Out of all county employees, medical care included, eats made the least out of everyone. We felt like we got the leftovers. City council didn't respect us. Yet, we still went out every shift, ready to help the public. We did it to the best of our abilities, for small paychecks. Emts do it for the love. Cops do it to carry guns.
Is that servants heart in opposition to a tyrants heart? Make sure those recruits understand the constitution of the US first above the states constitution & silly policies.
Better question is, are they going to actually train them in the rights of civilians and the constitution? Highly unlikely as they are giving them on the job training to "qualified" GED candidates. So the new officers know their own names and nothing else. Way to drop the bar on professional standards. First try getting rid of the corrupt unions that keep unqualified and dangerous people out of the uniform and raise the standards for new officers.
How is someone with their GED worse off than a normal HS graduate? Most GED tests are harder than just showing up enough to school. Basically you don't know what you're talking about
Better question, Why does it take so long to be a lawyer to defend peoples rights yet those who violate those rights on a regular basis get almost no training at all. Officer training should be 4 years min, with extensive physiological testing, anyone with anger management, little man syndrome, inferiority complexes should instantly be barred from ever carrying a badge.

In my State all you need is a GED and 6 weeks of training to be a cop.
I couldn't imagine signing up 4 a police job in Alabama.. this #whiteright culture in Alabama makes it a no go 4 many.. myself included
