She does the 80's retro vibe like no one else. Very obvious retro 80's synth structures, but then very cleverly weaves her own added unique stand out style. Retro meets a specific artistic flair of her own. This E.P has a unique mix of 80's retro synth , and a touch of sexy ,sultry L.A noire early morning in a dimly lit club kind of atmosphere. That's what I hear and feel. I think that's what she is kind of aiming to project? It's very cool, and it's quite honestly a unique take in the world of electronica. And I get into a lot of electronica. She's a real musician. Seed of doubt still my very favourite. But I like 99% of her songs. She should be up there with the big hitters of retro synth. But I hope she is content enough knowing she's making some banging music that people really love in the underground. Some of the greatest music that's ever been is still relatively unknown. I've even noticed some more subtle post punk influence in one of her live sets. Guy with a saxophone, woman with a guitar. Making some certain songs come alive with some extra added over lays. Very cleverly done. Was at some dimly lit bar , stage with soft red lighting. Was the perfect setting, cool a.f and just wish I'd been there. Some bar, venue in L.A I think.
Madeline Goldstein's vocals are driven and yet somehow serene, but I'm certainly glad to hear Dark-wave music done by a woman. There's a witty charm to her Retro New-wave aesthetic, which is in keeping with the Los Angeles themes from those 80's glory days. She should collaborate with Mortal Boy, because Duckie has his Dark Retro New-wave music in the bag, but I find Madeline Goldstein a clean deep breath of fresh air. This is a very nice EP, where the song "Other World" uses some impressive saxophone scoring to give a really deep impact. Thank you Cypress for finding, as well as hosting this EP, otherwise it would have slipped away ......!!!!
Brilliant vocal and instrumentals! I'm filled with the same feeling of discovery as when I found an untitled CD in Amoeba music store in SF, with an artsy kiss cover - Soft Metals
Hauntingly beautiful song and songstress…..Wow
