, which in hindsight would probably be a better investment than a cressida, anywho great work as always
What were they shilling
Some "system" that made them 8k in the first day lol
I have heard of body condoms but have never seen one until now on that rancid drivers seat. Thanks, CCF 💔
Toyotas in hawaii cost a premium and can be up to 3x what they cost in the mainland.
so im into boxy cars, the boxier the better unless its something that is beautiful. what is your recommendation for a boxy car?
I hate how they got cool after I did it all snd then sold it
Marshawn Lynch used to drift his Cressida
If you were in New Zealand looking at any of those cars throw 10k on top of all their asking prices
Atlas if u would like to point me in the direction of the 4k m3 👀
Finally the cress video
It would be a great car, if any still existed lol
Bro they're right there look how great they are bro
In canada u can’t find any😂
@@CollectorCarFeed You guys have literally no idea about how cheap those examples you've found car. Cressidas started getting drift taxed HARD by the mid 2010s and they're legit getting rare as people have been binning the cheap ones into walls en mass for about a decade now. The USA must have a fuckload of these sitting around for them to still be this cheap.
The one before the white one at 2200 he totally stole a supra, grabbed the drivetrain, crushed the rest can’t figure out how to put it all together or too broke to now trying to sell it.
i still want to buy a fleet of 80s toyota crown's and use them as taxi's
I run a KoyoRad on my car :D
Good man
When are you guys gonna do one on the corrado?
Is it a reliable car if it's clean and stock?
No
yeah although the headgaskets blow around 130k i got my for $500 (first car) after that no issues (they blow due to them having the incorrect torque spec from factory)
It’s a 4 Door MK3 Supra Quit the Cap 💀
The first Gen GS was the only car to actually use frames brakes and seat bolting
LMFAO
wow so this is just a cope chaser
I think Mishi Moto gets confused by the smooth brains as busiMoto, and they think it’s just as good.
You guys would be baffled at the miles on mines
7MGTE Cressida is the easiest , cheapest ''swap'' , MK3 Supra turbo guys just throw them away to go 1J 2J ... Got mine for 500$ with a W58... The swap is drop in.
The 350z is so ugly it haas nice power but I don’t want to sit i. A coupe volkswagen beatle i want a good looking car what are good alternatives
350z also sound horrible
They look like coupe VW beetle’s
paid 500 for my 91 in mint condition
84 mx62 wagon here, buick 3800jz>2jz
What is the problem with the Cressida? If you Found one for less than 2500 and the condition of the car is spotless and there are no problems with it.
Better than the 10k 240sx or 350z , I think the Cressida is better
If it's cheap and clean, nothing wrong with it at all. But if you found a same price same condition 240sx, which would you choose?
@@carfriendsimulator9981 I would choose the 240sx Because it's better than the Cressida
@@ia7_mdi worse engine, less reliable, 100 percent gonna have problems you dont relise cause its gonna have been owned by a 17 year old wanna be boy racer thats fucked things that you cant even see. Honestly 240sx is only owned by people that buy it to show off now, buy a car for yourself not others
3:34 If that's a 9, how shitty does a car have to be for this guy to call it a 6?
Anyone with a good Cressida isn't selling it
bought my 1990 cressida for 2.300$ (canadian $) with 71 000km! fucking MINT
the reason i bought it is cauz its a foor door, that you NEVER see anywere so its unique af, and yeah rwd chassis cauz fuck fwd
Curious what you guys think of the first gen Cressida. I have one and it’s by far my favorite gen of the Cressida we got here in the states.
22:55 Lmao
*feed mispronounces alamo gordo*
*netgear “corrects” him*
(netgear said it exactly the same)
m'gordo
My car is bone stock, what
Good car
Cressida tax is so hard to watch. These are cheap as compared to Australia. Manual swap any of these and they're fun. Which why they're getting so fucking pricey these days. Fucking oath the first thing I'd swap my R31 wagon for would be a good condition white X70 with red interior and a manual swap.
Also straight up that white X83 with the 2J probably sold for 10K or more. That's a fucking good deal these days for a running car 2JZGTE.
Australia, South Africa and Philippines they love the Cressidas to the point its cult status over there.
Is anyone NOT an idiot to Netgear? Asking for a friend.
Anime girls
I like the cressida mainly for it being a boxy 80s sedan. I don't care that you can do whatever with it, I just like bricks. However with the money some of these dumbasses want for their cressidas you could probably import a decent Laurel and have fun with that.
Hahaha god you guys hate everything 😂😂
These guys aren't actually car guys. If it's not a 350, mustang or e36 they hate it.
Or you could buy a Volvo 240 for a tenth of the price
I had a nice stock '87 Cressida wagon when I lived in San Diego circa 2012, got it for $1800 and that's about all I'd want to pay for one, though I'm sure a similar condition one would now go for about 10k if you could even find one. It was reliable transportation that I thought looked sleek and unique, but honestly there was nothing amazing about the car or platform. Lots of nifty luxury features like light-sensing headlights that were probably amazing in 1987, but it was fairly slow and handling was mid by today's standards. Hauled a LOT of big stuff in it, from engine blocks to lumber. Eventually sold it to some old Toyota nut for $1000 after it failed smog, and got a manual '97 Escort Wagon that was probably quicker. Those old 5 & 7-MGE engines were reliable but weak. I miss it for its practicality but nothing else. I think a lowering kit would've ruined it.
Asking for nb miata vid #26
Mishimoto is from like ohio or something
Their products aren't
Yes, and Apple is "designed in California"
@@carfriendsimulator9981 Who would even want something designed in California nowadays though?
The 7mg is dog shit whether it has 30 miles or 300,000 miles mama mia Toyota why
Just get a E chassis bmw theres plenty of them and they have better engines because, ZE JERMANZZ!!
Trust no German
Whoahh..almost forgot to smash that like button
Hey I'm in Hilo
"I've made modifications to the car so now it's worth more"
Someone has to explain this mentality to me, 9/10 times modifications are shit you have to undo at additional cost.
Think about it, even if you wanted to modify the car you're usually going to be wanting to remove what's already been done so you can do your thing - now with the added complication of shit not being stock and mystery gremlins popping up allover the place.
Why would you pay extra from a clapped out, POS soonbox when the same car can be had for less and in more desirable condition?
Delete this, you're going to upset the idiots
Rather go with a first gen maxima than these clout camrys
In all honesty, I solely love the Cressida for the body style, I keep buying them like a dumbass 🫡 because they’re a huge headache, in terms of support, there is practically nothing (for my mx63) if you plan on getting into them, just know it’s not all that fun
I’ve had an 88, and now have a 83. They’re really cool quirky cars but this car was the first vehicle with an “eco” mode, so you can imagine all the rest of the experimental tech they tried to throw in this Mf
Side note; I bought my last one for 1700$ running and driving and now is having issues with fuel sending 🙃
