    In this video, I join the Blitz Chess Shield Arena on lichess.org and play a bunch of aggressive openings, traps, and gambits with the intention of winning quickly! This was streamed on November 7th 2018, just a few days before I flew to London to report at the World Championship match between Magnus Carlsen and Fabiano Caruana.

    For the puzzle, isn't 6 moves enough for white?
    f3, g4, b3, Ba3, Bxe7, Ba3
    Qh4#

    • @davidritterskamp3273
      @davidritterskamp3273 3 года назад

      I came up with the six moves of g4, f4, f5, f6, fxe, fxB=N (or B). Then ...Qh4 is mate

    36:24 "rely on instincts" doesn't Bc7 win an exchange at the least?
    Or am I missing a move

      He would just take the pawn on b2, and if you capture on e5, he would eat on c2, checking, and after you move you king he would take your bishop on e5, or if you ate with knight, he would skip this last move and just take knight on c3. So black would be 2 pawns up. Im just 1600, so I dont know if there might be a way to play better in that position

    20:33 you can just take b5 knight, if he takes bishop c3 N is also hanging

    • @saturn_Il
      @saturn_Il 3 года назад

      He would take the knight with his other knight and white would gain a tempo since black has to retreat his bishop

    • @daviddieteman1222
      @daviddieteman1222 3 года назад +1

      @@saturn_Il yeah but black is up a knight, losing 1 tempo is worth a knight

    • @saturn_Il
      @saturn_Il 3 года назад

      @@daviddieteman1222 no its a trade, black also has a hanging bishop

    • @daviddieteman1222
      @daviddieteman1222 3 года назад +1

      @@saturn_Il yeah it would go axb5 Nxb5 then black can move the bishop and is up a knight

    @46:30 should have played Qxf7 forking both rooks and protecting knight. Pretty sure it was mate in 2.

    Very entertaining. Haven't seen that Scandinavian trap before. And it beat Bartholomew no less. Looking forward to more of your blitz encounters. BTW, you still win the queen on Kf6 - 9. Bb2+ e5 10. Bxe5+ when either Ke6 or Ke7 result in mate or loss of the black queen after Nc7.
