In my opinion (swedish high level Stiga player since the 80s) your ice could need a zamboni :) Now the puck stops very sudden. Use some windex and rub the ice with a cloth to get less friction and more action. You've got hundreds hours of fun ahead of you. Enjoy!
I took the ice off and applied turtle wax to the sheet and puck as well. The action became so much faster and fluid. It also helped to lube the tracks underneath with some graphite powder.
Some additional advice to make it even more fun: Buy blu-tack (poster putty) and put a piece under each game foot, to keep it steady on the table. And don't be afraid to let go of you goalie when you have puck possession. Being able to do combinations (pass+one timer) or passes where the receiving player collects the puck to get control of it, will improve you skills and make it even more fun.
Table hockey in my opinion is the best game ever invented. Whether as a kid or an adult, it's so much fun. I have seen though the years very elaborate ones and have tried to find some of these, but they are either not in production anymore or just very hard to find. I've heard this brand is rated the best for (reasonably affordable) home use. I looked into a Chexx, and frankly, would buy one, but I hate the fact that even though you're spending over four K, you get a SQUARE playing surface and well, obviously, hockey is played on a rectangular surface. I never understood why Chexx does that.
We had a puck with a ball bearing in the middle which was a much faster game. That rolling puck changed the way you play and you had to be on your toes! They sell the 'marble puck' on Amazon... Awesome game guys!
I tried to order one of those pucks from the etailer that I bought the Stiga from . Always on back order. We tried another but the bearing was too heavy. I can imagine the right weight would be great ! Much faster

I usually add cardboard to the left and right sides to help with the puck flying out of the rink.. 👍🏻
