I can absolutely relate to your style and your attitude. I've been thrifting since (shhhh, don't tell anybody) 1974 when I graduated high school. When I went to my first day of working at a Neiman Marcus store, I wore a thrifted navy & white checkered button-front maxi skirt, a sleeveless navy mock-turtleneck top I'd had for probably 10 years, a thrifted blue & white patchwork floral cropped jacket, with a pair of cowboy boots I'd also had for at least 10 years. One of the buyers asked me if I was wearing Ralph Lauren. 😄When I told him most of it was thrifted, he became my best friend. LOL. I often wear one expensive brand item (if I thrift it) with slouchy jeans or a cool skirt and often with cowboy or combat boots. Yeah, I don't buy ANYTHING brand new and haven't since 1974 (with a rare exception). Just don't want to look like anybody else!
Wow...I'm finishing up your video and you just mentioned Outback Red (those shorts). That's so funny because the sleeveless navy mock-turtleneck top I wore in the above-mentioned outfit is (I STILL HAVE IT) from Outback Red! That's so cool. Great brand. Very expensive new back in the day. Forgot to mention I worked at Neiman Marcus in late '80s-early '90s.
LOL speaking of Frye campus boots...I have my original Frye's from 1980. In near-perfect condition even after all these years of wear. I love them. Wore them even when they weren't "in style", as I do pretty much everything I own.
Sorry I keep commenting, but your style is so like mine (in the "old days" and still somewhat today), and the scarf at the end brought back a memory. I moved from New Orleans to Boulder CO in 1977 right before I turned 21 and got a job at a "real grown-up" company. But I was such a little hippie chick, and I showed up my first day wearing a colorful gauzy maxi-skirt and a scarf tied around my head. They may have been surprised, but they never tried to "corporate-ize" me. Matter of fact, for my 22nd birthday, the owner and the vice-president took me to a Bob Dylan concert. I loved it there.♥
