I was there that day. CK was an absolute embarrassment. He said he was sliding down his chair in the press conference - that's what most of the Bok as supporters were doing in the stands watching!!! Nothing to do with the result - England were better. But the manner in which players - esp the captain played, was utterly embarrassing. Its the only time I've ever left a stadium after watching the Boks somewhat ashamed to be wearing my green jersey...
@@WalterWhite-ln7fs That 36 - 0 game was one of my favourites. Seeing them walk out of the tunnel I knew there was no way they are going to lose that game.
This had nothing to do with the Boer War - but a lot to do with trying to even the odds against a far superior team. It was a more than embarrassing. However, remember well playing the Afrikaans schools and getting klopped a plenty for no particular reason. Many years ago. That probably was partly due to the Boer War and some particular type of rocks short of the full boulder. We also used to enjoy some lekker streets fights ‘Souties’ versus ‘Rocks’. The good ol’ days! What mates we became!
How about his blatant 2 head butts in the super rugby game against the chiefs. Lol. He literally grabbed the guys head and launches his head into him twice. That was the end for Corne.
He wasn't always so blatantly dirty, he was just a tough bastard mostly. He even intimidated Ritchie Mccaw. That red card was total BS even by today's trigger happy refs. No way Martin Johnson whould have shown a red card for the same hit on Pretorius. Back in those days playing 14 against 15 was gonna be a massacre. Krige would have been a legend if he played in a different Springbok Era. That was unfortunately a pretty weak and inexperienced side.
Lol . Corne krige made you ashamed being South Africa , not the murders , corruption , the rape of women , the destruction of infrastructure , not eskom.. but corne krige . Wtf . You have serious issues .
Aye, but twas the English Crown that sanctioned it. 'Mother England', with the English as the Nation in the British Isles that made those decisions as the dominant power, after having already subdued the rest of the 'Home Nations after centuries of bloody warfare and ultimate conquest. The Scots, Welsh, Irish and Cornish soldiers simply went where they were sent, obeyed English orders, and died in their countless thousands to satiate English 'interests' abroad. That, is fact, not fiction.
@@KernowekTim Do you think the English soldiers were somehow different just because they might have been born in a different city? Do you think any part of Britain was a democracy at that time? All of the British Isles was controlled by the same rulers mate

That 50 points loss still haunts me.
I was there. That whole end of year tour was a mess.
@@fourieorama must have been horrible, especially with swing low sweet chariot..
We got them back 2007 in Bloemfontein and Pretoria ...50 points both tests ...36 nil later that year

@@contrarian717 The English fans were just as dissapointed, to be honest. Well at least the English fans around me.
I dont blame the players.I dont blame Streuli, their useless coach.I blame Saru for appointing Streuli, knowing he was useless.
That was a very strong english team. On that tour they beat the wallabies, all blacks and springboks consecutively. That wont be ever achieved again.
Why the fuck not? Southern Hemisphere rugby ain’t all that.

He was a good player but not a good captain.
Epic
Boks we’re totally out of control and thoroughly deserved the pounding they got.
We got juicy redemption though over the decades

Krige a repulsive specimen. What's more, he's a devout Christian, regular churchgoer and reads the bible everyday.
Awesome guy! Great player!

Kick ass
That makes it even worse. England saw them as disposable and got many of them killed just for their own greed. Disgraceful really.
Disgusting performance by the boks and especially Corne - a black mark in SA rugby
