    I have made things out of cardboard and foam board for years, countless back drops for school plays and local theater.... what did I never think to do this in my home???? I have a mirror that I’ve wanted to do something with and this would be a perfect inexpensive frame for it. I love your ideas!😉👍🏼

    Maybe using two layers of foam board would give it more depth but love love love this!!

    I like the idea of wrapping it in painters tape ....you could them add caulk or joint compound or spackling all over it to give it more texture and depth and them do the paint treatment over it.....

    Absolutely gorgeous and so creative! I was thinking when you were cutting out the larger windows and you had the flap opened but still attached (if I make any sense at all lol) it reminded me of an open shutter. I think that would look cool too. Would love to see more of these in different styles and finishes. Beautiful work as always! Tyfs!

      Domer Home While watching the cutting, I was wondering if maybe a rotary cutter would be easier--you know the little cutters that look like pizza cutters? I use one all the time to cut craft vinyl for my Cricut machine. It's super sharp!

    What a clever idea....Dang girl where in the world do you come up with all these awesome ideas? lol! My sister was looking at cathedral windows at Kirklands and they are so super expensive. Yes, made from wood...or plastic to look like wood but still! And, if you wanted this a bit thicker...you could use two pieces of foam board glued together and cut out! Ideas!!!! :-) You're awesome!

    Hi! I am pretty new to your channel and I don't think I have ever commented allot or at all. But I love this.!!❤❤ and its something I can do! I have a couple questions I hope you can answer...if I wanted the smoother look on the sides you side you can put painters tape on the side, will the edges of the tape show through the paint? Also when you sprayed the matte finish did you have to wait another 12 hours to spray it after you had put on the second coat of gel stain? Also can I get another stain from Wal-Mart (a cheaper brand) ? sorry so many questions I just love this and want to make one so bad!!! Thank you!! Can you do more foam board stuff in the future???😍😍❤❤

    • @TheDailyDIYer
      @TheDailyDIYer  6 лет назад +3

      Oh! WIsh you'dl comment more! Love connecting with everyone! To answer your questions 1) Put the tape on top and fold over the edges so you don't see a line (use wide tape to be able to do this) 2) The spray matte finish drys super fast. No need to wait that long in between coats. Maybe 15-20 minutes, depending on the temp and humidity in your area. Just make sure it's dry all the way before applying a 2nd coat. You can check Walmart - and brand is fine, just make sure it's a "GEL" stain. You don't want an oil based stain or a water based stain. I hope that helps! Happy Crafting!

    I had to make mine a lot smaller for my not even 1000 sq ft house (and wider instead of going up lol), but I have a question. How do you attach your little wreath to it? I hope I didn't make mine TOO small so a nice wreath won't over power it.

  • @dollyad4953

    Great job! I love it....but I have a question. Once you sand off the rough edges, do you think it's possible to do a resin pour in the open spaces? If I used clear packing tape as backing to the window that would stop the resin from seeping out. Then I would just peel it off once the resin has cured. Of course I would also tint the resin too and maybe embed some pictures in the resin. This gives me a few ideas to experiment with. What do you think?

    • @hannahcrumley3103
      @hannahcrumley3103 6 лет назад +1

      Dolly Ad I’m wondering if using window glazing would work - apply it after the stain is all dry and leave it white- or do it before and stain it along with the foam board.

      It's the base coat that shows through just a tad. You don't want white showing through in light spots when you are wiping. It makes it look more "real" with the faux wood technique
