dunno if anyone cares but if you are bored like me during the covid times then you can stream pretty much all the latest movies on Instaflixxer. Been watching with my girlfriend for the last couple of months :)
Nicely explained... I hadn't understood this game so well when I read it so I had decided to watch a video and I saw this one.It actually isn't so difficult as it seems... thanks a ton!!
Ya, I got my almost 60yo parents into it so we could play some different games than our usual poker/dice. I'm pretty articulate and give guitar lessons so I have experience in teaching to some degree and like to think I'm pretty good but still, they were reluctant after I tried explaining it. So instead I just sat them down and we played a game and they were like, wow this IS a lot simpler and more fun than it sounds. I won the first game, but they each understood it completely by game 2 and each won a game; we play all the time now.
How is it that my youtube AC guy is also the BEST guy at explaining card games????? LOL You have to be one of RUclipss greatest explainer of all things!
Lovely gameplay mate. Just played the game yesterday it was fun. Also my question is answered whether the tokens can be emptied when you are playing less than 4 players (like 2 or 3 players) and in this case 2 player game there is no limit on how many tokens you can take and you can empty the stack.
The rules don't mention anything about trading tokens in. Essentially the rule states that if at the end of your turn you have more then 10 tokens, you must put some back. So in a way, you are trading tokens in :) Same thing. Here are the official rules: www.spacecowboys.fr/img/games/splendor/details/rules/Rules_Splendor_US.pdf
Why didn't player 1 take the third noble card when he had the resources built for it? Is he limited to 2? The game should've ended as soon as he put down his 4th white card otherwise and hit 17 points right?
I think we were just not ready to end the game yet 😄 But you are right, that would have been game over normally but for the sake of the video we continued.
Let's say there's a stack of 4 black and 3 white gem, and that's all. Can I take 1 black and 1 white gem , even if there is no third color available? Or am I obliged to instead take 2 black?
Let’s say I got development card based on 3red gems and 3 ruby count on existing development cards, next round there is another development card with 4 ruby , can I get the card giving 1 ruby and 3 red from development card face up? Basically any limit on counting gems face up and get new development cards?
Each development card you have is counted as 1 permanent gem. So if you were to buy another card worth 4 rubies "for free", you would need to have 4 ruby development cards. The scenario you described would require you to pay 3 ruby gems and your ruby development card would count as the fourth. Hopefully that makes sense..
Sorry. To confirm, can a player take two of the same color gem at the start of a two player game or is this option is not available as they would leave only two of those gems?
A two player game will have 4 of each token, so yes, this option is still available in 2 player games. (My wife and I play this game with just the two of us occasionally :)
If I am purchasing a card that requires say, 1 Blue, 1 Green and 1 Red and I have in my hand 1 Blue card, 1 Green token and 1 Green card, and 1 Red card, can I keep my Green token and just “use” my 1 Green card?
great video, i have a question considering why player 1 returned 1 blue ship back and then he reserved a card and taking a gold one , cant he reserve one without returning it ?
6 months late, but I'll answer in case someone else has the same question. Player 1 already had 10 chips, and by taking a gold chip he would have 11 chips and have to return one for the stack. The order of how he did it in the video was a bit misplayed but that was the reason why.
You can take 3 tokens if you can. If you can’t, you take whats available (two or less, depending on the situation) then, at the end of your turn, return some tokens until you’re up to 10, or return all of the tokens you’ve taken this turn.
Did you watch the video? It shows the setup and gameplay. Why what? I'll try to answer your questions. If you can tell me where you're having trouble understanding the instructions, that would help. .
Then you play again! 😄😉 If I recall correctly, the person who has less gem cards would be the winner. (This is stated in the instruction sheet that comes with the game)
I bought this game because of the reviews. I have read the rules and watched countless youtube videos and I still have absolutely no idea how to even start the game. A total waste of 30 euros
I hope you've figured it out by now, not sure what you could possibly be stuck on. Once all the pieces are set up you start by... Taking some tokens (2-3 as explained in the video). Then the next player takes some, then you take some, etc, until one of you can buy something.
@@madamsmall well if you just follow this thread you will see so many comments from people who don't understand the rules. But it isn't unusual, look at how many people make RUclips tutorials because the rules of modern games are written by morons. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the video tutorials are useless too.
Thanks for the gameplay video. I'd read good things about the game, but wanted to learn more. This video was really helpful
0:00-1:45 Game setup and overview
1:45-4:38 Game rules and basics
4:38-9:10 Example of gameplay
Seeing the game played out is so helpful. I wish other board game channels would do something like this. Good job!

@Forest Louie Definitely, have been using instaflixxer for years myself =)
LOVE THIS GAME!!! Btw, nice video and explanation! It's hard to explain so it's nice that you included a played game as well

Very well explained and it really helped that were playing the game.
@8:40 you dont have 4 greens to take that card. It required 1Blue+4Green+2Red. But you had only 3 Green tokens/cards.
You're right!! I had no idea I made that mistake until your comment! Wow. 😅😬😇
How is it that my youtube AC guy is also the BEST guy at explaining card games????? LOL You have to be one of RUclipss greatest explainer of all things!
Lol, thank you sir! 😄 Those were the days before HVAC content.
This was a great explanation. Thank you!
Thank you!
Excellent tutorial

Thanks! Great vid👍
Do you have to use tokens before cards
Ok I’ve prolonged buying this game for the longest time, I’m getting it tomorrow xD
We still love it 👍 and even got the expansion. Enjoy!
Amazing explanation!
Thank you! 🙂
Thanks for explaining
So... I played this once and was told that I could trade in tokens for other ones if I wanted to. Could you explain that?
The rules don't mention anything about trading tokens in. Essentially the rule states that if at the end of your turn you have more then 10 tokens, you must put some back. Helped a lot
THANKS
Nice vid. You are not to refill the noble row though. You only use the Nobles that you have from the start of the game.
What's a noble ?
@@RJ-hx5nb The fancy peoplecards up top worth 3 points a piece.
sounds super fun!
It's still our favorite! :) We even got the expansion recently

Hehehe... thank you brooo ♡♡♡
At 6:07 can we put any kind of token?
Yes

yes the cards act as a token. but, they never run out.

Let’s say I already have 9 tokens. Now in my turn can I just take 1 token instead of taking 3/2 tokens and then having to return the 2/1 extra(s)?
You can take 3 tokens if you can. If you can’t, you take whats available (two or less, depending on the situation) then, at the end of your turn, return some tokens until you’re up to 10, or return all of the tokens you’ve taken this turn.
could have got the third noble.. right?
Five years later and just curious if it's still your favorite game of all time?
One of our favorites. It takes around 40 minutes though so we don't play it too often. A shorter fun game that we often play now is "cover you assets"
We bought ours for $49.99 at Target. It's way cheaper on Amazon.. amzn.to/2IhEBNi
Looks fun
Still one of our favorite games! :)
WHY???!!!Can someone please explain how you start and why???!!!
Did you watch the video? It shows the setup and gameplay.
Why what?
I'll try to answer your questions. If you can tell me where you're having trouble understanding the instructions, that would help.

Can you trade in Splendor
Unfortunately not. That's just in Settlers of Catan. Though maybe you can modify the rules and make the game even more exciting. 😄
