Something I think many MMO:s missed the mark on, is that they only have one starting zone, compared to WoW who had several unique ones. This made it so much more fun I think, that it was another experience depending on what you chose. For example some who didn't have this was Wildstar and New World. I think it's important to having different unique starting zones, it also makes the replayabbility better and the world feel bigger.

I really liked Rift. Their classes were so cool. Being able to combine and mix the different skills to make it work for whatever role you were going to play was great. I also would like to see Tank, Heals, DPS, and BUFFERS/SUPPORT. That was one thing that Rift had and it was freaking great. It also appeals to healers since they already like to support the team and this gives them another way that they can do that without pushing all your friends into a different role. A few of my friends are healers but you can only have so many in one dungeon run or boss battle. Having a SUPPORT role it allows almost like having 2 healers in a way and allows you to fill that gap.

water mounts and fishing while listening to the ocean waves sweep under you is quite fun. Hope we get a water mount similar to Lapras

@5:10 most promising argument for me: zones that look peacefull and sunny, summer vibes. Still macabre stuff can happen. So many mmo's love their rain, thunder, dark, cavey areas. It's okay to have them, but I'd love it to be mostly how Greg described it in that segment of the video. Hope it will be true for the game.

oh right when i heard they have someone who worked on evoker from wow, i got hyped, im probably one of the few that likes the class and especially what they did with Augmentation, i always wanted a "support not heal" (buffs and stuff) in wow and im glad they made it! hopefully they bring something like that in Ghost, the most obvious class they could make is a Bard! which sounds perfect for a Support class!

I enjoy playing with a select group of friends, but often my response to strangers doing competing for the same stuff as me while questing is just mouth frothing misanthropy. Blue shards sound like a good fix, but hopefully red shards have modern shared tagging and such so I don't have to hate everyone around me.

great podcast, great questions and i rly like the answers to all of them a lot . not just saying it but rly meaning it
yes, fishing is essential ! and i rly like Greg´s thinking about it, he is totally right. same with the social aspect. i am missing that A LOT in mmorpgs nowdays
keep it going guys and girls 👍👍

I hope there will be some kind of quicker group finder for super lesser content, I definitely have no interest in spamming chat to go cleanse an especially stinky boar den or something. (I just hope that endgame has more options than raiding [big group] or racing [small group], that seems to have killed the idea of difficult regular party sized instances in favor of speedrunning weekly chores.)
I also hope that I can fish next to a pug. A fishing class would be fun! Fishing based blue shards!? Either way, might make trying to find those groups less painful.

what would get me excited for a new mmorpg?
sandbox open world with proper exploration and hidden stuff, a world large enough to get lost in, and a world large enough that it takes real life weeks to get from one side to the other. yes, there would be a lot of open space with mobs to kill and nothing much more. but that space can be expanded upon at a later date with hand made content. like randomly adding a dungeon at the edge of a mountain that used to be just a mountain. or an area where players kept dying often, the developer decide to add a crypt style dungeon there. there are a LOT of options that can be done.
pay to play is best. 15/m with discounts for multi month purchases (14/m for 3 months. 13/m for 6 months. 12/m for 12 months). its the most fair way. the developers make money, it will keep the game going. it allows you to add more content. fix bugs. have active GM's that help with player issues. helps keep cheaters and botters out. etc. expansions? free. you are already paying 15/m. when an expansion comes out, you get a flood of people re-activating their subscription. so you get the money as if buying it. there is no reason to be greedy. 15/m with discounts for multi-month pre-purchase is the most fair option to gamers.

I hate buyable cosmetics and battle-passes. Unless its a game like League. Then it works. Because skins don't matter. But in an MMO, where a lot of your prestige comes from having cool gear, being able to buy that looks for real money destroys the game I think. I hate that in retail wow, I stopped play Wow in Wrath, I came back for classic. I think if a game is good, subscription is better and it lets the game keep its soul. But we all know it generates less money and gaming companies today are more interested in making lots of money than having idealism of what a game should be.

can someone tell greg we wanna love him and want to support him but wish his twitter wasnt tending towards the culture wars lately.i understand its tempting to own chuds or whatever but its also off putting and combatively reductive. we want to just be excited for the game. (well i do anyways)
