    Voting is a fundamental right as a citizen of India. If you are aged 18 years and above, then it is important you apply for a voter ID so that you can vote. You can apply for a voter id card either online or offline.
    Every Indian voter who is registered receives a special identity number from the Election Commission of India, sometimes known as a Voter ID Card. Every voter receives an EPIC Number, or Electoral Photo Identity Card Number, in addition to their Voter ID Card. The EPIC Number, a 10-digit alphanumeric code made up of both letters and digits, is displayed on the front of the voter identification card. It is essential for exercising the right to vote in municipal, state, and federal elections since it acts as each voter's individual identification.
    Online Enrollment Process for a New Voter ID Card:
    The online enrollment process of a new Voter ID is very simple. All you have to do is the following steps:
    Step 1: Visit the Election Commission of India (ECI) homepage, the official website for voter id registration.
    Step 2: The website has everything you would need to know about the election process in India, from electoral rolls to the election schedules for upcoming elections across the country. It also has a list of guidelines for voters and various application forms to register to vote.
    Step 3: There are a number of forms, based on the service you wish to avail. These range from name change, the inclusion of name in electoral roll for citizens residing in India, as well as separate forms for those who live overseas and members of the armed forces, those in government service, etc.
    Step 4: You would have to select the form for new voter application, which is Form 6.
    Step 5: To find the form you have to visit National Voters Service Portal. Under ‘Forms’ either download Form 6 or click on Form 6 to apply online if you are a resident of India.
    How to Apply for a Voter ID Card Online?
    Step 1: Visit the official website of the Voters’ Service Portal .
    Step 2: There on the website under ‘Forms’ either click on ‘Fill Form 6’ or download the form and take its printout. Fill Form 6 if you are a resident of India. If you are an NRI then click on ‘Form 6A’.
    Step 3: If you want to apply online, then register yourself by clicking on the ‘Sign-up’ button and providing your mobile number and email ID and other important details. If you are already registered, then provide your registered mobile number or EPIC number followed by the password and captcha and click on ‘Request OTP’. Enter the one-time password (OTP) and log in to the portal.
    Step 4: Enter details and upload the required documents.
    Step 5: Click on "Submit".
    Step 6: Once you submit, you will receive an email at the email address that you have provided. This email will have a link to a personal Voter's ID page. You will be able to track your voter ID application through this page, and you should receive your Voter ID card in a month from your application.
    Documents Required to Apply For a Voter's ID Card :
    To apply for a voter ID card online, you would require the following documents:
    One passport sized photograph
    Identity proof- this could be a birth certificate, passport, driving licence, PAN Card or high school mark sheet.
    Address proof- this could be either ration card, your passport, driving license or a utility bill (phone or electricity).
    Voter's ID Card Eligibility:
    The eligibility criteria for Voter's ID Card can be summed up as follows:
    The applicant should be an Indian citizen.
    The applicant must have a permanent residential address.
    The applicant must be at least 18 years old.
    Process of Transition from an old Voter's ID Card to a new one:
    The process of transitioning from an old Voter's ID card to a new one is fairly straightforward.
    The steps for the same are listed below:
    Step 1: Visit the official National Voters’ Services Portal at www.nvsp.in.
    Step 2: Click on the ‘e-PIC Download’ option on the homepage.
    Step 3: You will be redirected to a new webpage wherein you will be required to enter your EPIC number or Form Reference No. and select the state of your residence.
    Step 4: Click on the ‘Search’ button.
    Step 5: You will receive an OTP on the registered mobile number.
    Step 6: Enter the OTP in the designated field and validate the same.
    Step 7: Click on the ‘Download e-PIC' option and download the same.

    About family members voter details..my fathers voter card is of different area so i want to give my brother's id number but which option should i select..no option is there for brother..only one which says ,,legal guardian in case of orphan...but im not orphan..what should i do ..

      Online wale ke basis par vote karenge..
      *वोट पर्चियों (Slips) के लिए ECI (आपका वोटर आईडी नंबर) लिखकर 1950 पर एसएमएस करें।*
      *आपको 15 सेकंड के अंदर वोट पर्ची मिल जाएगी।*
      *जैसे- ECI SWD3456789 1950 पर SMS कर दें।*
