- This set was without a doubt a highlight of this year's 70,000 Tons Of Metal floating festival. Unfortunately due to weather problems, the set was postponed until after 3am in the morning. Overcoming both the late hour and technical difficulties, Samael delivered by playing their classic 1994 album from start to finish! Special thanks to Vorph for handing me his guitar pick directly

Ceremony of Opposites was my very first Black Metal experience, I was 14 years old when I listened to SAMAEL for the very first time. Not many people had listened to Black Metal where I come from, so I dare say they were pretty much one of the precursors of the genre, people tend to forget that. I'm now 42 years old and still love the band. CROWN is my favorite song in this album, BTW.
Samael fue una vez considerado por euronymous como el modelo de la banda de black metal, estamoa hablando hacia el inicio de los 90s. La banda luego cambio como lo han hecho varias de estas a travez de los años, pero samael es aun un acto muy importante, el proyecto WAR es bastante significativo para los fans de traer la música de sus inicios para escucharla nuevamente. Los malos comentarios aca no tienen mucho sentido y solo demuestran el poco conocimiento de lo que ellos han hecho en ya 30 años.
Solo los que crecimos cuando Samael era lo mejorcito que podías conseguir en música underground apreciaremos su música este álbum salió en el ‘94 muchos de los que hablan acá saben de lo que se vivió en esas épocas..

Thanks for uploading this concert. I remember when I listened this album back in 1994, I was in the last year of high school. I got completely hypnotized by the total intensity from beginning to the end !!!

I admire the great quality of the sound (wondering how you recorded it...) and the quality of the video. Once again thank you for your work!
During the cruise, all the shows from this venue were closed-circuit broadcast to the TVs in the cabins. I used my Sony PCM-M10 digital recorder to capture the sound via the headphone output on the TV in my room. I recorded video of the concert with my LG V10 phone, and when I got home I combined the video with the audio from the TV broadcast. I think it came out pretty good, almost as good as a true soundboard recording

Thanks for sharing this awesome video, I was there too and was one of the real survivors awake to see them in that fucking stormy night hahah Always great to see this again. This year on their ice rink set I was exactly where you were when recorded this, and so was on pool deck too :)

If they only played this like in the 90s. No drum machines.. Thats big no no.. Great album anyway. One of the best of Swiss metal genre.

The keyboards ruined the title track. I know they were trying to go for something more epic, with more layers. But the simplistic one on the album was perfect.

+Therionized The drums are recorded and sequenced live by Xy. He does play the live drums during parts of some of the songs, you can see him playing them throughout the performance.
yup! you can tell I have never been to a Samael concert before :(
Basically Xy is the drummer but when Rodolphe H.(keyboard player) left the band, they decided that Xy will play keyboards (since he was writing keyboard parts anyway) so they replaced live drums with sequenced ones... this changed the way they sound, some people like it, some don't. Recently they played a gig where they performed two older albums (Worship Him and Blood Ritual) and Xy played drums again!
It is so sad this electronic drum sound. An amazing album performed like this :(
