I watched this video and accidentally pulled the plug on the rear left, twist counter-clockwise facing front and pull, it was also full of transmission fluid, and after cleaning out the plug on the rear left, the car appeared to shift properly, thank you, going back to clean the plug on the front right

I have the same car and doing the same thing, the strange thing, no engine light came on, I took it to a mechanic shop and quoted me $3,000, and I still have to take it to the dealer to have it reset, that would be an additional charge. I am a retired veteran so I have to live on a strict budget, after I received the bad news from the quotes I was about to give up on the car until I watched your video and it gave me hope again. I have ordered the part it will be here in a few days. ...my question, I am not able to install the part myself, how much should I pay to have it installed?
@@rollonebitxh3658 well at that point of my life I had to go through a medical procedure to removed a tumor from my head, and gave power of attorney to my ex wife who was staying at my house just incase the operation didn't go well. Doing my recovery she managed to cha6the house and all of my vehicles into her name. Oneday the cops came, while I was still recovering from surgery and I was escorted out of the house. I went to attorneys and there is nothing I can do.

On my journey I have saved a few lives, help out numerous homeless veterans. At first I was homeless and hope was fading away and thoughts of joining the 22 club (22 veterans per day commit suicide) was constantly on my thoughts. I was able to rise above that to make a positive difference.

My slk230 1998 automatic has a problem with the transmission where it only stays in first gear, reverse, park and neutral and i checked the plug and it had transmission fluidd in it also is this why my car only goes in first gear? thanks also love the fact that the cats where under the car watching you fix your transmission
@@rollonebitxh3658 that’s limp mode. could be the conductor or the 13 pin connector. try the connector first. might need a Benz dealer or an indie with the proper diagnostic tool to clear the fault code to get out of limp mode.
My Automatic Gearbox on my SLK230 2001 just Died it refuse to go in to any gear D R or program1-4. It made a winning sound then slipped out gear. The check Engine light is lit. Could this be the problem 🤔.
@@256mike I Checked whit simple Scan tool the Code is Po-700. Check engine light is lid. You can put it in D R gear but the car will only run 100 meters whit slipping gear then it goes back in to limpmode again and you can't put in any of the gears. When engine and transmission is warm 85 degrees Celsius you can not put it in any of the gears. This is only possible when the engine and autobox is startup cold.

My 01 same problem did you ever replace the plug and did it ever return to back to normal?

It's better to just change both parts put some new fluid in the transmission for the tank not a flush

Where are you in Alabama? I’m in Birmingham and just inherited a 2001 SLK320 stuck in limp mode or not going into gear at all.
My car has a similar problem my 99 slk is on limp mode my rpms get higher then my speed when I drive could this be the problem

Maybe it’s just that gearbox is in protection mode because oil leak inside the contacts.
