I genuinely can't believe no one has asked you to make a video game OST yet 😭 just imagining songs like this being used in an RPG like Undertale or Sea of Stars gives me chills. I guarantee that someday someone is gonna reach out to you for it, and if no one else does then I will!!!

pianos my favorite instrument and the one I'm most comfortable with irl, and so I normally find that my compositions become pretty piano centric, even if there isn't a piano in the composition haha

    • @Nobodyhere-cw1jm
      @Nobodyhere-cw1jm 16 дней назад +4

@@AZALI00013 that makes a lot of sense. Piano is one of the most versatile instruments sound-wise, mainly due to a ridiculously wide range of notes. The piano is also pretty easy to learn-although I couldn't get my hands to play any instrument, even if I tried, which is fine, I write anyways, so not much impact there.
If I had to choose myself, my favourite is easily split evenly between the piano and viola/violin, since they each hold a wide range and gracefully play every time, matching well in any instrumental group or orchestra-which is similar to one of my favourite genres of music (basically whatever Hollow Knight's OST falls into), alongside techno and its subsects. You've managed to be one of the very few who can recreate that sort of music in a variety of ways-even making the seldom seen mixture of both genres that works well (like in your CHAOS CONTROL video, which felt like an electrostep rendition of Steven Universe music, which created a similar idea, but more techno than electrostep, like what you make in the techno subsects.
Super condensed ver: I agree plus ramble about opinions (all good)

Elysiuma is a term that is often associated with the concept of Elysium, which is a place in Greek mythology where the souls of the heroic and virtuous go after death. It is considered a paradise or a blissful afterlife for those who lived a good and honorable life.
    Basically from this specific line:
    - "I've won, but at what cost..."
    Eternal Echoes of Bliss

Like the flower in the lush green garden.. Yet moments later.. To be flooded with heavy rain.
While the frogs the croaks and jumps around the garden, while the heavy rain still goes on.
    ..
Just to say, whatever life brings to you.. Just remember to be happy.. Even for a single second..
Since.. Life is too short.. For a tear to be shed.

God, the guitar kicking in hit me like a brick in the Best Way, it’s really cool to (see? hear?) experience the conventions of your music from earlier, only to have you suddenly go “haha! New instrument!” And completely turn the vibe on its head. The fact that it seems to draw from the quieter moments of the previous Echoes of the True World but expand on them and make them more complex is just AAAAHHHHH it’s so good!

every time you talk about your evolution in music, the new techniques you learn, the new instruments you get and the new genres you try; i find it very interesting to read and think about. That line about you finding weird your old music and possibly your old-self finding strange the structure of your current songs is so right, we always change our opinions and likes with the time, and that explains why every artist (in general, but it also applies to music) doesnt like their old works by themselves but dont hate the existence of them, it's just not that they really got a lot better with the past of years, but it also shows how their preferences changed to finally arrive their current and better selfs. (I hope this comment is understandable)

  • @zg9y

This sounds absolutly amazing! it makes me think of someone at their lowest point deciding to work hard to improve, but not to immidiate success, they fight their way up through tooth and nail but they are only able to stay at the same point, not improving but not going lower as well. Untill finally they are able to meet someone who is willing to help them, they are never able to get out of their lowest point on their own, but together with help from others they can finally look back at the end and see where they came from with a fond sense of nostalgia and happiness over seeing how far they've truly come.

I've noticed that a very important element to me about music is how complex it is. If there's a lot of things going on that feel random, it can be too much, but if not enough changes, it gets boring. But, lots of things that feel random actually aren't random, and as you learn to perceive the patterns underlying the randomness, things will feel less complex. This happens with everything, not just music! I think it does feel a bit different with music though, because we don't consciously look for patterns in music, and the feeling of too much or too little happening is amplified somehow.
Btw, a more precise definition of what I mean by complexity here is "Shannon entropy".

"Being forced to see the world through another lens" is pretty much my experience with music theory while composing
Although, as you said, older music that you made feels different, as a sense of chord progression development and many other things, they feel even more special and more interesting to see on another perspective

it's kind of weird listening to past songs, because although some things seem naive and boring because I knew less, some decisions are also really cool, since I never would have made them now :0
it's strange just how much our views and preferences change over the journey haha
it really makes you wonder how a future you will see your work in the present

Makes me think of a quaint little medieval-style town at night time, maybe from the perspective of a loving guardian watching over it and reminiscing on days when they didn't have to guard because the surrounding woods weren't overrun by monsters and part of the town wasn't already in ruin from a prior attack... idk I'm just spitballing ideas, it's really fun to try and make stories based off of these!

What i love about your music the most is that it reminds us that music too has a voice. So many developers (especially AAA) have forgotten that music can be as powerful, moving and meaningful as any amount of dialogue. Theres a reason "simple" or "rudimentary" tracks like those of early sonic or mario games are so universally recognizable. Now we have talented grand orchestras for the sake of it being and sounding grand rather than playing a part in the story itself. Background noise, filler, sidelined. All of your tracks sound like dialogue, tell many stories, to where even if there was nary a word said in the entire game you'd know what's being felt/said. Much like silent hill, parasite eve or tunic. I really hope you get the chance to show off your skills and inspire many to remember just how powerful sound and music can be in any art form.

    Another poem for your thoughts:
    The wings of wind
    Leaves free, unpinned
    Liberty of thought, of mind
Wandering to wonder. What to find?
    Change to change
    Extend the range
    Of possibility
    Imagine the key
    Sunrise to fall of night
    History hidden in hindsight
    Begin again, begin anew
    For all begins with you
[I pretty like the shifting moods of this piece. Key changes are difficult, but I find transitions to similar moods to be the easiest for it. Idk what you know (I’m sure you know plenty more than me honestly with how good you are), but I’m sure the major minor key changes could be interesting as well.
Also, your has been inspirational for me trying a new DAW that has tempo changes, which let me make some more “organic” music, which is what I really like about your music.
I hope you do well with music like this, you’ve improved greatly and I’m sure can figure it out. (I know there’s a lot of patterns with music so maybe looking for one can help).]

This is gorgeous. very impactful yet subtle+effective key changes too. I love using symmetrical chords for changes. like how every diminished chord is also 4 other diminished chords, just in different inversions, which have their own paths open harmonically for changes/resolutions (Cdim is Ebdim is Gbdim is Adim, all of which can go different places). And time-signature changes I find easier with slower and sustainful things like this, as you can hang onto notes/rests longer and have it breathe more without it coming apart and losing cohesion.
fwiw I love these longer "full song" compositions the best. probably not as algorithmically-friendly for youtube views/ads as a creator vs the snack-size things people usually do, which are more conducive to higher-output-volume content that these platforms usually incentivize/demand for "engagement thru fast food attention-binges." But I love the thoughfulness and intent behind more full compositions. It's felt, I think.

    Hmmm
I like it, and the pitch changes are really cool! I think with music it's easy to compose it in real time, but it's important also to listen back to it multiple times to make sure it's not too jarring. But the most important thing to me is just doing what sounds cool and figuring it out from there. It's easier to learn things if you're just messing around!

I really like this, it feels kinda... contemplative??? Like it's the theme song of me trying to calmly describe something to someone, while under the surface my brain has six completely unrelated things it wants me to mention immediately
I think I'd also have a lot of trouble hearing certain key changes without it being weird but I can keep up with tempo/meter changes pretty well (I listen to Dream Theater and they do it smoothly all the time, AWESOME band)

I gotta say that what you were saying speaks to me too. I sometimes have those same thoughts. Though I would definitely say it is a positive change. Life is a journey & our music can sometimes express our journey without us even realizing at first.

I feel what you’re saying with noticing old songs and your taste changing over time. As a guitarist, my lens has changed from just enjoying riffs to trying to figure them out and appreciating all the nuances.
Also, I’ve always been curious if you play the songs irl or just lay them out one-by-one in MIDI.

    Beautiful song!
To answer your last little tangent, I personally don't concern myself too much with my past selves.
However, I do have a piece of writing that I lined out when I was 14, and I refuse to change any plot points or story arcs, because that is how I viewed the world when I was 14.
It's flawed, it's tragic, and the perfect ending is the main hero dying a couple years after burying their friends.
Because that was what I viewed to be the ideal at the time.
To have friends, and if I didn't, I'd rather have been dead.
I had no friends, but I thought I did.
    NOT THE POINT!
The point is that your past does not define you, and neither can it judge you more than you let it.
There is no permanent state of self, and life comes with ups and downs, even in growth.
And personally I find picking one key to be restricting anyway

I... know I am fully corrupted. Nothing felt weird in that song, but that's coming from someone who enjoys composing in 21/4 and other random stuff.
I LOVE how studying theory gives you a knew way to listen to music. Alright some pieces become lame, but it's SO MUCH MORE exciting when something makes you go "w h a t happened???".
And then your compositions also become weirder and weirder and my friends straight up say sounds like an LSD trip lol... But hey I think I prefer being corrupt than not being corrupt to be fair. The proof being, NOTHING in that song sounded weird, and I especially loved that acoustic guitar use as lead. I hope you'll embrace complexity for the sake of it!

The piano is actually really good. You can almost see the pianist doing the different movements because of how realistic the automation is. If there’s one thing azali isn’t it’s monotonous
