  • Two hotels and several residents of San Francisco's troubled Tenderloin district sued the city on Thursday, alleging it is using the neighborhood as a containment zone for rampant illegal drug use and other vices, making residents terrified to leave their homes and businesses unable to recruit staff. The LORD loves His people! He PREACHED through me in the Tenderloin in the early 90's. The folks there threw bottles at me in return for the love! Some slapped my Bible from my grasp...(MANY times, till the cover was ruined! The LORD had me cover it to match outfits He taught me to make. One man said, "Watch! Everything she wears matches her Bible!" They never attacked it again!) In the Tenderloin I was threatened with a baseball bat! But nothing could by any means hurt me! After nearly a year, the LORD ended my stint, but sent a man He'd saved in Folsom prison to continue the work. I met him! As I was drinking tea in Woolworth's a lady said, "Hi! I want you to meet somebody! He preaches RIGHT where YOU used to preach!" He sat down with me and told me GOD had saved him and filled him with the HOLY GHOST in prison, then took him to Jones and Goldengate after I left! Even now, GOD is not finished with His people! Expecting a MIGHTY REVIVAL to break out in the skid rows of America! IN THE NAME OF JESUS! ST JOHN 3:16! 🙏🏼🙌🏼❤️✝️❤️

she still a trash ass mayor. Taking pictures with well known pimps drug pushers and tells the police to not do anything to get homeless off the streets. Everyone knows by now SF is camouflaging meth cookers and dealers as homeless people. SF politicians and it's residents have known of this since the 80s. It's all a cover up to keep people buying drugs and keep them under the illusion of control. All SF residents like to have this youth minded drug abusing mentality because they never grew out of fitting in. Everything that goes on in SF is based on keeping up with the latest fads and trends. There's not a on switch in SF peoples brain that says grow up the party is over. YOUR NOT 15 ANYMORE.

but but ... according to the Mayor's office, stats don't lie, she must be doing a good job - burglaries are down in the past couple of years thanks to her initiatives? Hmmm ... like defunding and restricting the police, ignoring the security of large numbers of small and large businesses. A huge number are abandoning ship, shutting down or leaving the city and in some cases State altogether. Doesn't that also mean that the number of potential targets of crime are no longer there to be robbed? Similar claims are being made by Oakland's mayor. Here's the real reason burglaries are down in SF (and Oakland), they are just going up elsewhere in the Bay Area as the criminals widen their areas of operation. Personal robberies, vehicle theft and home invasions on the other hand continue to rise!!!

Exactly. They need to get moved to places with a lower cost of living. There is zero chance a homeless drug addict in San Francisco is magically going to turn their life around overnight and somehow be able to afford a $2500+/month studio apt; however, if they get sent to rural Utah to work on a ranch it is a much smaller leap to be able to afford a $350/mo bunk as they work their way back into society.

What is happening in the Tenderloin is unrepairable and overpopulated, which is the major cause for the deterioration of Union Square. Homelessness / drug addiction is not an easy fix, mental institutions and prisons are at full capacity and costly. Drug cartels had succeeded in being the only ones to benefit from the sale of narcotics and now the mega millionaires, however our legal system is limited, and cannot prosecute or conduct investigations due to constitutional rights of unlawful search and seizures. Government is overwhelmed and cannot stop the smuggling of drugs to America. Americans like to feel good and cannot tolerate pain, consequently wishing to get high all the time. USA is a high-pressure society, not everyone has the self-assurance to pursue their dream and fail, resulting in criminal activities, mental illness, or drug addiction. Unfortunately, overdoses or poor health is one of the ways of shrinking their existence, it's sad, but it is the truth.

It's totally nuts that the police allow people live on tents on city streets! But yea they need to live somewhere so we should build more social housing.

    • @PhilipAtterbury

How is it “their city too?” Do they pay taxes for the street cleaning, police, infrastructure, fire department, or hospitals? Do they look out for fellow citizens and property owners? Do they contribute to commerce and social activity? Do they support local athletics and arts? These people are struggling and need to go where they will have the best chance at survival, recovery, and reassimilation. Tough love is infinitely more valuable and effective than ignorant coddling.

Nobody is asking SF officials to build Auschwitz West, or anything close, but when we elect them to fix the City’s problems, they lecture us about the humanity of the addicts and homeless.
The activists are even worse, fighting one man wars against capitalism and gentrification; snd more concerned with their own perceived marginalization, they use the street population as pawns in a fight with their own mental landscape, shooting down every solution presented.

The Mayor is “ really proud of what she’s been able to accomplish” just like Joe look where we were three years ago, and look where we are today together we can accomplish what I started.

I don't understand why American cities allow drug use and living on the streets. That's insane.

Have you seen those interviews of homeless people, some are not homeless, they just come to the streets to get high with like minded people, others don't want to get help - they like their environment. The major cities across the nation has eroded so much and it's ashame that the law and government doesn't do anything but give them "safe needles" - is that "safe"???
