They also looked for the antennas on the radio operators back....some of the first hunted knowing they couldn't call for help if successful. Suicide destroys more than one person , my closest friend on this planet took his own life one night for absolutely no reason at all leaving behind a mother so full of grief she eventually had to be put in an institution she could not accept his death, it's been over twenty years now and still no change, looking at this poor shell of a woman is like seeing my own mother in front of me only she can not see us , she is that far gone . The nurse told me her own daughters and husband stopped coming to visit over 15 years ago. It nearly destroyed me, thank god for the love of my life standing by me and giving me support, who is now with my life long friend ,cancer took her away , a back ache one day ,dead 6 weeks later leaving me alone on this rock at the age of 61, i always thought she would out live me for sure, even at her age she was still the prettiest woman i had ever seen we met when i was only 13 years old we were 1 month apart in age. Yep way back then i told her i was going to marry her one day, i did and was married nearly 40 years, the only------ woman i ever slept with, the only woman i ever loved, i sure hope nobody tries to steal her in heaven while she is waiting on me, it's a terrible thing sitting around waiting to die, perfectly healthy, i just miss my baby more than i can bare some days, i keep thinking about her last words to me , she was crying and said honey i don't want to die and that was her last breath, i held her for nearly two hrs. after her death, if i could have traded places with her i sure would have in a heartbeat.

This song reminds me of my Daddy. He was in Vietnam and I am sure proud of him for his service. I miss him so much. I loved that we had a çlose relationship and after years of torment of his own memories he was able to start telling me of his time there. His buddies attended his funeral from across the United States. My sister and I wanted a military funeral because he deserved it. The war took a lot from him and caused a lot to him. It was moving to watch his buddies stand in front of his casket and salute my Daddy one last time. Then take the little flags they had in their hands and lay them in his casket. Oh how my heart was so overjoyed and never more proud of him. Sorry so long I just had to share. Prayers and love to everyone 🙏 ♥.

Both of my grandpa's fought in Vietnam. One passed away from cancer before I was really able to talk to him or ask any questions. The other got out of prison when I was 11. I didn't know much about Vietnam let alone US history in general. I remember being 14 and finally learning about it, I went home and asked my grandpa "Pops" about Vietnam. He didn't say much other than he doesn't wish it on his worst enemy, but I could see in his eyes there was more to tell. Fast forward to now, I'm 28 years old and I happened to remember church doing this song so I asked pops about Vietnam once again. His eyes filled with tears as he told me he honestly wished he would've died over there. After coming home and hearing what people called them and did to them because of the war is horrible. He told me he still has nightmares due to some of the things he went through over there.
It felt like I was back in my high school days out @ the friday night bonfire's burnin stuff while this song was cranked to 11..it's 1 of those songs that u never forget and u nailed it.. #legend

This song reminds me of my Daddy. He was in Vietnam and I am sure proud of him for his service. I miss him so much. I loved that we had a çlose relationship and after years of torment of his own memories he was able to start telling me of his time there. His buddies attended his funeral from across the United States. My sister and I wanted a military funeral because he deserved it. The war took a lot from him and caused a lot to him. It was moving to watch his buddies stand in front of his casket and salute my Daddy one last time. Then take the little flags they had in their hands and lay them in his casket. Oh how my heart was so overjoyed and never more proud of him. Sorry so long I just had to share. Prayers and love to everyone 🙏 ♥.

This dude has done an excellent job with the cover, you really can tell he respects and has genuine love for the song . But he’s no Layne . His voice was very unique, and filled with emotion. Mad props to upchurch but there’s nothing like the original

Both of my grandpa's fought in Vietnam. One passed away from cancer before I was really able to talk to him or ask any questions. The other got out of prison when I was 11. I didn't know much about Vietnam let alone US history in general. I remember being 14 and finally learning about it, I went home and asked my grandpa "Pops" about Vietnam. He didn't say much other than he doesn't wish it on his worst enemy, but I could see in his eyes there was more to tell. Fast forward to now, I'm 28 years old and I happened to remember church doing this song so I asked pops about Vietnam once again. His eyes filled with tears as he told me he honestly wished he would've died over there. After coming home and hearing what people called them and did to them because of the war is horrible. He told me he still has nightmares due to some of the things he went through over there.
It felt like I was back in my high school days out @ the friday night bonfire's burnin stuff while this song was cranked to 11..it's 1 of those songs that u never forget and u nailed it.. #legend
