I like the original motor better. I love LS motors, but I'd just keep that motor and put some nice heads, and EFI system on it. Basically, it's the same thing.
Right.
Missing the chopper build, when's the next video coming out?
Soon...
Pontiac didn't use the Power Glide transmission. That would be the two speed ST300 known as the Super Turbine 300. Nothing in common with the Power Glide.
ok. i got rid of it
Love that old school "BANG" as hoods and trunks and doors close with authority!
Watch your fingers!
I did a 5.3 swap on my C10 awhile back, its awesome. Holler if you have any questions, I might have the answer, probably not though, haha.
Thank you. Definitely going to have questions!
Thats one beautiful 71 Pontiac lemans Convertible brother and the LS is going to be a beast when its all done.
It is a beast. Stay tuned for more videos
@@KingpinGarage will do.
I like what your doing. I built my sbc 406 almost 25 years ago went all out stoked it installed a roller cam Edelbrock rpm heads and pro flow fuel injection system you name it. It's a beast and gets respectful milage on the highway. But if I had to do it again today I'd go with an LS you can make much more power and get even better fuel mileage it just makes more sense to do. That's in my 64 SS chevelle convertible not a daily car. My 2000 s10 extreme will be getting an LS swap eventually you want to see limited space try putting a V8 into an s10 it's gonna be a challenge doing a clean install.
Nice! Luckily a bodies have tons of space under the hood for an ls so it was a breeze to swap in
hey i would like to see more of the LS engine swap. I want to do to my 71 lemans also.thanks
Thanks for the comment! The LS swap is done, but i’ve had countless issues with the footage itself. It may be a while till I can get a video out. Thank you for your patience and good luck on your build! You can message us on instagram if you have any questions about it.
I'm not much of a car guy but that sounds sooo good!
Thanks man!
Put one in my 1970 lemans last year made my own mounts to
Looks good! It looks to me that your 6.0L is the LQ9, the engine cover is for the LQ9 not the LQ4. I am swapping a 07 L92 6.2L and 6L80E into my Lemans GT-37.
Very nice! I am very behind on editing and the car is actually done now. Check it out on our instagram!
Did you ever finish
Yes. Have not had time to make a video
Love the car man. What size tires?
225 in the front and 245 in the rear 15x7 all the way around. Wait till you see what I'm replacing them with...
If you're intent on pulling out the Pontiac engine, what is your plan for it afterwards? If you need someone to take it off your hands let me know.
Sorry, I already sold it. Plus it had 0 oil pressure so it would’ve needed to be rebuilt
...why would you swap a nice original motor like that.....you kids kill me :( ...and the future of cars and bikes :(
The motor is not a nice motor. It has very low oil pressure and it has tons of blow-by. The car has gone through a frame-off restoration and it was kind of butchered. This car is by no means a perfectly original car. I bought this car (very inexpensively) with the purpose of upgrading it. If you want my original motor, I'll sell it to you.
Unfortunately, when Ponitac made that "universal" block, it wasn't good for any displacement bored into it. Rings and seals just aren't as rock solid as blocks built exclusive to the bore. I can fully appreciate dropping a big reliable motor in, that can be upgraded without worries.
@@SLO-Ride Totally agree. I'm shooting for drivability and reliability for this car so an iron block - aluminum head motor that is well engineered is a must-have. I would love to build a car with an older motor like a big block, but I'd want to do it right rather than a big block sized 350 😂😂
It takes twice as much money to build a Pontic 350 than just replacing it with a 400. Very very few Pontiac guys even bother doing so but better yet I think a LS swap would be even better in a Lemans.
Never do anything original when can do whatever everybody else does,lol...not a LS fan there ok but I HATE a motor I gotta rev to 6grand b4 does anything. . PONTIAC BLOCKS have never been appreciated by the hold to the floor crowd and eventually it'll go.. Poncho's have torque WAY MORE then the LS and the do it ALL b4 5grand! Outside of banana peel rods good luck with the LS,once you open one up and build it to last you'll have more in it then a killer 461 butler..but all hot rodding has when started are the original recyclers and anything goes..sorry you didn't get a good normal running Pontiac to appreciate what I've stated but even my oldest (Chevy guy) has learned when I tweaked his 389 in Catalina the torque potential and I could still get another 4" timing of tire melter out of it!
that paint isn't rare. Lq9's came out of Cadillac's, lq4 were Chevy & GMC
the engine paint is not rare. every pontiac engine was painted that color pontiac blue
The color isn't rare, the duplicolor engine enamel cans are rare.
