    Amazing content as always! Thank you for putting all of this together! I had a quick question. On your website it states that the DeAuto Gen TR 2.0 is dimmable. I'm wondering if this will work in place of a 9005 high beam that has DRL function, or if I would need to look at the Morimoto 2stroke's.

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Markus for the support! I would go with the Morimoto's if you are looking for a dimmable LED in a DRL. The DeAuto's and others may work, but they are not designed to dim. Apologies for the confusion there. We just test them on a standard linear DC rail down to about 6v, but many vehicles use PWM and have varying volage which could cause issues. The Morimoto's also dim down properly in the DRL setting which is a huge benefit especially in a high-beam.

    • @MClass2011
      @MClass2011 2 года назад +2

      @@BulbFacts Great info! Really appreciate the advice and quality content! I'll likely go with the Morimoto's after I sort out my low beam brightness issues. I have the DDM tuning saber V2's, but I've had brightness issues despite picking up new housings after a projector delamination issue. They are still not up to optimal output (measured around 480 lux at 20ft on the hot spot). Had the new housings replaced under warranty, just have to put them in and hopefully that will resolve the issue. Thank you again for the advice!

      @BulbFacts Do you mind if I pick your brain...I have a 04 Lexus gs300 which has the four headlight system, outside low beams, inside drl/high beam. I'm switching to aftermarket headlights with 3inch projectors inside of a led halo for low beams, and reflector for drl/high beam inside a halo. My question is if the headlight wiring is changed to H7 low, H1 high ( drl is the 4 halos ) what yellow led do you recommend for the reflector housing because I plan on keeping stock drl yellow lights. So would the Morimoto be a lighting system I should get for the reflector housing? ( Happy New Year )

    Glad I stumbled across your channel. Is there ever a time where an LED just isn't a better option over incandescent OE bulbs? Maybe the reflective light design just isn't that great for LEDs? I am finding LEDs aren't working well for my daughter's 2010 Kia Forte
    Also love to see comparison on fanless options. My 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie with 9005 projection lights require a cap to be installed on the back of the headlight assembly to keep dirt and debris out. Fan options just aren't possible. So my options of quality is slim. I typically just buy whatever I can that have heat ribbons instead of a fan. Quality is hit or miss.
    Thanks and keep making great videos.

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  2 года назад

      Hi Greg. LED may not be a good option in all scenarios, such as your daughter's Kia. Some headlights don't have the capacity to handle the higher output and produce too much glare. Our test headlights which resemble most of the vehicles out there did well, but I do hear once in a while that a particular headlight didn't perform well. Hopefully in the future I can add those headlights and do some further testing.
      I wouldn't worry about having to go fanless in your Ram. The fan on the LED is simply to keep the diodes as cool as possible for the best output. You can run them in a sealed beam (with the dust cap) as long as you have at least some room for the airflow (LED fan/housing shouldn't press up against the cap). There are some decent fanless options like the GTR CSP Mini which I always recommend, but I would go with a fan powered LED. Ribbon cooling type LEDs don't seem to do well either based on our tests.

    Thanks for the effort put into the videos. Good job. I have DDM Tuning Saber ProX 55W Accu/V2 yellow fog light bulbs on a Mercedes ML W164 and they do a great job. I drive in the fog where even the birds walk and Saber ProX 55W Accu/V2 yellow fog light bulbs (3000 K) allow me to drive quite fast. I believe they were the best at the time of the video. However, this year DDM Tuning got extremely strong competition: the Auxbeam GX 25,000 lumens and the Hikari 2023 Future 30,000LM. I occasionally use the aforementioned Auxbeam GX 25,000 lumens as a high beam and even it helps quite well in fog, even though it is white in color, ie. 6,000 K. Namely, the large amount of light illuminates traffic signs and road lines exceptionally well and far away.

      @@neometalx9 That's right. I would be interested if someone did a comparison between Hikari Titanova Hikari 2023 Future and DDM Tuning SaberLED ProX 65W. I looked at the comparisons between the Hikari Titanova 2023 Future and the Auxbeam GX 25000LM and the winner is said to be the Hikari. I also looked at the DDM Tuning SaberLED ProX 65W and Auxbeam GX 25000LM comparison. Auxbeam lost there too. However, I am still in a dilemma as to which is better: Hikari Titanova 2023 Future or DDM Tuning SaberLED ProX 65W. @BulbFacts  2 года назад

      Hi Dee. We haven't tested any classic style headlights, so I can't really say for sure what will work well. Our tests are based more on modern headlights. If the headlight though uses a replaceable bulb, you should be able to install the Philips Pro9000 LEDs, which would be highly recommended in fact due to it's pure white color and perfect beam ability. I would reach out to Headlight Revolution as they seem to offer some custom headlights for classic cars, and may have a better recommendation for you.

    Hi thanks for the great explanation. I have separate reflector for low and high. Would you recommend use 6000K in both low and high? Or should I use 4500K for high and should I use 4500K or 3000K for fog light? Thanks in advance.

    • @BulbFacts

      Hi Kerwyn, it's entirely up to you, but both work well in all conditions. The 4500k is going to be easier on the eyes when it's snowing, raining, etc. 3000k is a good color to cut through fog. The 'best' configuration in my opinion would be 6000k low beam, 4500k high beam, and 3000k fog-lights. But most people like to use one color to match everything up for a better look.

      Thanks for sharing! The Katana's are a great product, and it sounds like you may have gotten a lower quality batch Hikari, as our tests showed they performed very well. But of course the position of the diodes could effect the output, and every headlights is a bit different, so the results could differ due to that as well. Hi Brad, I would go with the GTR Lighting Ultra 2 with the added Pro Decoders. They seem to perform well on the newer Rams for some reason compared to other LEDs which either have issues or wear out prematurely. They are extremely bright, and while they didn't make the #1 spot, they weren't far off. They are a bit more expensive due to their lifetime warranty.

    Question are the DDM ProX V2 really that good? Are they better than just using an HID kit in terms of how far it throws? That's usually the consensus with the overall community that HID kits are generally better than LED ones, unless these are really that good.

      See if they are adjustable (clockable) and if so try to adjust so that the LEDs (diodes) are pointed exactly left and right (side to side). In some cases they'll install at an angle, which is fine for a halogen bulb, but messes up the beam with and LED.

      Hi Jacob, they have gotten close. I would still recommend sticking with Xenon though, as you'll get the best beam. There are great upgrade options from both the major brands (Philips and OSRAM) as well as aftermarket brands. www.bulbfacts.com/hid-oe/recommended/ - Another thing i want to mention, is using LED in a bi-halogen or bi-xenon projector typically limits the high-beam output drastically, so we never recommend LEDs in those types of applications.

    Hey man! We missed you. I recently bought a new car i was thinking to change bulbs... your channel came up to my mind and you just uploaded this video.
    I found that my old car was easier, it had reflector headlights and there were so many options, the techmax were great (your recommendation of course)!
    Now i have a VW CC, it has HID proyector headlights, D3S format and...i just don't know which bulb to buy, there is so much lesser offer of this format.
    I really miss reflectors with LED techmax compared to these proyectors with OSRAM HID
    So, i watched your 2018 video, that said that HID was still better than LED in proyectors...but today?
    In this video you show DDM, really really expensive D3S, excellent but unaffordable
    And the budget kit (cougar motor) does not exist on D3S format...
    So shoud i say bye to LEDs and better stick HID? :(
    And what about HID, i looked on your webpage, and you recommend DDM again. But there are no, further options specially in this socket (D3S)
    Would you say to stay with HID (DDM ultra) or do you know another LED brand tested that Builds D3S ? (amazon reviews are really uncertain on other brands compared to your reviews)
    By the way...DDM HID light cut is as precise as OEM (i consider that really importat)?

      Hi Meritello. Thanks, glad to bring more content! Life's been busy, but I try to at least make a video here and there with updated recommendations for everybody. So for your VW CC with Xenon headlight projectors, you can move to LED, but keep in mind that you'll have to bypass the ballast more than likely, which can require some adapters or wire splicing. Because you have D3S, they are an eco-type Xenarc bulb with lesser output over D1S (which contains Mercury, and runs at a higher voltage). You can however upgrade to a better OE style Xenon bulb. Take a look at our recommendations here; bulbfacts.com/hid-oe/recommended/ . OSRAM and Philips offer brighter / whiter options. You could go aftermarket like DDM or simliar for the HID bulbs, but they won't last as long compared to the OSRAM and Philips. I hope that helps!

Install is a bit more involved though; www.bulbfacts.com/hid-kits/recommended/ - You can also go with an LED drop-in. The DDM ProX V2's are our top pick in a Kia projector; www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/recommended/#hp - Hope that helps!

    Any opinion on Diode Dynamics SL1 in projectors?

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  2 года назад +1

      No sorry, as they don't offer an H7 size, so we were unable to officially test in our headlight projectors. They are a great product made in the USA with a perfect beam pattern, but there are much brighter options if that is what you are looking for. If you have halogen projectors, I would recommend an HID conversion rather, or the DDM ProX V2s.

    5:28 Are you saying these LEDs don't work well in bi-halogen projectors?
    I had enough of the cheap HID kits so i was hoping for LEDs. Currently on DDM Tuning HID 55W ballasts, the bulbs and ballasts died a few times and the light output diminishes greatly after just a few months (same on my car and motorcycle). Right now, i don't think they are any brighter than halogens - i really hate them.

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  2 года назад +1

      Hi Mickey, that's correct. I wouldn't recommend LED for a bi-halogen projector. You WILL get more upward output, but it's limited and nothing like HID. We have tested DDM's basic HID kit and they are ok, but very cheap like other similarly priced kits. Their 'ultra' bulbs are quite good and similar in quality to CNLight used by Morimoto and the like. You can find our latest recommendations for HID conversion kits here; bulbfacts.com/hid-kits/recommended/

      Diode Dynamics are made in the US if you want to check them out. China produces a lot of electronics, and it will depend more on QC (for example flagship smartphones are made in China with a high level of quality control). So there are a lot of great products, and not so great products.
