Oh gosh how I missed this restaurant.I was born and raised in Chiangrai and did not know this restaurant. I will definitely try this restaurant next year when I go back.Thank you Mark.
Mark every time I watch your videos I have to eat something immediately wille I watch you eat those yummy dishes ...I'm more addicted to food now thanks to you💚
My wife and I went to the restaurant last night, wow, the fish dish, topped with a pile of breaded fried garlic was incredible. Best enjoyed as Mark demonstrated with piece of fish, and a couple of pieces of garlic all dipped in the spicy sauce. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area
I agree -- that crispy fish with fried garlic looks very tasty! Thank u for sharing your travel experiences -- you show us the diversity of humans and their creativity in creating dishes. I Really enjoy watching u eat -- you make eating local food a great pleasure!
I'm going to be in Chiang Mai and was contemplating Chiang rai to visit the white temple...definitely one of my stop if I decide to go. I've been to thailand to visit family but hardly traveled...Which on my upcoming trip I plan to do more of....So I've been coming to your channel to get some ideas of where to go and how to plan my trip. Definitely a lot of help. Thanks.
Mark,I'm one of your follower.I never miss any of your video clip even I visit Bangkok every year.Well done my man.I appreciate your effort.Keep up with your good work and we still keep watching.Just wonder how you can upload very good quality VDO's.
When my business is slow, I travel. And I use your videos to help me with cuisine and its downright amazing. And when I can't travel due to workload, I watch your videos, turn on the heater extra hot and imagine I am there. haha. Thanks so much for the videos, Mark. They are a blessing. Su su!!!
I love your non-verbal gestures of expressing "mmm..yummy" ! That reminds me of myself. I do the same whenever I visit Thailand and eat local food with my thai friends ☺
This restaurant was a short walk from Le Meridien where I was staying at. Got some great northern Thai food. Wished they had the fried fish with tons of fried garlic. They didn't have any fish when I was there, but the other dishes I had was so good.
Hey Mark your videos inspire me to become a nomad and really encourages me to learn more about Asia and a lot of other beautiful parts of this wonderful planet.
Mark, I loves your introduction to all the wonderful food of Thailand and the places that you visit in Thaialnd. I wishes to visit Chiang Rai one of these days when I go back to Thailand.
In North part of Thailand such as Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai or Lampang etc. You can find many delicious Larb restaurants. Maybe it on a road side look small but so delicious.
How do you find all these great places??? I'm watching this at 6:40 A.M. (Philippine Time). I ate breakfast and all but I'm still hungry. That fish and garlic combo just looks awesome... I would have it dipped in soysauce with chilis. Aaah... this is why I would never be able to start my diet. haha
Wow... i like every thing did you present. Now i’m start to lean english with your vedio on youtube. I feel good when i see you thank you very much for you recommend. I will be follow you forever. (I’m so sorry if you can’t understanded becuase i still not good in english.
OMG that Fish/fried Garlic combo was total decadence, you truly find the most fascinating places Mark!!! P.S. You'll NEVER find that dish in Vancouver, Canada yet people rep the place as if were better than Hong Kong!
Hi Mark, great video as always! Obviously, since your wife is Thai and you speak Thai yourself if I'm not mistaken, you get a lot of tips from the locals on where the best places are. What would be your advice to get in on where the locals dine where language skills and maybe cultural connections are limited?
Arnór Bogason That's a very good question Arnór. When my wife and I travel to a destination outside of Thailand, where we don't know the language or the culture, but want to find local food, we normally just do start walking around and exploring on foot - I think it's the best way to start looking for food. Pay attention to what's available and especially pay attention to stalls or restaurants that are busy, and look to be serving continuous customers. For ordering, if you don't even know what it is you're about to eat, just sort of motion to the waiter, 1 with you index finger, and you'll mostly likely get the most popular dish / specialty at the restaurant. Finally, just keep smiling. Along with doing this most of the time, I also search on local blogs / and food websites like foursquare and look for places where most of the reviews are in the local language (and of course, have a good rating). Hope this helps, I've thinking of making a full videos about a topic like this.
The pork dish looks interesting, some pieces have even a smoke ring to it. Looks like it was smoked and then fried.. Awesome :). The fish with the garlic looks just incredible good!
Hi Mark, based on your video, I went to this restaurant last week and it was great. The fried fish with the garlic was super. Also had the larb moo which was also fantastic. Thanks for the video!
chris alf Hey Chris, thank you very much. I'm in the process now of getting a new source for the t-shirts. So right now they are not available, but they will be available, hopefully towards the beginning of next year. I will let you know for sure. Thank you!
You should go to Phuket! Phuket is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand. I have been there several times to visit my dad's side of the family. It is almost like Hawaii here in the U.S. but at a cheaper price :)
Mr. Wiens ? Did you get to try a very old traditional style of cooking called " Aahan chao wang" in Thailand? I'd love to see you try one of the oldest cuisine that purely designed for the royal's families back in the days.Thank you !! loved your Vids
Salalao The only reason I didn't order it was because I had had it the meal before this and made a video as well, so I was just trying to order some other unique dishes here. But next time I'm going to try their lab for sure.
hi Mark,is there ever any dish which you do not like ? I see the same reaction in each and every video and every dish which you have tasted, everything in every restaurant cannot be that great ..btw love your videos :)
Hi Mark how are u doing. I am from India. I been watching your videos from 2 weeks UR amazing...and really a true food lover. Keep the good work going onnnnnn.. Regards Madhukar Nekkanti
you shoud hv try lab moo(pork salad?) i think you wife probably know wht i mean , and lab woa (beef) they also good! (they hv both raw and well-done choice, but i personally not eat raw) bc lab is the menu that resemble this restaurant (as they named "lab (menu) sanamgeela (the address)") btw i fall in love with all your videos and this make me hungry and want to go back home now ! (i study aboard) this is one of my favorite restaurant too. welcome to CEI , from chiang rai girl.
Ralph Crevoshay Thank you Ralph. I think they took a bunch of garlic and lightly battered it, almost like onion rings. You might try a thin pancake batter and then just deep fry.
I wish there are cookings like that here, I was able to eat some Thai dishes in LA quite far from where I lived,it is now history, although there are a few of Thai restos where I am now, I'd say very disappointing,
Would you like some fish with your garlic? Was the garlic bitter after being fried? Did you smell of garlic? I like the way the fish crackles, from being so well done. There was another restaurant also that gave forks and spoons but no knives. Why don't they give a knife with the fork and spoon? The chilli sauce is more dangerous then a knife :) Thanks another great video

Good things of Thai food is everyone can make easy to delicious.
Was the crunchy garlic on the fish mild since it had been hard fried?
evilkittie2103 Yes, it definitely was mild, just had a wonderful garlicky flavor, without burning.
My birthplace...
