Mothman was probably a misidentified owl, more specifically several owls on different occasions. Mothman sightings list a few different colorings similar to owls that live in the area. Owls can have red reflections in their eyes, they have much longer legs than you’d think (explaining the “man shape”), and people often mistake the size of things in the dark and will often exaggerate the size in Cryptid sightings, or the press will want a better story so they sensationalize things to sell better. Another Cryptid in the West Virginia area (the flatwoods monster) was also probably an owl (Also if you ever want to do more Cryptids theres the flatwoods monster, the Ropen, Owlman, the beast of Gévaudan, the snallygaster, and the big cats of england)
I think the thing that you said about MothMan is right, I have seen this show where these people look into cryptid sightings and try to debunk them, and when they tested to see if the people could tell the sizes of wood cutouts of MothMan, they thought that the smallest one was really big, so it could've been an owl.

I think the thing that you said about MothMan is right, I have seen this show where these people look into cryptid sightings and try to debunk them, and when they tested to see if the people could tell the sizes of wood cutouts of MothMan, they thought that the smallest one was really big, so it could've been an owl.
