Just bought this same engine and found it impossible to raise it after lowering. Read the manual over and over and nothing worked. I finally googled can't raise Suzuki 2.5 hp outboard and your video came up. Turned the nut 1/4 turn and it solved the problem. I don't think I would have thought of that nut as the culprit and would eventually given up. Someone should notify Suzuki of this problem because it must be much more common than just a few. Again thanks for the solution it it was a lifesaver.
Glad this video helped! Thank you so much for watching and commenting. That is a fine motor and I have had great fun with it. Wish you all the best with it. Happy boating!
Thank you soooo much for showing me how to adjust the tilt. I spent 3 hrs on it until I watched your video and with a half turn on the correct bolt, it freed up the tilt. Thanks. Dan
Thank you! Glad I could help. I'm fishing with an angler from Seattle here on the West Coast of India. He's doing pretty good on the barramundi here from the shore. Let me upload some videos of me fishing with him soon in my channel.
Thanks for the tip on the tilt! Mine was extremely difficult at first, until I loosened that nut. Love the outboard, it's quiet, light, and moves my Pelican Catch PWR 100 kayak with ease.
Glad it worked 😊 I never thought about that nut myself for a while and then at one point it hit me. It is a great outboard if you're using it for what it's meant to do. I wish I had a kayak, but may be one day 😊
Same motor. Problem with tilt lock not holding the engine up. Somehow the silver tilt lock lever had become bent. I may have hit a rock? Took off the bolt that retains that lever, put it in a vice and straightened the J Curve until it fit flush in the mount again. Tricky getting the little spring back on, but now it locks again when raised. Adjusted the tilt friction as suggested in this video. All good. Thx!
Thank you for the tips! I have this outboard and use it on a square stern, aluminum canoe. This motor is the perfect size for this and I love how quiet and easy to start it is. Best of luck in your backwater fishing! Great video and very nice outboard, we love it.
Thank you Dave! Had a blast in Goa/Goakarna with this rig. I just moved to Ireland. Will probably get a good Kayak here and see how I fare with it. Thanks again for watching this video and commenting. Happy boating!
I'm so glad this video helped. Thank you for watching and commenting. It's a great motor. I hope that you have a good time on the water with your adventures 👍
Mahalo! I love my Suzuki 2.5 but I do recommend turning 'off' the fuel valve so you burn all the fuel off since the carburetor is very small & can get 'gummed' up!
@@KonkanFishing I am thinking the other way. Cut a hole on the chair and put a tall bucket with water through it. That way it also can act as a counterweight when you wanna tilt it up the other way.
@@vrr2201 gotcha now. That'll work 👍 Thank you for watching and commenting 😊 Waiting for the monsoon to pass through, which should be in a couple of weeks and I can get some good use out of this motor on my Intex Mariner 4 inflatable raft 😊
I don't have any leak. How old is yours? I turn off fuel and tighten the air vent before I tilt the motor, while I transport and store the motor. I turn the fuel and the air vent is on, just before starting the engine and turn it off when I'm back at the shore before tilting and/or removing the motor from the transom.
Thank you for your helpful video! The nut was tight on mine also. So, I have loosened the nut, but I still can’t get it to tilt UP. For tilting UP, must I press a tiny silver lever while also pulling the motor up at the same time? Or can it get tilted up without pressing any lever? Thanks.
You need to lift that lever before tilting up. I guess you must have figured that out by now anyway. Sorry about the late response. I was traveling a bit and haven't checked the messages in a while. Hope this helps.
Nice video, can't wait to see the motor on your boat. Quick question though, can you run fuel directly from an external gas can with a hose or fuel line to the motor?
Hi, this is a dumb question but when I put it in idle for the first five minutes of starting it cold, what does the idle look like on the throttle handle? Is it the picture that resembles the symbol of the choke? Or do I just leave it in the start position (between the speed and choke symbol)?

Hey buddy. Nice video. Could you let me know the price and from where you bought this machine?
Thank you! I bought this in Pondicherry from Ram. His contact number is +919790475537 ... Hope that helps!
Can you please say what is the price for this engine and is it sutaible for 20feet fibre boat
You can use it on a 20' fibre boat as long as it is one of those narrow ones less than 3' wide. I paid a little over 50K INR for this motor.
Almost dropped it there right at the end... dintcha 🤣lol
Lol! I almost did 😁

Just leave it in the lowest throttle and in neutral. That's idle 😊

What do you think about the fishing in karwar
That stretch all the way down till Kumta is good for fishing.
What about the whole naval area with the break waters, rocky areas and the wave less beaches and boat jetties
Those places should be good, but I wonder if they'll allow anyone to fish there.
Don't worry I've already taken care of that
Then you should have a great time fishing those pristine waters 👍
