Happy 100k subscribers! How about just giving a finders fee to whoever brings back either the sample cash 1 kg of other Mars sample? Like X-prize but with a billion dollar reward? Doesn't cost anything until someone actually brings back sample and if they do it's a lot cheaper than what has been proposed.
“It is the hope of NASA leadership to return the samples to Earth by the 2030s with less complexity, cost and risk than originally planned, and the agency is expecting to have answers for how best to return samples from Mars by the fall, said NASA administrator Bill Nelson during an April news conference.“ What about Zubrin’s Mars Direct? If the idea is to make fuel for the Mars missions on the moon, what’s stopping us? If the last 50 years hadn’t been so centered on consumerism, maybe we’d be on Mars just in time. Instead, everyone is racing to see who builds the first Hard Rock on the moon.
