Hi there. I watched this to see if you got into manual (fixed) DHCP IP assignment. I have read the manual and even contacted Xiaomi ZA support. Unfortunately, the people responding don't seem to understand the question. They think I want to assign the router with a custom IP whereas I actually want to assign a device on the network with a fixed IP (e.g. my NAS). The DHCP page of the LAN settings is confusing as, if believed, all IP assignments are static, which I tend to doubt. Routers tend to expire IP's not active after a period of time. If fixed, they do not expire. Do you have any experience with manual IP assignments on the AX3000? Many thanks.
Hi@@WootDini thanks for the reply. I don't think my NAS (ASUStor) can select its IP from the AX3000. I understood that only the AX3000 can assign IP's on its network. What's confusing is the Xiaomi dashboard, for DHCP assignments, seemingly suggesting that all its assignments are static. But if they are, then each device needs to be able to edit the period before the AX3000 releases an IP for inactivity, and there is no such setting. TBH, the ASUS routers are much easier to understand and set up. That said, I do like the AX3000 on many other levels.
My previous comment was removed probably because of an screenshot link. Just open the DHCP static ip assignment (click add button) and remove everything that you don’t want assign static. Then click add and it will only assign those ip’s/devices statically. Pretty mediocre UI but it works.
Thank you very much for the update. I have bought a unit and successfully connected it next to the router with an ethernet cable, I see the new xiaomi router on the mobile and I connect just fine. Heya, so that's how mesh works, they meant to form a seamless connection by sharing data from one to the next. With 1 lan port you can do this, backhaul (the technical name for using cables into all) is one operating mode. But the further away from primary the slower the net will be, it's just the nature of tech. But to answer your question you can keep on meshing without concern for connection to primary

I have just connected the Zyxel EX3301 router (from my company Digi), and by wifi (without cable), to two Xiaomi Mesh System AX3000, to try to make a mesh. For now it works fine, but it's still too early to assess the stability of this network, I'm not even sure if the Xiaomis work as simple repeaters or as a mesh.
How would I know if they are working as mesh or not?
The main router manual does say that you can do the mesh with devices from other brands, if they have compatible protocols.
For now, the problem that I detect and I don't know how to solve is that sometimes the Xiaomis lose the internet, they turn orange, for no apparent reason. It happens mostly in the morning when we wake up, I don't know if it has to do with some energy saving mode when they are inactive for a certain time.@@09juighi

hello, one question: i should cover very large area (and with many barriers) and 2 would not be enough. is it possible to extend the network in a line with only one lan starting point (router->LAN cable->mash1->mash2->mash3->mash4)? in other words, where the farthest receiver ("mash4") has no connection with the first one connected to the router? thanks
Does it has the "router" itself or I have to get separate router for it?
@@WootDini Thanks for your quick reply, One last question what is the range between both units? And If I have 2 separate internets (from different ISP) can I connect both in a single node?

We recommend that you set up a new separate mesh network if you want to use more routers.”

I can't found "router apps" in my apps? Do you know why it's happened?

When i click on "Add mesh device", the app doesn't find a anything. As I'm having oculus quest airlink lag issue I think it might be linked...
@@WootDini I eventually tried that. But I'm right at the lowest distance for 5ghz WiFi. I bet if I tried to put the second ax3000 further, it wouldn't work.
