I flew Lufthansa's Business Class product from New York to Munich and expected a classy and deluxe experience. Instead, the vibe felt cold, and the crew couldn't have been less interested in serving.

the reason I really like Lufthansa is not because of their service, but because they still fly cool planes like the 747-8, the a340-300, a340-600 and the a380 which will be returned to service this year
yes and that's absolutely the only thing. It's more expensive and in business not even close to Air France. Very sad and embarrassing for such a big airline to have the badest experience in Europe Amerika and Asia. But they have cool planes and a nice blue color and an nice Airport in Munich ...

That isn’t ‘jet fuel’ leaking, it’s water. Fuel dump is from the wing fuel dump vents when the aircraft is over fuelled. That is coming from the water overflow under the rear fuselage.
Good to know thank you for correcting me! I assumed it was potable water, but I showed it to someone and they said it looked like fuel. My mistake
@@QFSAviation Rocket 65 is correct. What you’re seeing is the ground service provider D’nata service the portable water. The fuel jettison system is connected to the wings.
No dramas. I only know having walked around and under aeroplanes for so many decades. The fuel is a light colour though and it’s an understandable mistake.

Air France? My choice would be anything but Air France, save God! Four flights to long distances incl. Business Class and Premium Eco, never again.
I’m pretty sure it’s water coming out of the aircraft, not jet fuel! The water gets exchanged at many stations for aircraft.
If it were fuel the fire fighters and many more would have attended the scene.

Flew the same aircraft and route back in June 2022. Was cool getting a ride on the A346 before they’re gone for good.

Flew to London on a Virgin Atlantic A340-600 in February 2011 ,nice ride and great svc from crew.

(Oh yes, I remember those downstairs lavs. They had some pretty serious suction, and I thought it best to stand while flushing, so as not to lose any important equipment 😊)

I love how cinematic your TRs are these days. Crisp focus, great exposure for the scene (including rthe stars) and cool music. As for the product, well, T1 was tired when I was last there 5 years ago, and LH business really does look like a 3 star product. At least it wa a "short" flight so 2-2-2 isn't so bad, but compared with 1-2-1 or 1-2-2 elsewhere, not great.

I absolutely love flying LH and keep coming back time and time again. Of course, I’m not paying for a nice seat or good service… simply paying to fly an 346, 343, or 747.

Very well documented video. The best I've ever seen. The A340-600 is an old model aircraft, soon to be permanently retired, somewhat obsolete, however Lufthansa made a great effort to upgrade passenger interior accommodations and service. I am convinced from this video that if I ever travel to Europe. I would certainly fly Lufthansa.

I lived on Long Island 1962-1972. The beginning quick edited images brought back memories. I actually watched this from start to finish, wh. isn't typical. You're right about Skytrax; I think there's more than just customer input that places airlines in the ranking system.

Glad Lufthansa is still using 4 engine planes fair play. Especially A340-600. I went on Virgin A340-600 in 2007 to Los Angeles and back decent plane

I completely agree with you! I need to fly every month 2-4 times with Lufthansa between Frankfurt and Budapest. Lufthansa is right now on a level with lowcost airlines…
Yes, like most of European airlines on intra-european flights. It's okay for short hops within Europe, however, Lufthansa really sucks on long-hauls these days.

@@udvilacka For sure you have but to put Lufthansa on a level with low cost Airlines is complete nonsense. Low cost Airlines are an evil thing and they should never ever exist. For a service and a product you have to pay an amount of money otherwise that product can't exist any longer. For Ryan Air, Easy Jet, Wizz Air and all the others i have this : " If you pay peanuts you deserve monkeys."

Lufthansa have a lot of catching up to do. They used to be the gold standard decades ago in terms of service and comfort. Nowadays they're not even among the best within Star Alliance. I just flew with SAS a few weeks back and both their Premium Economy and Business Class product were far superior to what LH has to offer. Same goes for United and Finnair, both of which are just so much better.
Humanity have a lot of catching up as well, as people are becoming more and more arrogant and selfish type it’s all me me me and more me, not appreciate what we have, as there are so many that don’t have anything yet there are more thankful for that little then rest of you that are not thankful for everything you have!

The only time I flew on an A-340 was in 2000 Swiss Air GRU-ZRH. Since I don't sleep on planes, I found out that there was a big bowl of Swiss chocolate at the end galley and ate a bunch of them. That plane was so freaking LOOOOONNNNG Q. Thanks for sharing!

Brillant tripreport, I really like your camera shots! I flew JFK-FRA with the A340-600 in June 2023 and I was impressed by the Aircraft 🙃
Fantastic that Lufthansa have returned some of their 340s to service albeit for a limited time, this could explain why they have not had a cabin update,but still.undoubtedly one of the most stunning passenger aircraft of all time. Unfortunately Lufthansa cabin service has not been up to other European carriers since Covid and this was obvious with your comments about cabin crew, the food looked well presented but for the price paid I would of expected more.

As a Aviation enthusiast and a pilot, I’ve been wanting to get a ride on the A-340 before they decommission them. Planning my first trip to Europe in September for the Oktoberfest and Lufthansa came right up when making travel arrangements from JFK…..What an incredible aircraft. United Boeing 777 from IAD is the other option. Been on that one? Thanks

Great review. Love the 340-600s - the basement bathrooms are cool. I was surprised to see how underwhelming the business experience was. If the increase in cost over premium economy was only $350, I dont know if I could complain. Its a 'you get what you pay for' for kind of experience but I agree that from a venerable carrier and flagship one, youd expect a more premium experience.

I just flew out of EWR on the 787 in business class and their amenity kit was only a tote bag. When I flew from MUC-EWR last November, it was a porsche design amenity kit (like a small pencil case). I belive the porsche design amenity kits only come to and from MUC.
5:14 The view of the AIRFRANCE airplane from the window is quite remarkable! I would have stayed admiring that bird for a long while. And I definitely agree with you: the food at Lufthansa's lounge looked a lot more delicious than at the Turkish's, although the overall atmosphere is far better at the second lounge. Very comfy and pleasant.
6:33 The Airbus A340-600 looks like a very long cigar.

10:17 In this aircraft, Premium Economy with configuration of 2x3x2 is quite acceptable, comparing it with the Economy, with its 2x4x2 seating plan.

16:59 The famous Oshibori towel (aka hot towel), an old Japanese tradition in hospitality. Airline industry discovered this touch of Japanese hospitality is suitable anywhere there are hosts wanting to connect with their customers and show that they care. In the 'tripreport' channels here on youtube, we will witness many youtubers using the Oshibori to wipe face and even the neck, but the etiquette must be followed: Oshibori is purely to sanitize one's hands!
17:58 Warm nuts is what a premium customer would expect from any airlines. The high standard of service will come with such a detail, which Lufthnasa is failing to offer.
20:13 The most important aspect of an airline is exactly the frontline personnel. They are the true / visible face of the airline. These people can create incredible customer service, making people choose specific airlines / product, or can destroy the whole thing.

Just booked a Lisbon - Miami via Munich with LH for November 2023. The Munich to Miami leg will be on this gorgeous aircraft🎉 cant wait
I took the same flight the day after Christmas, only I flew from JFK to Tallinn, Estonia with a connecting flight via Munich to Tallinn. I also booked premium economy for $540 on Expedia and then upgraded to Business Class from Lufthansa's website for an additional $449 (total flight cost $989). That was an excellent value. The crew was very friendly on that flight. Being a native American that also speaks German might have made the attendants more attentive. The food I would say was above average. They had nicely prepared oriental style sesame chicken with fresh green and fluffy rice on my flight. My breakfast looked exactly like the flight in this video. Overall, the business class like Lufthansa currently offers for Transatlantic from NY JFK Airport seems like a very fair deal at about $1,200 fare in 2023 pricing.
Please, let me get this clear. You can run between the lounges? There are more lounges accepting LH business class?

That's water flowing out the back. It's either an overflow from the tanks filling to the max or airlines at times flush the tanks but allowing it to overflow.

Question for you (based on your review): Normally I would think that most wouldn't eat much in the lounge as meals in Bus/First would be so much better. I'm wondering what your opinion has been overall. In most cases is it better to save your appetite for the flight or eat in the lounge - post pandemic?

Beautiful vlog as always. Sad when a dismissive/bad attitude crew taints the travel experience. Especially in their premium cabins which are often their top tier revenue customers. Never will understand when that happens. 🤔
Thanks a lot! Well said! I never understood it either, Premium cabin flight attendants should have better customer service skills. But then again you have to remember they probably deal with so many rude passengers that feel entitled to treat crews as personal servants
I traveled Lufthansa business class from IAH to TBS over the 2022 Christmas holidays, and I have to agree with you on the terrible service provided. I have to say it is one of the worse flights I have been on in the forty years I have traveled abroad.

I’m glad you asked! I use the 16-35 f2.8 for the wide angle shots, and the 28-135 f4 for the zoom/montage shots. The A7S line has the best low-light capabilities out of any camera that’s ever been created.
